How do you replace the RCA jacks on the amp itself, can you do a video on that
@ellensburgamplifier Жыл бұрын
To change the RCA jack all you do is remove the board from the heatsink and there are typically 3 solder points on the bottom that once unsoldered the RCA jack should fall right out. I can try to add that to the list of videos but it is something that I do not do often.

I have a Autotek Meanmachine 1500.1d (2012), its before Maxxsonics took AT in a different direction. It's the Exact same board. And I've had the amp 10yrs...pushing hard. It ran cool all day, 4h road trips, pushing hard. I'm glad I seen this video, because that Super Class D board is what caused mine to go into protection for the first time. I stripped it, and cleaned the board....there was heat traces on the p2d chips at the top of that component you pulled. It runs hot now, but hasn't gone into protection again. Impossible to get ahold of that component, so I guess new amp when it fails completely. Is this a component that will draw more amps from my alt if not replaced? Thanks....great video

You most likely will need to replace all of the power supply transistors and I would also check the gate resistors to make sure they are within spec. If you show any low resistance values between gate and source then you have to keep digging for the short.

First, I determine if the gate-source resistance values are correct at the output transistors. What is the resistance for - the low side gate for both sides and the high side gates for both sides. We are comparing the two halves of the amplifier. (parallel banks of 5 high and 5 low)

Hello and thank you for the support. I do not know what the clipping output is as I don't dyno amplifiers. You would have to have one put on a dyno to know or you can base it somewhat off of the available rail voltage.
@E-raticWarrior Жыл бұрын
@@ellensburgamplifier Is it similar to using a DMM to set the amplifier gain but would have to use a process of elimination. Because a company can print on the amplifier that it's 1100 watts *cough boss audio* but it has a 25 amp fuse and when running a 50Hz sinewave through the max voltage at the output is 31 volts which would calculate to, with a 4 ohm load
@ellensburgamplifier Жыл бұрын
@@E-raticWarrior I feel the end user should always know what the rail voltage is to properly set an amp up. There are so many variables when it comes to output wattage that it is hard to calculate what an amplifier will do. What I do is log the rail voltage at the rectifiers with an input voltage of 12,13,14, and 15 volts (sorry guys I do not support the use of 16 volts, especially with 1:11 transformers) and then figure roughly a 20% loss through the output stage to give a rough idea of the potential clipping voltage. A scope is always the best in my opinion as you can see the sign wave.
@E-raticWarrior Жыл бұрын
@@ellensburgamplifier I just recently found out about plus and minus voltage rails and the fact there's negative voltage, which blew my mind. To be honest the end user wouldn't know what to do with such information without having considerably knowledge about how an amplifier works and because of that they can't sell that end user an amplifier with 5000 Watts printed on it with a 10 or 20 amp because that end user would immediately know that's BS!
