Over the past year I taught myself how to fly RC Planes using my Drone Pilot skills. This plane from Hangar 9 called the PT-19 is my very first Wooden Plane. In this video I take it for the maiden Flight.
The PT-19 is made by HANGAR 9. You can find it at the links below:

the Cox P-19 plastic plane (rubber bands held wings on) was the most popular novice plane of the late 60's... and most any larger PT-19 has the same qualities. You need to build a nitro balsa plane , enjoy the trip, and then take that baby out for the maiden, like we have done over the years (late 60's to 90's). That, friend is the 'real McCoy' of an experience...and oh, make sure to throw in plenty of windex and paper towels, and don't forget the nitro flight box with starter and battery. The thrill/angst of the maiden when you actually build it from a kit(or scratch as we did) is exponetial. Ain't nuthin like tha smell of burnt nitro first thing in the morning at the flight line (it was addicting)

Glad you didn't crash it! Walk of shame to a balsa crash is torture as the closer you get, the more carnage is apparent. Really painful when you built it from scratch with hours and hours invested in something that turned into a pile of toothpicks in seconds.

Hi Steve, heard on the news about wildfires in Canada, hope all is well where you are and that the fires are now under control. Great plane. 👍✈️ balsa wood, not used that since I was at school in the 70s 😁the plane is so quiet and moves like a glider due to the light balsa wood. Don’t crash it Steve as am sure a bad crash would turn it into a heap of matches and toothpicks 😂

The PT-19 is a beautiful airplane.. The best one is the old design by Chuck Hollinger and published in 1955. Then it was kitted by JETCO and SIG. Real balsa building with a beautiful nitro glow engine. No electrics with that stupid sound. This Hollinger balsa version is still being built by real modellers worldwide.

Nice review, other than the weight were there any dislikes? I own the Hanger 9 P-47 fun scale balsa and had to reglue the engine box that holds the engine due to deboned/ insufficient glue in that area caused a non powered land that luckily caused no damage and was easy to repair. Enjoyed watching Steve.

Since I fly FPV drones, it makes it simple to fly RC planes. I did also get the Spektrum Real Flight simulate to fly indoors on rainy days. I made a video last year about the best LARGE RC planes. In that video I explained how simple it is to fly RC planes while I was flying.

@@JMTerry1984 This falls into my category of relaxed scale flying. I'm more an adreneline flyer so i need speed and touchy controls, but this is more on the relaxed "look good" side. Most warbirds are very relaxed flyers, especially Mustangs. This one is not designed to flick around in the air, but more gental roles and loops.
