You are basically forcing them away from their homes and families by trapping them in all too small tanks and then you EXPECT them to be HAPPY?!!! you are most insane. @@CeeceeWhip Another reason to spread awareness and get people to *boycott* Sea World. I remember my Uncle taking me to Sea World in TX once when I was little. It was a family trip. Even at the age of 9 it bothered me to see such magnificent, intelligent creatures confined to swimming pools. 😞 I know now they were all Orcas kidnapped from the Southern Residents here in the PNW. So many young ones ripped away from their mothers. It makes me ashamed to be a human when I think about what they went through. 🖤

@ no, I wouldn’t. I would love to see them one day in the wild though, that would be a dream come true. My mom offered to take me on a vacation to Tenerife to see them at SeaWorld, I immediately told her NO, I would never go there because they get treated very badly and they shouldn’t live in captivity. I get it sometimes when they are rescued they can’t return to the wild, but they shouldn’t have to do shows. Their bassins are way too small. They should create something in the ocean, that way they can still be monitored but have more freedom

Thanks for posting an informative video that is honest, not overly sensational. Btw, our local SoundWatch members spotted a new calf traveling with J Pod less than 3 days ago! The proud mama is J-35 aka Tahlequah. She is the Orca famous for carrying her deceased baby for >2 weeks back in 2018. Let's hope food is plentiful enough, so this calf makes it through the winter. Sadly, another member of J Pod lost her calf last winter, after only one month. Lack of food was cited as the likely reason. So far, this year, it appears the Chum salmon are still plentiful enough. Let's all send Tahlequah & her baby our best wishes. 🖤🤍🤞🏻✌🏼

@@captaindrake5253 In another happy twist: L Pod returned to Penn Cove, Washington for the first time in *54 years!* Researchers theorize that there is only one matriarch left who was alive in 1970, when the SRKWs were trapped. She led the pod as they arrived at the cove! This is helping marine biologists understand more about the way Orcas pass down history within their pods. It appears that part of their culture is the sharing of memories, just like us. The whole pod turned up. It was beautiful to see them reclaiming a part of Puget Sound that was once the site of a terrible tragedy. Penn Cove is where the Orcas were herded & trapped back in 1970. At least seven calves & young whales were kidnapped, including baby Tokitae. Sadly, five Orcas drowned that day, tangled in the nets used to herd these beautiful creatures. They were trying to find a way out to save their young ones. I posted a link the other day but KZbin zapped the whole comment. If you Google "L Pod Returns to Penn Cove, WA" you can read about it firsthand!

There was a study on orca here in the PNW, South Sound and Straits of Jaun de Fuca. Because we are losing our local populations. It was discovered that the orcas livers were failing. Micro abrasions from PCBs were discovered. Tracking down the most likely source was toilet paper. Smaller fish consume the bits and it goes up the chain to salmon. I committed to stoo flushing toilet paper. As it travels out the wastewater treatment plants and into the sound, since finding this out.

Notice how careful they are when we're to them in the water too. I mean these guys can swim over 30 mph and they ain't exactly little. But around us they simply know to be very gentle.
