I remember cleaning the mud out of the tracks of a D9 everyday during the winter so it wouldn't freeze. I was a 13 and used a spud bar. Man! that spud bar was heavy and the mud was thick, but, that was the price I paid to be taught how to run the dozer. Oh, and it had a hand crank start pony motor on it to start the diesel.. Fun times!!!

I have learned two tricks to that specific nozzle on your fuel can. 1) Install nozzle with the red "trigger" facing down so that you can depress it against the fuel fill tube 2) the trigger has a detent that requires you to squeeze the trigger towards the nozzle before it can be pushed in and release fuel. I was squeezing it *while* pushing it down, but you can give it a quick squeeze before lifting the can into pouring position and that will unlock the trigger.

Though I really enjoy watching the amazing Minotaur, I’d really like to see how things are coming on your 555. I’m sorta living vicariously through you while you resurrect it. You’ve really inspired me. I didn’t think I could ever afford to have a big boy toy to play in the dirt with. All I’ve got is a old John Deere tractor and a box scrape that I’ve patched back together. But now, I’m looking for something like your backhoe that I can fix up. I think the fact you aren't a full-time operator makes your opinion just as valid as a full-time operator. You don't have any preconceived notions about how something should work. It demonstrates how well thought out the controls are if it is easy for you to hop in it and run it with a quick these are what the buttons do talk. DP can over the specs and technical stuff while you can just give a how easy it was to use and how well you thought it did.

I must conclude that people in your area are more courteous than people around here. That looks like a well thought-out piece of equipment, plenty of muscle to handle fairly large jobs without needing to haul 2 or 3 pieces of equipment to a jobsite. Most times, a piece of equipment designed to do multiple things isn't as good at any of them as a dedicated piece of equipment, this one seems to buck that trend.
