Cap’n, I read a book to my daughters when they were in grade school titled “Oh The Things We’ll Do”. It showed all the places they will go, the people they’ll meet and the jobs they could do. If I’d had your channel back then, I wouldn’t have to read… just poke the play button. You have more adventures than any writer ever put into a child’s head. Definitely a win win project. Got lots of limestone for free, helped clean up a lot for a customer, and got paid for the demo/clean up! Best part is the 555 was a champ, despite the occasional no start and flat tire issues. Also put the quick attach to the test with the forks and buckets! 👍👍💪💪

This project reminded me of my Wisconsin childhood (60's - 70's). I helped my dad remove a bricked extension (old chicken coop?) attached to our garage that was falling apart (my childhood home was built in the early 40's or so). Spending all day chipping the mortar off of the bricks. We saved everything we could. Looking forward to many more videos from you.

I think this was a great project. You saved tons of Indiana limestone from being buried in that basement and seen to fruits of your labor on the 555 backhoe was indeed a positive experience. You saved one thing from being lawn art to something you can use for art around the pond and other areas on the homestead.

After watching the entire project, I have to say that I am very impressed with this project, and how hard you worked on it. To tackle this project by yourself just amazed me! The 555 is worth it's weight in gold! I am so thankful to C&C Equipment for finding it for you, and for all of your labor on getting it running like a champ. (And also a few bucks from your pocket.) My eldest went to college in Galesburg, IL. The buildings and pathways on campus were built using brick from a local brickyard (went out of business years ago), and some were marked as "GALESBURG" while others had the company name. We salvaged a few of those because that made them worth scavenging. Common bricks with no distinguishing features, not so much. Were there any foundry markings on the old coal chute door? That might have made that worth keeping, aside from the fact that coal chute doors are also from a bygone era even without markings.
