I think some of the pirate milestones should've been retroactive, so that if you've done some commendations they already count. Additionally, regular commendations should award ship items. It would be amazing if completing every one of the sea fort commendations awarded you a mini sea fort model trophy.

I fully agree with this. As much as I love the idea of milestones I can't help but feel cheated out of all the commendations I've put a grind into. It makes it feel like ground zero for everyone; which is great for new players, but kind of a rip off of veterans. In addition, trinkets for commendations would be amazing and logical. It would make commendations feel less useless and insight new and old players alike to level both them and milestones up. A final note, is that I was sorely disappointed about the lack of any PvP milestones.

Any grade 5 Hunter's Call commendations that you had completed are already counted toward milestones, but the fish you caught to get them aren't. It makes no sense.

A big wish for me for the Sloop is to be able to close up the back of the ship with a canvas, add an option that can be rolled up or down; Also the curtains above the quest table. Another would be the option to add a captain's chair at the Quest table , same in the brig. Basically just find a way to put as many cosmetics as possible in the other 2 ships so they can be somewhat on par with the level of customization with the Gally.

Bit of a long one but I have three main wishes for captaincy: - more interaction between captained ships. E.g. tracking of which ship has sunk you the most, which has been most friendly, or just a ship you have ‘liked’. Tracking their progress or even when you load in you pick up a note which could stick to your map hinting at what other captained vessels you might/have encountered. - more guaranteed loot from ship sinks which can scale according to the size of the adversary e.g. the ships canons therefore being more beneficial if you sink a larger vessel. Maybe even the ability to take the ships crest itself to keep tally of enemy ships sunk. I would prefer if these items were more universal in selling like the Gems mainly because I cannot count the amount of flags I have seen left behind at outposts for me because newer players do not understand who they sell them too. - finally for Rp it would be nice to save “outfits” for you and your crew for sailing on your ship which could be optional for other teamates to wear your assigned ‘uniforms’

There's something close to a "uniform" thing, but i can only think of two examples, one is the pirates of the caribbean costumes and the other one is the ghostly one you got first with an event and now with a commendation at Athena's Fortune Both follow the same concept, the captain has its own unique skin and the crew has 3 diferent costumes to chose from

I meant more as in custom ones using the pre existing clothing items so you can mix and match a set for your crew. E.g. Spanish Inquisition, Royal Navy, tucclords etc.

i have an idea regarding pirate legends, some concept art (official and fan concepts) showed many variants of the 3 ship sizes so what if they made captaincy ships with these unique varients that contained more trinkets slots and stuff but as PL exclusives, so you can better tell which captains are fresh swabbies and which are going at the end game

Been enjoying season 7 a lot, I felt an incentive to go out and slay as many phantoms as possible which was a feeling I've missed; working towards something. I can't be bothered to consciously strive for any trophies more advanced than the wooden frame/ base but hopefully I will progress them organically in the future. I do think captaincy could have been quite a bit better but for a starting point I'm very happy with this update. Love all the little ornaments too, something about them just makes me pleased.

Honestly, I hate the fact that my 4 years on the seas are no longer related to the milestones. Rare clearly do not know how painful it is to slug through all the tall tales, to 100% them. While this may mean players get a headstart, it goes help players stay up to date on their ongoing process since their Maiden Voyage. The data is there so I don't see why the devs haven't used this yet. Another thing would be that any flames of fate, that you have acquired would stay on captain'd ships. Which would obviously allow quicker stacked FotD and thus increased PvP. Lastly, they STILL haven't allowed the galleon doors to be closed and locked.

In my opinion, they need to fully rework the F/Interact-key. It feels like there's way too much stuff I can do with it on the ship. Like sitting/map table/picking up loot and now trinkets. Sometimes it's pretty annoying to get the right item into focus (Idk if it's just me but I usually accidentally grab the harpoon instead of loot). Like I thought from the beginning how it's weird to start sitting with pressing F and not using the sitting emote and depending on where you stand and in what direction you look you start sitting in a certain place. There's probably a lot more you can do.

There is so much wrong with the control scheme but I figure it's rather hard to fix it when you must support controllers. It's not only that too many things share the same key but it's also not consistent. How many times have I picked up a ammo crate, why can't the stationary crates also refill with the same key as the mobile ones? ARRRR

I'm hoping they add something along the lines of a ship curse for captains. Lots of potential there that would really make captained ships stand out. Maybe they make it the final reward for the ship. Could have a ghostly one, one that adds a fog around the ship, a barnacled one. Maybe even some positive ones that have dolphins swimming around the ship or leaves a golden wake behind you.

There is soo much cool stuff that they could do with captaincy. One idea I had is that you could choose your music. That is to say when you come a crossed a captain ship and it shows the banner I could imagine a sort of boss music playing in the background the ship with better stats gets priority but if one ship is getting a clear advantage then their music will override the others. Oh and I guess both themes stop if an alliance is formed.

I think milestones should remain basic goals for high amounts of basic actions performed, and commendations should be specific specialized actions

I really would love more furniture such as hammocks/bunks, bookshelves, etc in more places than just the captain’s cabin, as you described. It would definitely give ships more character (especially if you can customize the new furniture as well). Another thing I would add would be more furniture/trinket spots on the sloop and brig as well as the ability to close the captain cabin’s door on the galleon. Obviously that would need heavy balancing, but I think it would be a very immersive feature.

On the topic of reaper runs, I was thinking that any Reapers who accept the challenge of hunting other players should see or receive a bounty for a specific captain on the server, instead of automatically knowing where said Captain is, the Reapers in question are given a reaper exclusive talisman of sorts, sort of like a gold hoarders wayfinder compass, indicating which region their target is located but not their exact coordinates, after all they are hunting down a bounty. Conversely, the pirate Captain with the bounty itself is notified that he or she has a bounty on their head, they have two options at this point. 1. They could go to any of the outposts including Reapers, to buy off their bounty, this would be the easy way out 2. They could fight off their reaper attackers Thanks the season 7 update, every captain ship comes with a captain's log book, turning this in under the above conditions, should net a sizable payout for either side

The update has definitely created new things to look forward to and grind the game further for new cosmetics, but how long will it take for people to get tired of doing the same things over and over again, the same quests, the same loot and so on, just for new cosmetics. I think Rare needs to add a new gameplay element or feature to keep it fresh and exiting, lotv was a step in the right direction but there is potential for more. I also miss arena ;(.

I also wanna see more life on the seas like merchant alliance conveys that sail around between sea posts and outposts. They should think about The possibility of including one cool set (emporium quality) for this new system. They could expand captaincy with your personal hidehout that you should be able to customise being your starting point

I do think that we are just lacking roleplaying stuff. Like the beds for the crew on the lower deck, pirate kitchen with actual table, some sort of storage utilities. The best example I have is the MMO game Archage. There were present the actual boxes on the ships where you could put your cargo in and load the ship so when its full you can actually see what players are sailing with. I wish the ships could actually have something interactive like crates, boxes to store something and etc.

ship curses would be cool, like for players but way harder to achive but not only does it make your ship fine as hell but it gives you abilities such as if u use ashen curse on your pirate and ship, u will unlock the abiltiy to be imune of fire damage but u have to equip both curses, and the hardest curse to get for your pirate and ship is davy jone's curse, you can go under water, u can summon the kraken and u can breath underwater and swim 20% faster, but it gotta have cooldown, like summoning the kraken got an 1 hour cooldown and going underwater got a 20 minute cooldown

Bringing back Wandering Reaper voyages is a win-win. New players get to play old content, the hordes of vets begging for it (as well as pvpers desperate for content) finally shut up. However, without saying specifics, I've got the impression Rare has zero intention of doing this because of the Pirate's Life refugees who actively dislike pvp. Also if you are trying to bring back wandering reaper cosmetics I'll give 100% of my free time to removing Eastern Winds cosmetics. I'll do it.

i really wish they added customisation for the actual model of the ship, like you said lanterns and harpoons, but also the style of the railing, extra little dangly sail parts on the masts, the bow sprit (ie being damaged or having chains hang from it like on the ferry) or maybe even extra beams of wood like we see with the bones on the sides of skele ships or, again, the beams coming off the back of the ferry that accentuate form of it. wouldbe so much cooler when a ship has rendered in, that you see a unique silhouette because of how it has been customised.

More ship variety amung captain ships. What separates a ship, from the rented one, more than making your personal ship better and worse in different areas? An example would be an option to add two other bows that aim low to snare opponent ships at the cost of hull integrity. Or extra sails at the cost of visibility and angling speed. Or crows nests on all mast, again, at the cost of angling speed. The list could go on.

About Captain's supplies.... I love that we can buy bait now. I love the fishing but collecting bait is tedious. I'm happy enough with it as it is, but it would be nice to also choose the bait you want. If you want to go fishing for devil fish you can just buy grubs. etc. And it would be nice if you could buy bait at fishing posts.

I wish some of the in-ship customizations matched some of the old ship cosmetics. I have the full Collector’s Dark Warsmith cosmetic ship set. I can’t find any interior customizations that would match with it. Coming out with a set ti match the specific set, especially since I spent a lot of money on it, would be nice.

Not quite sure what to call it, but it's something I notice in a lot of SoT players more than a lot of other multiplayer games - an ingrained "Argument from Inertia" almost, with a touch of Cost Bias, it comes across as a lot of veteran players saying "We went through this grind, so we should be the focus" SoT updates are focused on the new player experience and player retention, not on end-game which doesn't _actually_ exist. A lot of grindy games really don't have an end-game, it's an industry issue atm, but SoT has been a unique experience for me when seeing that people aren't internalizing that; not saying that's bad, actually. It's just an interesting thing to see some people cling to this rather than just accepting the industry issue.

Great video, I think they need to redo the inside of the sloop and brig so that you can have a captains chair and Chandelier so everyone can enjoy all the captaincy content, as mainly a solo slooper and rarely on a galleon it kinda sucks that I wont ever get to enjoy them, Its like you said that they want everyone to be a captain which I agree with you that it should have been a Pirate legend thing, but if they are gonna let everyone do it then all captaincy stuff should be for everyone as well

As far as future events and the like rewarding trinkets instead of cosmetic clothing for example, im actually in the camp of hoping for this, i like the idea that rare now has more options for rewards during events, Clothing and costumes are definitly neet, but not always something i wanna wear, but if its a trinket, then i can proudly and permanently show my participation in said events all the time while keeping my look. It also opens the door for new adventures to be more than just a single cosmetic and a title, i was honestly getting quite bored of that, i have other titles iv worked hard on and choose to wear, so alot of the time i just ignore the "complete" challenges of some adventures, now if they have trinkets related to them i will be much more likely to finish them. I had been hoping for events to have some new method of rewards, personally i really want them to add rings to the game, imagine if you had a cool FoTD themed ring from Halloween or something.

I like to shut off my lanterns, close my hatches, organize my barrels, and sky-aim all my swivels, before I set out. Let me lock those as a starting configuration, so it spawns-in that way automatically, once captaincy is achieved.

For the future we can continue to get new milestones like in season 8 but also new grades for trinkets added sometimes as play style will make some maxed easily and new ones just adds more future prodding also we need ship interior redesigns and maybe some slight outside ones to fit the interior so we have a lot more room for trinkets and the other ship cosmetics as currently it’s like a Frankensteins monster with the boats due to stuff being added later and just tacked on I mean the barrels are so uneccessary as sitting spots bellow deck are not that needed mainly on a sloop and a little stool makes more sense and that can be customized

They need to fix some bugs with the log book. The longer term stats aren't registering in the book and the book keeps resetting like I sunk between sessions. They need to make the ship on a finished session despawn like the Skelly ships instead of making it sink leaving behind the log book. If the ship is persistent between sessions, the log book needs to be as well. They basically have a current session/total unsunk time divide in the book.

Some unsinkable crews would stack up unholy amounts of supplies across multiple sessions while other crews that might be just as unsinkable but just not play as much have therefore less supplies accumulated. Some naval battles would end up in a tie if it wasn't for limited supplies so this would make these fights a whole lot different. Loosing your supplies upon sinking also adds that little bit of risk you have to invest in before buying them. Also it just makes sense that supplies are gone once your ship is gone. Realism isn't a big part of this game I know, I just thought I'd point this out as well. :o) Other than that: Yes to all of your points.

I love most of the update, however I've noticed a large increase in getting sunk or just dealing with constant interpretation to captain voyages. I get it pvp whenever but as a casual gamer I can't continue to play something where a couple hours of work goes to the bottom of the sea because someone wanted ro sink a ship at a random island. PvP kills the PvE and I will not apologize to pvper for what I like but I do ask just let some of us complete voyages see a sloop at a random island with sails up maybe just leave but I get it MUST PVP, so ggs enjoy I guess. I'll find something that won't make hours of effort be for nothing. Ps. Most of the time said sinking happened i had no loot onboard and the still ladder guarded me from my own ship while sinking it....just wanted to try captain voyages

I’d like them to add trinkets and milestones to the already existing tall tales and the Pirate’s Life story. Whilst I love all my POTC cosmetics, it’d be cool to have Jack’s compass as a trinket, maybe it acts like the gold vault compasses and always points at your voyage location. It would also be cool to have some dynamic trinkets. Live skeleton heads that hiss when you walk past them, eldritch order of souls paraphernalia that floats and glows or even a new type of pet that lives in a cage or tank.

Also, completely agree with the supplies idea. I only bought them for the first time the other day to complete a trial. I’m so poor in this game now because I’m constantly buying trinkets, I don’t have 2000 to spare!

Those supplies are maybe not worth the cost for some people but for me with a goldstash big enough to swim in it does save me allot time gathering supplies each session.

Only reason we use the brig, (jail brig) is when we want to change the lantern color because we have an ocd onboard

About the supplies, an idea hit my mind when m mind hit the pillow: So what if barrels on your ship had limits like 200 items or something like that and everything above that you would need to store in a crate. You would lose the crates when you logged out or sunk, but you would keep the contents of your barrels indefinatly until you use them. What do you guys think about this?

I’d really like the restoration of the ship to be customisable. I like my hull peppered with shots but my steering wheel aesthetics irks me! So I’d like to be able to fix my wheel, Capstan separately.

I'd love to be able to have a chair and other things you can change only on galleon like chair etc. on other ships, ex. map and captains table should be switched on a sloop, and a chair and other things should be added so that it looks more like the real captains cabin

I think captaincy is mostly good but definitely should've only been for pirate legends. It doesn't make sense to captain a ship if you haven't progressed to that level in the game. Also I feel like the customisation coulda been better, especially if they had some kind of system so you could like choose where certain things went and change the layout a bit. apart from that captaincy is a win

Captaincy should have given the ability to yo change things about your ship such as being able remove canons to make your ship faster or adding canons to give it more fire power.

What bugs me the most is that is insiders recommended most, if not all, of these changes yet they didn't listen. I'd understand if it was too late but we said it long before captaincy was set to launch, and it's theoretically not too difficult to add.

I like to see a stat for ships sank in the log book . I like to see how many ship I sank of player or other ppl books how many they sank

I just hope they change somehow milestones , it's just really... I don't know how to say it but hope they make it more fun. I have been grinding the feared by going to the Shores of Gold and just killing the Skellys Rathbone summons , literally. And it just works really well... But obviously it's not the most fun thing to do ;)
