Cap’n I hate that you have to leave it hanging right there… that stubborn screw through the shifter cover may have been the only thing holding the whole truck together!!! While you were carefully dissecting that wiring harness it struck me… who was the genius that decided to make all black DC wires ground and all black AC wires Hot? Surely a shade tree mechanic with ample access to the unfiltered shop lights provided by leaf fall has pondered out simple puzzles like that??? PS… save some of the floor board… it matches the one in the Triple Nickel!

One year wonder '87 carbureted 460 has a _very_ different harness than the diesel. You're going to want the *complete* harness (from headlight to headlight) and the '87 cluster. Youll need the engine perches that attach to the rear face of the engine crossmember too. The radiator support for the diesel has a drop center and can bring big $ if its not completely rotted out. (recoup some funds)

@@CaptainKleeman Heater core is not directional, hoses don't matter but one thing you want to look out for is that the HVAC controls run off engine vacuum while the diesel used a pump. Those colored plastic lines are very brittle and the vacuum motor below the passenger hood hinge (recirc door) is know to snap like a toothpick. If you have broken lines you will only get defrost, no heat to the panel or floor. Disc brake Superduty rears used a cable actuated parking brake attached to the back of a 4x4 transmission. Since your '87 drivetrain is 4x2 you'll need to figure out whether to swap the tranny or find a drum rear with the narrower spring perches for a C&C frame.
@jimurrata67858 ай бұрын
That thing tied to the heater hose is what's left of the choke heater cap on the carburetor. It should attach to the Stator (B/W) wire coming from the alternator output.

Hi Mike. I've done a few engine swaps/replacements and have a suggestion. Try to preserve as many fasteners and plastic holder together bits as you can. You will be surprised at how you always seem to come up short on them when putting it all back together. There are tools to remove the plastic fasteners without breaking them and they are pretty cheap to buy. I know you can get aftermarket fasteners, but they are of a lesser quality than the factory ones. Thanks for the video!
