Boeing 707 first look REVIEW - We already know how it ends... Microsoft Flight Simulator

It is promising, it will get fixed and improved over time since it has great potential. For an old retired airline pilot like me who flew all those vintage aircraft it warms my heart to see them again in the simulator as imperfect as they are. As far as the autopilot is concerned we almost exclusively used the autopilot during cruise when we flew it. And then only using altitude hold and heading hold. The nav tracking mode was too aggressive and made it uncomfortable for the passengers. Except for cruise we always flew manually. If you’re looking for all the modern technology and automation, that aircraft is not for you but if you love flying then you’ll enjoy it as much as I do. And things will get fixed over time. Just my positive two cents worth.

The 3d model looks like garbage though, looks like a freeware airplane from Flight Gear.

If those engine cowlings were properly modeled, accurate engine sounds added, cabin window shapes corrected and proper wing flex rendered when on the ground, I would buy it. Even if the flight dynamics were poor, it would be visually beautiful. Hopefully those failings will be addressed and then it will be a nice vintage airliner. Doesn't have to have PMDG quality textures. For €25 or thereabouts then it would be very good value imho.

Having hung around Manchester airport as a kid in the seventies I can confirm this sounds nothing like the real thing. There were some great sound packs for the 707 in FSX, I wonder if some can be made to work in MSFS? But don't give up hope Captain, one of these days someone will release a quality historic jet 🤞

To be fair, the 707 test pilot did a barrel roll in the aircraft during its unveiling and showing to potential customers. It's a pretty infamous story and there's also video footage of it too. Not saying the flight model is accurate, just saying you could absolutely do barrel rolls in the 707 without consequence haha

I saw the video, but it still feels unrealistic in all manoeuvres. I don't say I'm right. It's just a feeling.

@@CaptainKenobi from your video I would say your feelings are correct. It pulls off aerobatics much too freely and just doesn't fly like an airliner. Even compared to some smaller aircraft but better modeled flight models such as the PMDG 737, it feels a ton lighter and more maneuverable than that aircraft.

Basic, you have an autopilot switch, you can adjust heading, altitude, catch localizer, etc (edit : my bad, didn't saw the replies)

You can do loops in a 707, this isn't a surprise bc the 707 could do barrel rolls, they literally did it on test flight , so what are u wanting lol

The barrel roll is not the problem. The problem is that it has barely any impact on the aerodynamics.

This plane I already have it’s got so many serious bad problems it isn’t finished it needs a fix and a update I will not fly it till it gets a fix and update it’s a nice aircraft but come on there are problems with it

There are a lot of videos on YT, definitely not accurate. Would be funny to have vacuum cleaners with 76Kn of thrust.
