The coping saw is a genius idea! I am thinking about making a vertical version of this for cutting slabs into logs so they can be cut into bars.

What no. Stirng should we use for soap cutter?

I used stainless steel fishing leader. It is strong, easy to clean and has a small diameter.

Is your measurements in milliliter

No, As crazy as it sounds, I use inches for measuring and metric for weighing liquids.

why not just move the small piece of wood forward so the soap is past the end and you can cut it without making cuts in your wood?

Hi Nancy, thanks for the comment. I actually thought of that, but I would have had to drill a set of holes all the way down the inside of the cutter and re-position the little block each time. For me, it was easier to just move the soap. Good suggestion thought!
