Personally, I like to stack immunizer and gourmet fish for free health Regen during hunts, the effect is the same as the kushala set bonus, it means I can more effectively DPS and I spend less down time healing as long as I'm able to successfully Dodge the monsters hits, the only drawback is over the time it's going to take for one immunizer to expire you will have to eat about five gourmet fish, but if you stack it with recovery up, it's no biggie, since one fish with the skill and immunizer recovers as much as a mega potion and almost as fast, also, sushi fish make a great substitute for potions since they don't really need to be crafted, gain back just as much health (and I think cure bleed?), And great whetfish sharpen your weapon in ONE cycle, useful for the discerning gunlance player like myself since I always love spamming burst shot, but you don't have to put on speed sharpening, so that's nice. Plus, farming some types of fish is easy with to dine, and enough clout put into the argosy trader, and you can use motley mix to easily get buttloads of gourmet fish and dango tickets. I have only tried mh rise demo, but the poison is somehow really weak in rise? I recently decided to get back into monhun and chose mh3p, and the poison really saps the health and with fast tick too, compared to what i observe in rise demo
@nervaaugustus70892 жыл бұрын
Something to cure poison is essential, but actual Antidotes are worse than worthless. They take time to drink, time that the poison is using to tick your health away to nothing, and can be interrupted if not fully drank before you get hit or roll. Use Herbal Medicines, instead - not only are they almost instantaneous, but they give you a little bit of that health back, too. They're also so commonly obtained from Motley mixes (seriously, you get some every time you motley mix some excess mushrooms), that I often find I have more Herbal Meds than I ever do Antidotes.
@nervaaugustus70892 жыл бұрын
@@Crustee0 Normal poison's weak, but don't underestimate it if you're already hurting. It ticks faster than you might realize. Venom, on the other hand (the nasty stuff inflicted by Chameleos and the Apex Raths) will eat your health faster than you can say "holy storm drains, Batman!"

There's an actual Felvine item too that you can get that makes it so if the Melynx and Felynes in the wild try to steal from you, they'll steal that instead of your good shit. Though in rise they are like... extremely passive... and kind of just sit there watching you... and then they may just steal a regular potion. They really did tone down the whole item theft in the game.

something else to note is that if you have a hunting horn with sonic waves as one of its songs (as many of the game's best horns do), you wont need to worry about bringing sonic bombs at all. sonic waves now do damage in Rise, but they still retain their old ability of working as a sonic bomb built into your weapon.

Personally I just bring as much healing items, bombs, traps (no tranqs though unless I need something specific), sonic and flash bombs I can carry. Also honey so I can craft mega potions on the fly instead of drinking normal potions like a fool. I also bring the ingredients for the ammo I use if I go with a Bowgun instead of melee. It’s usually Stickies and Clusters because those are the fun ones. Nothing like annoying the hell out of your Longsword teammates by sending them flying.
@nervaaugustus70892 жыл бұрын
My item loadout is typically this: *Potions, Mega Potions* - I get hit, I ain't ashamed of it. I don't mind sucking down some healing when my dumb ass gets slapped around a bit. Use first aid med+ first, followed by megas though - if you turn auto-crafting on, picking up honey in the field will automatically upgrade your regulars into new megas to replace the ones you used. You can also turn on auto-crafting to immediately turn herbs into replacement normals, and first aid meds into first aid med+ by picking up honey. Saves a lot of hassle on mid-hunt medicine upgrades. I don't use max or ancient pots; if I'm hurt enough that a mega won't heal it, I just retreat a bit and use two. Remember that potions heal more if you take the time to go through the whole drinking animation, and you can sprint to move a bit faster while doing so. *Well-done Steaks* - Because going into battle with crap stamina is a Bad Idea. One steak will instantly max out your max stamina and fully fill the bar (this is why I don't touch ancient potion), and you can use EZ rations from the box to keep it stable in a fight. *Traps and Tranqs* - Unless fighting an Elder Dragon, these can shave minutes off the end of a fight or create great openings for you and your allies to beat down a monster. I usually go for a cap unless my allies ask for a kill; tends to make getting rarer stuff like monster gems easier. *Large/Mega Barrel Bombs* - I like blowing up sleeping monsters when my partners in MP let me do so. Also, Rise introduces a lot of dope bomb tricks you can do when your allies won't let you put a monster to sleep. Climb up a wall, and wiredash over the monster's head - if you use a LBB or MBB in the air, you'll drop it down on them like you were doing your best Bazelgeuse impression, and you can do this three times in a single jump to carpet-bomb a monster. Outstanding for getting back breaks on Raths or Diablos, or snapping the wings off Chameleos, Teostra, and Kushala Daora. *Dung Bombs* - Considering that event quest Rajangs can kill you in a single grab, I've learned the hard way that these are absolutely lifesaving. Also you can still use 'em to get rid of monsters you don't wanna deal with, if they won't be nice enough to leave on their own, or forcing a monster to retreat so you can catch your breath. Just remember that if Magnamalo's fire turns pink, these will NOT work until he does his spastic circle charge & divebomb attack. *Flash Bombs* - Dunks fliers like Kushala, Teostra, and the Raths, and buys you some breathing room against anything else except Khezu. You can also use it to interrupt super attacks like Almudron's Mud Crash, Teostra's Supernova, Kushala's Vacuum Tornado and Chameleos's Venom Frenzy. *Charms/Talons* - Passively provides more stats. Always carry these once they're unlocked. *Lifepowder/Dust of Life* - Great for pulling allied asses out of the fire. *Herbal Medicines* - Better than Antidotes for curing poison. They don't have the long drinking animation an antidote has, and they give you some of the health the poison stole from you back. *Nullberries* - I almost want to call these situational. Fireblight and Hellfireblight can be cured with wirebugs or rolling, same with Blastblight, Thunderblight's pretty negligible if you avoid taking unnecessary hits, and you can roll around on dry land or use a couple wiredashes to cure waterblight and iceblight faster. Dragonblight, though, singlehandedly justifies the use of nullberries, especially if you're fighting Kushala Daora or C.G. Valstrax. If you're wearing Valstrax armor, you can go without berries since you have nothing to fear from blights - you *benefit* from Dragonblight and once you have Dragonblight on you, you'll have so much resistance that other blights can't stick. *Armor/Demon Powder* - Makes the whole team hit harder and not die as easy. Great for ensuring that your buddies make it through the hunt with minimum carting. I try to remember to toss them out before tough attacks, like Allmother Narwa's Dragonator Spin and whenever Magnamalo's flames turn pink. Everything else is much more situational or build-specific, like Dash Juice for running Bow/DBs, carrying ammo or coatings for guns and bows, and the like.

Small barrel bombs should be situational imo. If you are using GS it's literally broken. If a monster is down somehow you can put the bomb charge ur attack from draw then mash the strongarm stance and boom. Longsword is nice aswell. You can use it on a downed monster or to proc wyvern ride. to do a free ia spirit counter or a sacred sheath manual release counter into roundslash this is a free gauge. To do this either toss a bomb up and do spirit combo 1 draw attack and immediately do ur sheath counter move you need qs3 for this to work but qs is Mandetory imo no matter what. If you have tempered spirit blade you can get red gauge for free. It's a nice way if you only use sacred combo for wakeup dammage. It's the same setup with the stationary bomb. Place bomb draw spirit combo 1 then tempered spirit. Do this 3 times and ez red guage at the start of the hunt. Can easially open with sacred combo. Tempered blade is usually used imo when you can't get wirebug whisperer 3 to spam Sakura slash to build guage. Also if ur using longsword and the monster is asleep you can lay two mega bombs on his head, then turn away stand like 3-4 feet away. Face away wirebug toss the barrel bomb into the air. Do the spirit combo 1 draw then immediately use the spirit counter stance and press towards the monster to turn around. You won't get knocked back from this as the counter gives s AND it hits the monster before the bombs. Meaning it get the bonus rather than the bombs. And this will do a shitload of dammage. One last tip If ur in a team and can communicate. Do a wakeup sacred combo 3 on the monster with positioning try to land the second hit then the third and have like a shit ton of mega barrel bombs. Sence the combo has super armor you won't get knocked back if your doing the wakeup. While ur doing this have someone throw a mega bomb from the air or toss a normal one to proc the bombs after you hit the monster but before you hit the bombs with the third attack.

Man, having all these items and the lack of usefulness compared to the previous games spelled out like that really bums me out. To be fair, I've started with World but even I wouldn't mind getting paintballs or even finite pickaxes back. They definitely went too far with the streamlining of the items in Rise, imo.
@marcusaaronliaogo91583 жыл бұрын
Tbh, the only item that unusually lack usefulness is the dung. The other items are just as useful as the old games use them. Nobody use energy drinks in multiplayer even during the old games.
@lijahgil3 жыл бұрын
I want everything back finite pickaxes/ whetstones/ bug nets, hot/cold drinks, no restocks, paintball but I would prefer if they managed to use scoutflies in tandem with it. So instead of having the monster marked on the map after you paintball it the scoutflies will show tracks and lead you to your paintball which is on the monster. I agree with Rise being to streamlined, I find the game shallow as a result of that and difficulty which preparation does have an affect on. With Rise we don't actually hunt the monsters due to less required preparation and no tracking, I hope MH 6 puts more emphasis on preparation and smart/strategic play. Preparation and difficulty are core parts of the series and Rise has the least of these out of any game in the series.

Also whitefish acts like speed sharpening. It doesn't stack with it. It is a set value. Normal whitefish sharpen in two cycles and can be bought from argosy items that rotate in batches of 5. Or can be farmed from it. Great whitefish acts like speed sharpening 3. It sharpens in one cycle so it's nice when u don't have ss3 and need to sharpen while the monster is fighting and u don't have a dog to ride. It can be fish farmed easially. Or u can buy it from argosy in batches of 1.

Personally when it comes to bombs in Rise, my friends and I enjoy detonating them with the status frogs you find around the maps! Few things are more satisfying than putting a monster to sleep, using bombs to do massive damage to a part, and then having it be immediately paralyzed, blasted, or poisoned.
@nervaaugustus70892 жыл бұрын
No toads? No small barrel bombs? Don't wanna take the damage? It's cool, you can also detonate bombs *really* effectively by utilizing a Gunlance's Wyvern's Fire attack, Wyvern Ammo from a Heavy Bowgun (or fully charged piercing/elemental piercing ammo), a Bow's Dragon Piercer attack, or a Greatsword's True Charged Slash. In a pinch, you can also just toss a kunai at your bombs to detonate them.
