The kit in this review is the original. GEPRC has since updated everything to make it more modern. Tomorrow I have a video coming out concerning kits under $200. This kit is not part of that review as it is over $200. In the future I'll make a vid of more expensive kits and this one may be part of it.

Just bought one for myself. I have a DJI air 2 as my first drone and this will be my second . I bought my little brother the betafpv advanced kit . Was gonna get me one too until I saw this . Thank you for the video. I think if the 4K is good enough. I might train myself to use this in real estate . I’m a real estate agent so these ideas are fun. Just need to pass my 107 first .

old comment but this is not a camera drone, its an fpv drone with a camera. you would be better walking around a house holding your phone up for a virtual tour etc. this is a fun drone not so much a tool drone unless you want to see on your roof or up a coon infested attic or something.

@@vindogg80 Yes, goggle padding came off before I started to use it. Buy a nice multi-protocol support radio, practice with FPV simulator. Once comfortable, buy a good quality goggle and an FPV drone. This is much more economical route if you seriously want to be in FPV hobby.

Hey captain, I was so excited with this video that you convince me to buy one of this drone jajaja, I am a DJI drone user but definitely I really wanna taste the adrenaline of FPV world. So, I bought one of this, I just got it and it's totally different now, the control is completely different, now you can connected to a computer to use it with a simulator, the batteries you can recharged it now. I think this video deserves an update to see how it goes. I had to buy the batteries so I have to wait a little longer to start flying in this new world. Awesome review! Looks like the best kit available. You did a review of the Emax EZ Pilot December of 2019. Also a great kit but that one is truly for a beginner. No doubt about it this starter kit has quality gear and the price reflects that. That transmitter even looks like a smaller version of DJI's digital transmitter! The 4k camera has that fisheye effect, but I think it's a good tradeoff for a drone with such a small form factor. In this video you said the transmitter can store up to 3 different drones in its memory. Do you know which receivers it will bind to? Another great review as always and I look forward to your review of DJI's FPV "starter kit" lol.

Yes, there is a micro SD Card slot. I used a 32 gig Sandisk card in mind. Yes, the same camera records the video and sends it back to the goggles.

Okk so after 3 weeks of having ordered it i finally have my first fpv, super fun to learn and so diff from dji a real new challenge! I really like this review as you are always so thorough but i must say that i am disappointed to find out that i didn't have 4 batteries coming out with my order... thank god i had ordered an extra 3 on top of the package... The drone is awesome and easy to use which is great for a first fpv experience but its the people at geprc that are not eas. i processed my order on 6 th of jan i had i wait 2 weeks to only find i had to pay more for my shipping and that is after mailing them twice in between had i not done so not sure they would have reached out. It did take about 6 mails and about 3 weeks before my order was processed, and still with not 4 batteries, gr8 drone, logistics and sales service need to be rethought, quite disappointed though... I had to pay extra transport for the extra batteries they were in the drone bag but the 4 batteries are not there all in all my order costed me 397 usd plus tax and still they screwed it up i have written to them and i really hope they will act out of their own pocket..

Got mine a few weeks ago just started getting a handle on it and my son asked to fly it and when he hooked up the battery it started to smoke a little. Controller was on first. You'd have to ask GEPRC that question since they are the only ones who sell it. When a drone or battery smokes upon connection it means there is a short (i.e., something is damp or something is touching). In my experience with first time pilots to FPV, it's usually always the battery leads to the drone that are the short issue due to the way people connect and disconnect the batteries.

@@Alex-uo5xp When it comes to FPV starter kits I tell everyone the same thing. They are all good, however, there is a good chance you are going to destroy the drone learning to fly FPV. For that reason, if you have zero experience and you believe you may have poor hand/eye coordination, then go for any of the Tiny Whoop (very small) size Ready To Fly kits vice the larger drone sizes. Small drones tend to last long when crashed often. Also, if you currently fly GPS camera drones from any company (hubsan, fimi, DJI, Autel) then you'll have an even harder time learning to fly FPV as unfortunately GPS camera drones slow your hand/eye coordination down.

ANSWERS: 1. This drone is larger in size 2. For indoors fly it in ANGLE MODE for stability and set the forward camera to horizontal 3. I don't know if it is compatible with simulator (did not see it in the specs) 4. Joysticks are what you'd expect for a beginner kit 5. No protection other than the body and prop guards 6. I have never used GEPRC after sales service or support

Awesome review... I have a question though as far as getting into FPV and control set up. I have a Mini now and for whatever reason I had to switch to the “mode 3” in order for my brain to be able to be tell my fingers what to do with the controls. All the FPV controllers that I see have the left stick down like it is always set for the altitude. Is it possible to fly FPV in “Mode 3”? I really wan to get into FPV, but if I cant fly the same control settings as my mini, I would be best to give it a pass. I am looking for other kits like this to get started now because of the changes happening in the States. I was really excited about the DJI FPV kit, but I really want to stay under the 250 grams limit... I really don’t want to have to register the drone or broadcast where I am when I am flying. Aside from the “government list” thingy....

@@Pyro1776 that's why we fpv hobbyists use a simulator on a PC. We can then crash hundreds of times and our brain will eventually get it. A hobby style transmitter with a multi protocol such as the radiomaster t16s can be adjusted as can other hobby grade transmitters but this one it seems only available in mode 1 and 2.

Contact lenses are best for most, but if you only wear glasses they must be small rimmed. There are lots of goggles on the market that you could fit over small rimmed glasses.

Mode 1 means throttle on the right stick. Mode 2 throttle on the left. Mode 2 is the standard.

Sounds like newer product than what I've shown here, so I'd suggest check the MOTORS to see if they are different as well as the VTX system (does one have a micro SD option and the other does not?)

Ive found it out.. Soo the racing version doesn’t have on board recording and the only way to record is trough goggles. The reason I asked is because I broke the drones VTX and i want to replace the drone only and there seemed to be a big difference in price.. I guess i should just go with the $250 one…

Great review as always Steve. This may end up being my first FPV. I also already have Fatshark goggles that I use with my DJI P4P. What receiver do you recommend to use with the Fatsharks if I want to use them with this kit like you did? Also, what brand weather station is that? Love the display? Your FATSHARKs would automatically work with this drone (as long as you have the module in them... any module for 5.8 ghz compatible with your fatsharks will do). That, I don't know. The TINYHAWK 2 has an FRSKY XM+ D8 compatible receiver in it, so you need a radio that can bind (handshake) with that receiver.

Is there such thing as a wifi repeater with external antenna (to the house)? I would really like to fly this outdoors from my living room, on cold days.

Yes, wifi repeaters do indeed exist for the video signal.

Planning to buy an fpv drone! Is it better to start with this model or is it alright to go direct to the dji avata. And if so are there any differences (besides the price) between the two and are there better options to get other than these two?

If you fly beginner GPS Camera Drones, such as the DJI Mini or DJI Mavic or DJI Phantom (all designed for beginners to fly with no experience), then you won't have the skills to fly an FPV drone or have the knowledge to understand how transmitters and receivers work or how to setup a model in a radio or use Betaflight Configurator software. I'm not saying you can't learn it, because we all learned it (I began as a DJI GPS Beginner drone pilot). Over the years I have found that pilots that come from the DJI world have difficulty learning the FPV Hobby and just give up, so with that in mind you are better to stick with DJI and get the AVATA or AVATA 2 because it has the Beginner NORMAL & SPORT modes and pretty much flies itself. If you can teach yourself how to fly the AVATA or AVATA 2 in MANUAL mode, then you are ready for a true FPV Drone. All you'd need to learn is how RECEIVERS and TRANSMITTERS work & how to program a radio. Another benefit of buying the AVATA is that you then own the DJI GOGGLES 2 and can use them with future DJI FPV 03 or 04 drones. The last thing I'll say is that if you'd rather just jump into a true FPV Drone, then practice on a simulator, watch videos on BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR, watch videos on ELRS Receivers, watch videos on how to SETUP a MODEL in a RADIO, and finally, watch videos on HOW TO CHARGE BATTERIES with an RC Hobby Charger. Plenty to learn, but so rewarding in the end.

First off all i want to say your videos are just awsome, entertaining and informative, i like them allot. my question: Do you still recommend this kit as a first time fpv kit? although i don't like that the transmitter can't be used for a flightsim. i was considering the Jumper t-lite as a transmitter and some non-box type goggles, but that all together runs up the price by probally too much for a first time fpv (only have flown some planes and a dji mini2 atm, so those don't count)

For beginner kits this one is good. Another good kit is the one from iFlight that I mentioned in my A75/IF8 video.

Great review my friend. Thank you. I’m teaching a four and seven months old! In his own words lol to fly. Any ideas on a kid’s drone with all features? Headless,auto take off land. Return to home. For kids drones it is best to stick with non-camera drones from Walmart

I have the PROPEL three bladed micro from Walmart and love the altitude hold. But no prop guards.those are the two main things I’m looking for. Hey once again my friend.
