Those were flaperons, not elevons. You had them set up backwards. You were dumping lift on the wing whenever you pulled up elevator, so your wing was fighting any up or down elevator input. Flaperons are used a lot in gliders and DLGs. You want them on a switch or slider, not coupled to the elevator, and ideally adjustable in flight (slider or stick input). On a glider or dlg the throttle stick is commonly used to drop the flaperons and throttle is put on a switch.

My apologies but the reason why it failed was all you. 1) the low battery. 2) the configuration of the controls on the craft. 3) you didn’t bother to change the servos out knowing that they were damaged. 4) all the crashes it took and you didn’t bother to check everything and make sure to do all the preflight checks before taking it out to fly.🤷🏻♂️💯👍

I have one of these, and it flys pretty good.....have destroyed the lading gear though. I just set it up as a delta wing. Rudders are normal rudders, and the wings are just delta elevons like a Mirage or Concorde
@TylerNally Жыл бұрын
My understanding of the f-117 fighter is that it was intentionally overpowered to be able to make it fly. Because of the angles ( to make it stealthy) of the skin of the plane it could barely fly with underpowered engines. So they needed to overpower it in order to give it enough lift to get it into the air. Doesn't surprise me that you had trouble with this particular plane as it just doesn't fit the normal aerodynamic Bernoulli effect with normal wing configurations.
@Blizofoz45 Жыл бұрын
And these gyro-stabilized flight controllers we use these days are the same type of tech they used in onboard computers to keep the F-117 and B-2 from falling out of the sky.
@pitcheung5354 Жыл бұрын
yes, and the real plane can fly, but very slow.
@juki6377 Жыл бұрын
also the real one is not designed to fly, but for stealth its packed with servos to allow it to fly but another childhood favourite i would have gone crazy seeing an rc one :)
@grim4this Жыл бұрын
Yup, and then you wack a camera on it just to make sure it has no chance.
@gort8203 Жыл бұрын
No such thing as an overpowered airplane, but even if that were true, you can't say the airplane is overpowered if it needs that power "to be able to able to make it fly". By the way power (thrust) doesn't provide lift, it opposes drag. Lift is provided by the wing of this airplane in the same way as other wings. The airplane has a lot of drag and is unstable, but that has nothing to do with lack of lift or too much thrust.

I just watched your video and I feel for you. I bought this plane as a Christmas gift to myself a couple of months ago and it’s exactly the same crap as yours. Gear doesn’t work right and bomb doors don’t open. The servos are the worse I’ve ever encountered and it makes me wish I bought the kit version rather than the pnp one. I’ve bought a 6 channel RM elrs receiver and I’m going to replace all servos. I’m determined to get this thing up in the air at some point. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more of your videos!

That's something I learned after buying PNP jets. Better off buying the kit and putting your own power plant in. I have to laugh at how these companies market these jets as something you can have put together and be flying an hour after opening. I haven't come across one jet that I haven't had to go all through and make modifications before maidening. I'm sure you know exactly what I mean.

Hey, the real F-117 is so unstable in its flight design that it absolutely would not be capable of human controlled flight without its computerized flight stabilization system. Why would a miniature be any different?? Advice: get a more conventional design R/C aircraft and have fun instead of fits!
@FarrellMcGovern Жыл бұрын
Looks like your F-117 was a tempermental as the real one! Add to that it was not a stable aircraft to fly, and needed a lot of computer-assist to remain stable. I bet that if it had SAFE like other planes have it would be easier to fly.

Not only is EPS foam lighter and stiffer than EPO foam, for this plane is very scale. The full size plane is very fragile and has very delicate radar absorbing material on it's skin so any hangar rash replicates damage the full size plane would suffer. The full size also flies like crap.🤣🤣

This plane isnt a complete piece of crap as you put it, you are just not that familiar with the modifications that are needed to properly fly this plane. This plane needs an experianced rc airplane flyer and builder, while i agree it should work out of the box without any modifications, most foam rc planes require some modifications to work properly, as an example if you had a voltage monitor or beeper you wouldnt keep crashing due to low voltage, that isnt the planes fault, you need to respect the fact that they tried to make a cool model that no other manufacturers make.
@larsulrich3356 Жыл бұрын
Elevons(pitch and roll mixture) are generally never placed on rudder control surfaces. They're placed on the wing(aileron) surfaces. I got a couple elevon planes and it's best to do it this way. The tail should only be rudder(yaw control). You should remix it and let me know how it goes.
@CAPTAINDRONE798 Жыл бұрын
Did you write this before you watched the entire video??? All the mixes were removed in order to get it to fly correctly. It flies by keeping the ELEVATORS as ELEVATORS and the AILERONS as simple right and left AILERONS.
@larsulrich3356 Жыл бұрын
The f117 tail section doesn't have elevators or a horizontal stab. I just did my research and it works on an elevon system. So the pitch and roll are both set to the wing section control surfaces like other fighter jets use. However fighter jets have extra surfaces than the f-117 because the tail is in all 4 parts. The tail is just a rudder in real life. What they tell you to do is incorrect.

Hi! it looks like your mix made it so the wing looses lift, instead of gaining(flaps); Combined with high angle of attack, low speed, and a swept wing on the flying fridge, it looks like you stalled on the first flight attempt. I've been flying rc planes for over 10 years and it's okay, things like this happen. I totally think that the quality of the plane is garbage, but it's important to crash, *Learn*, fly, repeat.
