About the birds, there is a food that you can eat as the first dongo to make it level 4, that doubles speed of bird catching. You get one bird and it counts as 2. So it's very easy to max out going to the monster.

don't blindly follow the meta sets for your weapon, those are usually entirely damage focused and often have bad defense or require you to play very riskily. there's never shame in sacrificing some crit eye or attack boost for defense boost if you need it, especially in multiplayer. also slot in flinch free
@realhumanbean462 жыл бұрын
Also point out every meta set does *NOT* work on every monster that's why there is a variety of weapons, armors, and skills set to use against a monster you're struggling against. If you want to experiment don't go on a hunt. Go on an expedition with players that way you can learn what works and what doesn't without being a burden to others.

This. And the same goes for Switch Skills. It's easy to get distracted by the big numbers, but if you feel like a move is more fun/safer to use, don't hesitate. Most quests have 50 minutes on the clock, not 5, so take it easy.
@ReikuYin2 жыл бұрын
Spec for the monster, not the damage. If you living you will get there, it not a speed run. Can't do damage if you are carted. Fight safe, wear those gems to lower or negate statues (if you can afford the space get stunproof, it WILL save your life and comes with built in flash immunity), and *learn the fights!* Knowing what and when you can get the big numbers in safely will suit you better then following meta.
@Malisteen2 жыл бұрын
I mean, unless you play light bowgun. LBG is very safe in sunbreak, especially once you get access to / experience with the new silkbind counter. Like, maybe get some evade extender in, and be sure to eat for Moxie (best in middle dango slot imo), but otherwise netset armor for dps is fine for lbg. As a gunner it's not like a few extra points of defence will make much difference against any master rank hits you do take.
@The_Argent_Dragon2 жыл бұрын
@@ReikuYin even 2 points stun res can go a long way tbh-- if anything it pairs well with coalescence so if you do get stunned its a very minor duration and you get a buff afterwards. In world I used this for alatreon when I had a friend running blight negate horn so coalescence would otherwise be impossible to get. Unlike other statuses all monsters can stun you if you take enough hits. In MR I feel like graze/trample damage is much more frequent as well, and that can add up. But especially with weapons like greatsword or hbg now that it has tackle, full stun res lets you shrug through things that you may not be able to block or may not want to block for fear of losing all your stamina and busting your shield thus taking double damage and (generally) carting for it. Also ensures you can use rage slash safely. While I was learning/training redirection on my hbg set (no shield, I felt it was so braindead in world I wanted a challenge) I ran max defense boost to avoid being one-shot and slowly took off points of the training wheels as I got more comfortable. I usually run full stun res when trying out a new weapon for the first time so I have more wiggle room to learn from my mistakes without paying the highest price for it.

I highly, highly recommend eating for Dango Bird Caller level 4! If you hate collecting birds, level 4 Bird Caller guarantees each bird you pick up doubles the stats it gives you. It cuts bird collection time down by a ton so it doesn’t feel like a waste. I typically run bird caller, booster or defender, and then whatever third option feels best at the time! Of course, don’t take bird caller if you’re going to an arena map for a boss or something, cause they give you full stats at the start.
@ReikuYin2 жыл бұрын
If I can add to that, if you have a decent rout for powering up (each area has through line that leads to the most flower patches), I would take defender 4 and one that improves bombs and sharpener, then whatever resistance you need. Been my staple meal with the new skewers and with a ticket 100% activation rate. As a sleep bomber getting two sleeps and being able to dump 4 bombs without restocking is nice

To add to this, the Garangolm set has a nifty little extra ability called Spiribrd's Call. I don't know if it combines well with the Bird Caller Dango's X2 stat effect, but what the armor skill does, is it gives you the effects of a random spiribird at cetrain intervals. I assume the skill continues activating until you're "awakened" by getting the max spiribird stats your petalace allows, but even if not, it will cut down on your time bird hunting, and the set has pretty decent defense stats. Give it a shot & see if it does combine well with the dango skill; it might be a huge help later on.

Miscellaneous tips: - Don't overlook the Dango Weakener; you aren't bitching-out or cheating, you are using the basic mechanics of the game to your benefit. And with the new hopping skewers, that effect becomes amplified, it's like you're basically fighting high-rank monsters. If taking Dango Weakener is cheating, then so is pounding down mega demondrugs, armorskins, dash juices, and every temporary buff item you have in your inventory. - Do some follower quests or support surveys of monsters you aren't too sure about if you're gear is good enough. Think of it like a practice run. You'll be doing the majority of the damage regardless. You won't be curb-stomped when a monster does a new master-rank move in the normal quest. And you'll also probably unlock some new armor or weapon; each weapon has an Elgado weapon tree, they're the ones the Elgado followers use, and they're fairly simple to craft, and the armor sets are like the ones they wear, most of them have pretty good skills, but if nothing else they make great layered armor. These quests are also good ways to farm requests and materials off of broken parts. Also, the followers interact with you it you emote at them; for example if you blow a kiss at Hinoa, she'll blow a kiss right back. If nothing else, unlocking all the followers is an achievement. - Always pet the snowy Cohoot chick after every quest, it's part of an achievement. - Check the Cohoot nest after every 5 quests; you'll get some good loot like metal eggs and Eurekacorns. - Fully explore the new areas. Both have so many nooks and crannies that hide all kinds of secrets and goodies. It's also a good way to gather Kamura points and materials. - Always use the letter of introduction for the Argosy trading ships. You'll get all kinds of goodies including the various ores you can usually buy off of Rhondine, items specifically meant for melding talismans, and an item used to craft cool-looking gear for both you and your buddies. You will end-up making back a butt-ton of the money you spent on armor and weapons you'll probably never use, and probably look like a cool pirate by the end of it.

openings come after the monster does bigger attacks, since there will be a cooldown before they attack again. for a claw swipe, they might follow up quickly, but for a lunge, they might take a while before attacking again. weapons that are quick hitting like sns and dual blades can afford to exploit even tiny openings with a few hits before shielding or dashing away, but for the more bonk-y weapons like great sword, or weapons that have specific attacks for exploiting openings like charge blade, reading and predicting your target is important. try to predict if the enemy is going to have a short, medium, or long cooldown period after an animation. for example, tremor-based attacks will likely have a long cooldown to let people recover from the tremor.

The tip about making new armor is probably the most important in my opinion as I've seen so many hunters fighting up to MR 4-5 star wearing high rank gear. A big reason for this is Capcom making it easy to surf through early master rank by joining in progress quests and having a lot of the early hunts being generally easy for people who practice a bit, but I should not see people fighting Gore Magala using high rank Valstrax gear. I think a part of this is a lot of new players as I've noticed in Rise more than other games (even more than MHW and Iceborne) a lot of players making noob mistakes very often in upper high rank and G rank, where they should be making those mistakes in low rank or early high rank and learning from them. For example, not upgrading palico/palamute gear to better sets, not retreating when their health is very low, or not collecting spiribirds (new to Rise) at the start of a hunt. We all make mistakes during hunts, but I've just noticed that a lot of hunters seem to have a harder time adapting in Rise.

The other day I was doing a Barroth in Master Rank. Three people joined, and They. All. Died. Just, one after the other. Quest Failed. (I started with tri too) Have the same problem with Shogun, everyone keeps dying.......thinking about doing it Solo with my Palico's. I've been rocking a Divine Blessing 3 charm with two Weakness exploit gems, though. It's my best charm that the rng gods have granted me to date. That lvl 3 instant Divine Blessing is a life saver as a bow user. Yes ofcourse there are better options for dps, but dps means nothing if you die. I mean the rng gods have not gifted me with a good dps charm yet, but plenty of defensive options, like the universe is trying to tell me something. Barroth has never given me trouble as a solo hunter, but Barioth is a different story.

Those are neato advices in this video, I say! Some additions I would like to share based on my somewhat-casual experience: Learning monsters' moveset is actually helpful not only for speedrunning, it also helps in determining when and how you can either defend yourself, pop potions/lifepowders or go ham especially when dealing with those "red monsters"--one that may prevent carting if done right and the moment is just right. If you're into supporting fellow hunters in multiplayer and have some decoration slots to fill, consider giving Speed Eating + Wide-range (the *4 slot gives a Level 4 Wide-range, by the way) a try. You may contribute less big pp number damage but at least you can keep everyone away from carts with heals, buffs and whatnot as quickly. Aside from the birds, grab some other endemic life stuff as well. Personally I would go for one Marionette Spider (that spider that allows you to pull a monster towards you) and/or the blight beetles first before getting towards target monster. Seriously, they're great aid tools anytime.
@陳嘉宇-y4q2 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything except not to learn the monster’s move If you see a monster and doesn’t have a full on game plan within 3 seconds, then play slow, only react don’t attack till you figured out its tricks, not for speed running but to mix up your play style Unless you play multiplayer
@adrher132 жыл бұрын

A tip I've used allot is that if your armor ever gets a resistance number that could be boosted to at least 20 with eating/decorations it's very impactful to do so when the matchup is right (e.g. monster uses the fire stuff -> get fire res to 20 if possible). Every status in the blight category gets nullified when you reach that threshold for their respective element and if you get hit by said element it will do less damage (Fireblight, Thunderblight, Iceblight, Waterblight, and Dragonblight). Whether or not it's worth going even further beyond 20 is something I'm not sure about, but nullifying the status effects, especially the random para from Thunderblight, makes each hunt properly prepared for much easier.
@FelisImpurrator2 жыл бұрын
Good tip. Elemental resistance has always been percent based to my knowledge - that was one way of reliably, albeit slowly beating Alatreon in Iceborne. But even if you're not building meme levels of elemental resistance as if you're hunting a G/Master Ranked Kirin, status immunity is basically the first and best line of insurance you can have. Stun and blights suck. Just not having them rocks.
@hennyzhi22612 жыл бұрын
@@FelisImpurrator It is true that some monsters with multiple blights make building towards res kind of futile unless you really don't want to get hit too hard by certain attacks. Thankfully there is a monster later in the game that gets you a good and cost effective decoration option to deal with all status effects.

I would also say, even if you've built a safe armour set with more defensive skills like divine blessing and defence boost, bring mega demodrugs (and mega armourskins) to every hunt. The extra damage will help kill the monster faster, meaning less chance to get hit and die (and the small defence boost from the skin has saved me many times). Also some more weapon specific advice as an insect glaive main, the silkbind vault wirebug move is a really good get out of the way move. It has a bit of a wind up at the start so cant save you as a last second panic button, but if you see a monster start to charge at you, yeeting yourself far to the side might be a good way to get out, especially for the spoiler monster's explosions.
@FelisImpurrator2 жыл бұрын
That reminds me, isn't buffed Recall Kinsect just awesome now? Might as well keep it on the other scroll, since if a monster isn't vulnerable to Diving Wyvern you'd want to have Recall and Awakened Kinsect as the move swaps, and if it is Wyvern-able it might be too slow to need Recall on.

It may seem like a slog, but the rewards are almost always worth it. 5. USE SPIRI BIRDS AND ENDMEIC LIFE!!! Don't take 8 years to "max by burdies" 6. Use a steal or damage cat. Steal gets you so many good items and damage buffs the hell out of you while dealing MAD dmage. 7. Teleport with the secondary camps Or don't and use a doggie. 8. Have fun. Insect Glaive tip: I know the video says to use the pole vault -> helicopter combo, but don't rely on aerial attacks too much. The damage those moves deal is significantly lower than ground attacks. Also, don't spam the Advancing Roundslash skill. Use it to dodge attacks that are otherwise tricky to avoid. I used to overuse it until I realized that the damage was WAY lower than if I just end combos with a Tornado Slash.

Also aerial hitboxes are complete ass, I use aerials to gap close and only follow up when the monster does nothing. Pulling off aerial stuff can be really satisfying when it works, but the frustration of getting flyswatted by bs hitboxes outweighs those glorious moments tenfold for me lol. I understand that ig would be completely broken otherwise, but I wish they at least added some kind of wirebug aerial recovery move that allows you to land and jump right back into combat to not break the flow too much

Yeah, the helicopter move was the thing that restrained IG users to the filthy ground... But now with the new skill that let you sting the monster with your bug like a mosquito(ironic), you can do a lot more damage in less time if you are willing to expose yourself with the descend wyvern , why? Because each time you hit the monster, the damage of the silkbind attack grows. If you combine this with a stunt bug, you'll knock down a monster at least 1 time per hunt. Some more tips I can offer. Don't blindly follow meta sets. Meta sets are optimized for DPS and nothing else and typically expect you to play riskily. Basically Meta Sets won't magically make you win more if you aren't already good at the game yourself. Tip 2. As much as the video above say that your Valstrax set is useless. It is still sorta useful till around Mid to late MR2 because its Defense is pretty comparable to the early MR armors when fully upgraded. At late MR 2 though I recommend making a new set. Final Tip. Farm Everything. This is Master Rank. Every monster. From early game to endgame, Small to Big, has something worth farming for. Be it a material for armor, weapon upgrade, or for a Decoration.
@TheBenignSeraphim2 жыл бұрын
Farming everything in a new tank is ESSENTIAL! Every quest I did I was traveling on foot taking out any small life, outcrops and gathering points I could find. It's great to have that stuff handy for decos or some of the more interesting armor/weapons (like my sweet snakeskin Remora chest)
@The_Argent_Dragon2 жыл бұрын
I feel like one thing you neglected to mention is learning which weapons have attacks with superarmor (some wirebug attacks, you mentioned counters but not all of them are) , or tackles such as hbg or gs, as while it may not reduce the damage you take a huge margin, sometimes the better distance wirebug attacks can give and more control of your position you get over say, a roll, can be more valuable than that even for some chip damage, and some weapons sheathe time is harder to get into panic dive from than others. And in the case of heavy bowgun roll or sword mode swaxe... Your rolls and dodges aren't ideal. There's also some value in getting used to rolling towards monsters rather than away in regards to basic common attacks like tail swipes, and honestly the best advice to reduce the amount of carts you get is to spend a little time observing the monster's moveset if even just for a little bit-- don't get carried but if you're in multiplayer and fighting a new monster, observe more experienced players as they fight it first from a safe distance, get a feel for how the thing moves, and go from there. In MH, knowledge is power, and so is the community. One thing I liked about world was how easy it was to join a lobby of someone new most of the time, and I've had people stay to learn from me and was more than willing to teach them what I know, to me thats the best part of the game. I think we should encourage players not to be afraid to communicate in game and ask more experienced players questions about monsters or weapons they don't know, or maybe haven't mastered.

This video is great except for recommending zero-sum discharge attaches as a safe option for switch axe. Over half of my switch axe carts are from attaching to the monster at the wrong time. You almost never want to do it when the monster is raging and if you attach to a dangerous zone or take damage early when you get on you need to be ready to do the early release and get to safety. The absolute safest thing to do with switch axe when monsters are raging is to just spam basic ZR switch attacks. Go in, do one or two, dodge, do one or two again, dodge. If you have rapid morph it should be quick and the damage will be decent. If you have evade extender 2 you shouldn't have any problem getting in and out.

I have found that running skills like dereliction and bloodlust (even jusy I level) seriously forces you to play carefully. Bloodlust especially creates incentive for being aggressive but the health also makes you play safe. The stamina use reduction buff is really nice too on stamina heavy weapons like dual blades
@ncamon2 жыл бұрын
There is a dango that heals you when you switch scrolls. This stacks with the abilities the increase healing. Dual blades has a bug with it that doubles the healing. There is a skill decoration that lets the scroll switch heal you of most abnormal status, and will heal heal if it clears the status as well. Unfortunately it requires an Espinas Mantle. There is a dango that will increase your defense and buddy performance by using the shake or high five command. You find this by telling the buddies to "wait" with the action bar, and then interact with them. The buff lasts for 2 or 3 minutes.

It really depends on your playstyle and how adept you are how long you can take your High Rank armor with you, but here a few tips from a mostly solo player: -If you run off an edge, you get a free wirehang that doesn't count against your wirebug count and you can Wire dodge out with B to extend your jump range -After a Great Wirebug, you don't get a free wirehang, but you can still use B once before needing to use a wirebug -(For IG users) if you run off an edge, you can B right afterwards. -(For DB users) Beyblade'ing across a monsters back is NOT safe (While I watch Attack on Titans, see Beyblade more than Levi in that move), most thrust the monsters do will catch and hit you -(For DB Users) The Demon Flight upward bounce (the one that puts you in the position to Beyblade/Levi) has I-frames on it and you sometimes have enough time to do one quick aerial hit before letting rip on their back. -(For LS users) The two attacks out of Iai Sheath, (at time of writing I'm not sure about Sacred Sheath as I don't use it much) count as 'draw attacks' so they proc Punishing Draw and Critical Draw -(Shield users) Sometimes blocking will put you in a worse situation. Too many scenarios to list them all, but be sometimes its safer to just sheath and MOVE!

I'd say even better than your examples of "safe moves": Learn which moves have little to no end lag, the moves you can evade out of at a moment's notice, and use them whenever you're unsure how big of an opening the monster will have. Sure a more committal move will do more damage in the moment, but if you get hit you have to heal and will likely end up doing the same or worse damage than if you'd played it safe.

Mister Captain Astronaut, I should have joined your discord before because I am getting tired of people dying and capturing my monsters on my join quests. I need to make a sticker that says "NO TRAP ONLY KILL". I always feel anxious collecting birds before hitting the monster but it's always worthwhile so I appreciate your support. I have to admit though there have been a couple times where I joined somebody else's quest, I was catching birds along a route I know is efficient for catching birds, and within a minute or two everybody else trapped the monster and the quest ended. If there's a blue symbol under the monster obv it's more important to hustle to get over there but otherwise I don't think there's any way of knowing how close to death the monster is? I don't actually want to free ride on somebody else's work.

Pay a lot of attention on your team’s moves especially on gunlance users. Chances are they’ll use Bullet Barrage on a downed monster and this may knock everyone in the air especially on smaller monsters that cover less ground. I can’t count the amount of times in a hunt I’m knocked back just before a big combo by a gunlance user that spams bullet barrage regardless of where it will land. . Also Dango Bird caller is perfect for people whose build revolve around a glass canon playstyle since all you need is a short route and in the span of a minute your health and stamina will be full. With this in mind, the petalace that gives the most health benefit a lot and it makes to take another hit instead of instantly getting one shot (and chances are you will if you completely disregard spiritbirds on the way to the monster)

I'm no mh veteran, but reasonable (I think) at action games. Outside of a few exceptions (Teostra), I've been able to take down a new monster solo on the first try... The issue isn't the dying, it's the fact that the later (e.g. MR5) monsters are so aggressive that the few hits I'm able to get in means they take me 25-30 minutes to beat!!! Speed run vids make me feel so average!!
@Ramona1220032 жыл бұрын

Speedrun videos are, quite frankly, insane and completely unrealistic relative to real gameplay. You basically never need to use them as a reference for normal play, ever, except if you can learn tech from them. Why? Because speedruns aren't spontaneous. They're often planned out, meticulously routed down to the second as often as possible. The most optimized runs are the product of countless hours of trial and error, planning, and literally just savescumming until the game starts a runner in the perfect spot to encounter the monster at the exact right time. Freestyle runs aren't like that, but they are still representative of an utterly minuscule percentage of the community, so it's nothing to be too bothered by. Honestly? In my books, 49:50 is a win to celebrate. If the monster is dead and you aren't triple carted or timed out, you win, and are both fully permitted and contractually obligated to celebrate. Sure, a standard of 10-15 minutes may be better for farming, but the kitty cart isn't going to haul back elder dragon asscheeks for you. If you really want to, it's attainable, but don't sweat it until then.
@tylerkauffman77722 жыл бұрын
Slight problem I have is that the attaching move for swaxe (zero sum) is not very safe imo. For most monsters you fight against, you’ll end up taking damage while attached and you will just keep taking damage until you unattach. For example, rathian. If you attach to tail or face, you are at risk to double tail flips or fireballs (both of which can knock you out or stun you). Be wary of using zero sum if you may attach to a monster part that deals a lot of damage to you.
