In the original game, before you head to the castle you're attacked by a truck which you have to shoot down. In the remake, you can find the truck, unusable, just outside the castle gate. Neat little egg.

I still believe his name is Hewie, RE4 took place after Haunting Ground, which is why he's totally on board with attacking giant mutants to defend a person. And for those who dont know, there is a theory that the dog in Haunting Ground and the dog in RE4 are the same dog, and while there is no perfect evidence, its the same dog model and both games were made by capcom, both take place out in the european countryside. In the original game, there’s a cutscene in Salazar’s castle where Leon shoots a listening horn that Ramon is using as a “f*ck you” and hurt his ears. In the remake, if you shoot a horn in the castle while Ramon is talking, it stops his dialogue and he laughs. Neat detail

There's a ton of references and easter eggs in RE4R. One of my favorites and one that I thought should have been mentioned during the egg section is that Salazar is actually allergic to eggs, and if you throw a golden egg at him during the boss fight it does 70 percent of his health, meaning two golden eggs can kill him.

At the beginning, Capcom trolls you. You see a dog stuck in a bear trap but its dead. But later on, you hear a dog get trapped and you can save it. Capcom did a lot of this type of stuff in the game. Like where you find Luis. You hear banging, just like in the original. But it turns out its one of the Ganados hammering shut a floor door and Luis is in a bag under that. They throw you a lot of curve balls at you making the game very familiar but shaking things up at the same time. This truly is a perfect remake

The only game that really grew popularity later on was RE3. But RE4 however, it seems every gamer remembers that as being one of their first ps2 games or a fond memory of it being on gamecube and wii. They knew that everyone had big expectations. Everyone had big expectations for RE3 Remake tho cuz of how great the RE2 Remake was.

Some details I noticed in my playthrough: - Ashley becomes more confident as the game progresses. At the beginning she's scared and nervous. When you have her unlock doors from the other side she's hesitant and unsure. By the end of the game she assures Leon that she's "a master of unlocking" and is a lot more willing to help. At times she will also taunt enemies. - Ashley or Luis will cheer you on if they're with you at the shooting range. - Slight spoilers for this one: After Saddler takes Ashley, Leon's veins stay dark instead of going back to normal, despite the fact that he's no longer being controlled by Saddler. They're visible from that point on until the parasite is removed. Update: Some more details I noticed: - The many idle animations that Leon has. Some include him grabbing his right shoulder after shooting repeatedly, spitting blood, shaking his head and clutching his chest as though the parasite is bothering him, and running a hand back through his hair. - This detail unfortunately isn’t in the main game, but it was discovered by a modder. Leon and Ashley have unique dialogue when you change their outfits during gameplay. - The crows drink water when they’re near puddles.

One detail I noticed was when you play as Ashley, I'm certain her dialogue changes if you skipped the first part of her section by setting Grandfather Clock to correct time when you first come across it. Normally when waiting for the elevator, she’ll say something like "C'mon, c'mon" because she knows there are Knights after her. However, if you do the skip, this will be the first time she'll come across the knights in her section so she'll instead ask "What was that?" when she hears something coming down the stairs. (unless the dialogue is actually randomised)

The bolt thrower is a great weapon to save ammo, and is completely silent. It will not trigger garradores, specially when you encounter 2 of them and multiple enemies. It will not scare Crows. And a cool detail: if you shoot a crossbow enemy at the same time he shoots, bolts can impact mid-air and your bolt will fall on the ground at the same place they hit.

It’s also straight up ass cheeks, the bolts take 3 Inv spaces instead of normal ammo of 2. Also it take knife to make bolts which is ass because now it requires 2 resources to make a shit tier weapon. 3/10 at least it’s somewhat useable.

@@alfredorodriguez2279 if you're careful with your shots you never need to make more bolts though, unless you're using them for the mines. It's very good for conserving ammo against weaker enemies, one headshot usually stuns them and then one or two more shots after the melee to finish them off

A detail that should be mention is the watch tower at the beginning of the game before the church bell rings. That watch tower was used a lot for the original game where speed runners would stay up there indefinitely until the event timed out so they don't have to use a lot of resources. In the REmake... The floor boards gave way for Leon to drop down instead of hiding up there.

Actually, you can still stay up there as long as you don't go pass further from the ladder. Once you climb the ladder just stay where you are at and don't retrieve the health. You can then proceed to shoot enemies off the ladder and throw a grenade down there once they piled up. The only catch is that you can't knock the chainsaw guy off even when shooting him in the head. He will always make it up to the top forcing you to jump down or fall from the watch tower. You can jump down and climb the ladder again though but it's much harder to defend forcing you to abandoning it, this is probably a reason why speed runners don't use this tactic. However, if you're trying to achieve S+ rank on professional, the tactic is still valuable until the chainsaw guy shows up on top because by then you would have killed at least 10 enemies to make the church bell ring.

The dog that you can find in a trap was actually relocated, you normally find it much earlier, before the village i think. Instead of it being there, though, a dead dog is found there, one which leon will remark about it being a poor pooch. Couple of things. The title screen after beating the game is a replica to how the title screen in the OG looks after beating it. Also, Leon's line after beating the El Gigante could be a very subtle reference to the whole Jill sandwich thing. "I was almost a pancake". Then there's the trophy/achievement names that are all full of references as well. My personal favorite being the one you earn when you defeat Saladbar, I mean Salazar. "No Thanks, Bro"

I found one! There is a house near the lake with a chemistry set on display. If you use the high power scope to look at a picture frames on the fireplace mantle, you will see one picture is a bunch of dolls. This of course is a Easter egg to how the creators originally wanted to add creepy dolls to a Resident Evil game but idea was scrapped till it was later used in Resident Evil village. I don’t know it you knew this but at the start of the game ,when you make you’re way through to the village, if you kills the ganados that ambush you then Leon will enter through the gate normally but if you leave them be then Leon’s animation will change into him trying to frantically open the gate to escape the ganados. Side note in the valley. In the house where the first aid spray is (on the left as you drop down). You can hide in there enter via the window. Any mobs that come near may we hit with dynamite. If they attempt to climb the window poke them with your knife. Results may vary as sometimes it wont stun them. THIS WILL ONLY TAKE OUT SOME OF THEM NOT ALL BTW. Another hidden details about the Ganados in the closet is, if you finish the area and come back, he's still there waiting. I didn't go into the room until I got the small key and he burst out of it as if he was still at the beginning. And you can fight two Dr. Salvadors if you take out the first one before going into the house.

Two Dr Salvatore in village was same in RE4, the first one was in the top left of the map towards the lake which did not require 5 kills / 2 minutes to spawn. Once you go into the house with the Shotgun the second one appears from the cutscene.

The dog is supposed to be reference to Capcom's other horror game that use the same engine, Haunting Ground. The dog was a pivotal part of the game, by making a dog that seemingly close to it died in the bear trap before the village, it's as if Capcom trying to tell us that Haunting Ground is dead, but they'll keep the iconic dog for Resident Evil.

Best tip. Don't sell the golden eggs. There are 2. One is a task from the merchant after the lake fight in the village. The other comes in the castle after you make your way back to the throne room. Equip the eggs before fighting Salazar. Throw both golden eggs at him and he will die instantly. You are welcome.

The man hiding in the closet might be also a reference to Oven Man (Which is one of the Ganados in the Oven on the Prison Island) since he attacks you soon after you get close (The man in the Oven doesn't do that anymore since you can get away from him in time). I also believe the devs put him there to blow your cover since you can get free items before starting the fight. The sitting on the thorn got me laughing too because the chickens! The Title Screen changes after completing Leon's Campaign it also did the same thing during the old game too since you see Leon, and Ashley running from the town to now the screen doing a 360 view of the town itself. (Edit to make the text a little cleaner I am not writer but I did 100% this game 5 different times twice in the old Gamecube, Once during the new PC Remake, and Two more times on VR)

Another little thing you missed, I think you'll really get a kick out of. You can cheese the Salazar fight... by throwing 2 eggs at his face. I was really egg-cited 😏 when I found out about this since it can make the S+ speedrun all the more less painful, especially when you already used the rocket launcher on the verdugo like i did.

Some missing / wrong info: You can end first village fight 3 ways - 1. Wait out certain amount of time. 2. shoot bell 3. Kill enough enemies. Killing enough enemies will end fight faster and that works in original and remake versions of game and its strat used by speedrunners. And no, you can not trigger bell with pistol no matter how long you shoot it. You can trigger bell only with rifle or bazooka. Which means you can trigger bell only on new game+

The change in the starting menu is probably to reflect the same change in OG. Also the flaming guy freaked me out. I ALWAYS know he's in that chapter, if it's the OG or the remake, but I didn't know he'd be THERE. But I think the best Easter Eggs are that the names of some challenges are reference to lines from the OG. Examples being "Talk about near death experience" "No thanks, bro"

Regenerators are way more menancing now than before, fortunately there are new ways to deal with them. The bioscensor scope is a great way to finding the plaga that rest inside, soeaking of resting inside, you can use this to find regeneradores inside body bags, this works in both freezer sections, one where you first meet them, and after the helicopter fight. After the helicopter fight, the section with regeneradores can be tricky without means to find hidden plaga, but you can adopt 2 strats: 1 avoid touching any moving bag, you can carefully crouch beneath them or just move around them. 2 knife them...seriously, if you poke through the body, you can get lucky and hit plaga that eventually becomes exposed, you will take damage, but they drop gems as reward. And in the garbage processing section, where it is dark and you have Ashley to protect, for the love of good, bring the rifle with the scope. When you rerouted the power several ganado soldiers will approach, but you can snipe them easily, but the real threat is the regenerador that becomes iron maiden right after. After dealing with that wave of ganado, turn left and aim, you can take pot shots to the resting regenerador before it becomes active.

A request that requires you to deface a Salazar painting could be a hint for his boss fight. Throwing a golden egg at a exposed Salazar can do a lot of damage. And while he’s down, a second golden egg can instantly finish the fight. I’m not sure if the other eggs do damage.

I don’t think the village is strictly on a timer. I played through on a 2nd run and sped through this part by blowing everyone up with the infinite launcher. Spent maybe 90 secs during this part. I think if you kill enough of them, it will trigger the cutscene

There's different timers based on what the player does. According to gamesradar: no kills, not entering the house is ~ 4 minutes; constant kills, not entering the house is ~ 2.5 minutes; constant kills, entering the house is ~ 5 minutes

I believe you need to kill 15 ganados to trigger it, I was playing new game ++ with the infinite magnum and won very quickly- also after ten kills the chainsaw guy spawns in regardless of entering the house or not.
