Kudos!!!! You are the first one, that I’ve seen, to compare the early to later models of the Nano+ and pointing out the build difference. Then demonstrating there is a performance change. Others simply want to bash the product and move on. I hate saying this (for AutelRobotics) but I believe you discovered a defect which Autel should offer a free repair/update to all who purchased and registered their Autel Nano. In my opinion, that would built more loyalty to the brand. I would love to see the same comparison of the EVO Lite+ as well.

The only difference is the dampers which they said were installed wrong. I’ve taken both quads totally apart and where your a camera guy I’m a tech guy that finds everything. Nothing to see except the dampers being switched around. I got the same replacement as well weeks ago with the correct damper position. All that needed done which you can do to your old one is switch the front dampers to the back and vice versa. Both mine have seem to become very equal in comparison so it’s really not a new model versus old model. It’s a correction and sadly our viewers aren’t getting the same treatment we got in s replacement.

It didn't hit the pad reliably, because you need to let autel drones hover 10 to 15 seconds after launch to take enough images of the landing site. With the Evo 2 it will land within 6 inches every time if you do this, but if you don't you could be many yards/meters off

Now of course I'd like the abiliy to follow a preorpgrammed pattern for mapping like you mentioned in your first review included in the software. It's no a pro while that's still lacking ;). Would be nearly perfect with that ability included. What I'd also like to see: customer-programmable geofencing (restrict the area to the property to be mapped) and customer-programmable obstacles (height and dimensions), so the drone is able to better avoid forseeable unfriendly encounters (especially cables). Thanks for the detailled information!

My dampers are the same but I've had awful problems with the gimbal. After the initial start up and gimbal check, the gimbal just wouldn't work. After weeks of emails to Autel, they finally asked me to return it. I send it to Autel EU who are in Germany (well travelled drone!). Seems there have been other similar issues within the community. This week Autel EU have said they thought it was a camera firmware issue but they have said that they are sending me a new Nano+. Hopefully should get it this week so maybe this is also a newer version with the dampers as yours? Hopefully it is. Hopefully the end of my issues and I can start enjoying it!

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 That is rather unfortunate since both of those options are important to me. They can be done easily enough inside the app (no hardware mods requires), so since you are in communication with Autel and they like your outreach and feedback, can you ask them to PLEASE add these two features soon?

Curious I got a 2021 model and I was on backorder as well it was a white model at .. So from what I csn te at least the rear ones seem to be in the same orientation as your new nano thus correct. What I'm worried about is another guy was saying that they apparently were switched from the front to the back meaning that the front ones would be in the orientation of the old rear Dampeners. Well on my 2021 model still Both the front and the rear dampeners are in the orientation of the your new and correct rear dampeners . So my question is did they mess mine up on the front dampeners or are they both supposed to be in the correct orientation of the rear dampness where the 0 is Vertical is opposed to horizontal.. Both front amd back in the same orientation . And I don't think could be placed horizontal Even.. I'm hoping I got everything correct.. But almost seems like I'm missing proper set of front dampeners.. Thanks for any help

The very first run of NANO+ drones had the dampners on reversed. All models produced in 2022 should look like the newer one I showed in the video.

What phone are you using for the nano? I'm a old xstar flier and switched to mavic mini but can't get my pixel phone to work with it so it's back for sale and I want to switch back to Autel and get a nano

I use the nano with either a very old Samsung Note 8 phone or a more modern iPhone 11 Pro max phone.

It’s a nice drone Steve and a fair review. I do have a question though. Since the new Nano was way off landing pad, will the drone preform a hand catch landing? Thanks
@CAPTAINDRONE7982 жыл бұрын
Yes, pretty much all drones that are GPS drones can be hand caught. Also, if you take any drone on the market and land it 10 times using return to home, it will never land in the same spot all 10 times.
@gregpostdronephotography64992 жыл бұрын
The reason for the question was because you mentioned it would pick up your head on decent. I do a lot of flights in the backcountry where dirt and debris can effect motors. I’ve never had too worry about this with the DJI Mini 2 as I hand catch. Looking forward to a review between the “new Nano + vs DJI Mini 3. Thanks again.

A previous remark answered the question. You should hover for a short period before flying off. It's in the manual.

Thank you Steve! Great review as always 😉 As you spoke to the Autel people in China did they sat that they would fix the gimbal problem on warrenty on the Nano+'s that are outthere already..?

So Steve, I followed your lead and ordered my drone basically a week after you had received yours from RCGoing. When you said you had no problem getting the Nano+ quickly I jumped on it. My drone suffers the same fate as yours. How do I get a replacement drone that has this new dampening system configuration? I have been dealing with both Autel and RC going sending them countless screenshots from my iPhone. Who or how does this replacement happen? Did RC going replace your drone or did Autel replace your drone? Either way please let me know how I can get the newer model?! I would appreciate your help, Tomaso

As in my video, I contacted AUTEL (China) and told them about my issue in cold weather. They asked to see a video of what I was talking about so it was too easy to show my videos that are on KZbin. China also knows who I am, so when I said that I make many comparison videos of the NANO vs other drones (as I have been doing), and mention that the NANO falls short due to the jitters in cold weather, they offered to send me a replacement to try out. The deal is that if the one they sent me works great then I must send back my previous one. RCGOING has nothing to do with this entire issue, it is all AUTEL only.

Thanks for the review, Captain Steve. Looks like an awesome drone, especially now that gimbal issue resolved. How does the Nano Mini handle the wind? My Hubsan Sino Mini Pro went for a salt water swim when I lost control of it trying to land back on my boat on a too windy day. Now in the market for a replacement, hopefully an upgrade. Do you sell your "old" drones?
@CAPTAINDRONE7982 жыл бұрын
All drones work well in the wind. But.... if someone is a newbie pilot then they would be clueless and have the drone in the slow flight speed. Keep in mind the wind rule applies to every drone on the planet and that is.... Any drone can fly in wind as long as the drone's forward speed is faster than the speed of the wind.
