Don't like the hard to change battery. Wondering how easy it is to mod the battery bay so I could change batteries out in the field?

I think you could just run the power cable out to the bottom & strap the battery on the bottom like most helicopters. No requirement to put it inside.

I have one of these from several years back when it was a WLToys product. Fun to fly. It looks so big, but is so docile. I need to get it back out and fly it again. It's currently on display, because it looks nice enough to just be a look-at model, too. Edit: Mine didn't have altitude hold, I don't think. Maybe an upgraded board. Edit 2: I guess XK and WLToys are the same.

I still haven't found a way to remove the battery for replacement! Have you managed to remove the battery for replacement yet?

Yes. When I first received it I took it apart. It is designed more so that you only change the battery once a year, just in case previous battery is not holding a charge. When you take it apart you’ll see that you could modify the design so that you can change the battery every 5 minutes.

Kool,I had such a hard time with v912 sky dancer trying to get it trimmed out right,kept wanting to fly backwards, it was a 4channel from xheli,about same flight time,I ended up crashing a few times before burning up tail motor

Interesting. Normally a gyro on a helicopter is close to the balance point.

No idea as it is not designed to carry anything. So items under a 100 grams would be my guess.

I hear that from next month (Sept 2022) everything RC flying, everything , will have to transmit Remote ID - Will that mean the end of cheap copters like this (or anything cheap that flies?)

That is an issue for USA only and it begins in Sept 2023 (not this year), and by then things will change again.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yes indeed for the flyer, but manufacturers must comply with everything manufactured from September 2022 so the new ones made from that date on must have this function (if 250g and above). Presumably many of the cheap ones will disappear as new from September onwards for the USA - certainly new models at least as it will be illegal to offer them for sale if manufactured from that date. That in itself sounds like a contradiction mind as I also understand that drones without this facility will be able to use designated FAA sites (model clubs and the likes) to use non ID'd fling objects

Left stick is throttle and rudder (yaw). Right stick is pitch forward/backwards and tilt left/right.

I have one of these arriving in a couple of weeks with extra battery and if it fly's as well as your review says it will be fun. The only problem I see is that no one mentions removal and replacement of flight battery. Problematical in my view and looks as if battery will be flat before you can get it out, looks like a modification job here.

I did indeed remove my battery (you remove the screws in the canopy), however, it is only worthwhile if you just tape the canopy down vice removing the screws. Also, I didn't like how the battery was installed, so I modified some plastic (i.e., snapped off) so the battery slides in and out quickly. I passed this helicopter on to a friend so I no longer have it.

Sounds like either the gyro in the helicopter needs to be reset or the trim on your joysticks is off.

I've adjusted the trim, but have this problem every time. Same with the gyro. I calibrate it every time. 🤷‍♂️

wl toy products are awesome, that is why you can't buy them at a hobby shop; also the as 350 is amazing, flies inverted normal controls when you hold it inverted for a moment, then catch inverted

4mph is very Windy on this one & the similar v912 which shares lots of its parts . You cant push hard neither , flybar acts against you . Too many parts to break to call it a begginers Helicopter Capi but, if your careful, not reckless & commited you'll do just fine. Their very nice, gotta watch for Wind , any Wind.

What type of lubrication would you use for those plastic gears? What wouldn’t sling off everywhere or deteriorate the material? Just curious…cheers.

However, if your application requires high operating speeds, high temperatures, or long operation, a better choice would be synthetic lubricants such as hydrocarbon (PAO) types. PAOs are compatible with most plastics, have high aging resistance, and offer long-term lubrication.
