Automotive Engineer David Chao provides 3 likes and 3 dislikes of this highly sought-after car-based truck, the Ford Maverick. Dressed in the Tremor version, the Maverick has surprised even the most skeptics, as it continues to outsell other utility vehicles. And also, would Toyota bring out a car-based truck to compete with the Maverick? These are some of the interesting topics David talk about in this full review video about the Maverick Tremor.

Thankyou, your thoughts and opinions on vehicles are always top notch and much appreciated. Making them in Mexico where labor costs are tremendously lower and selling the Maverick for 20-25k ish made perfect sense. To still make them in Mexico and steadily/annually raise the price? Doesn't make sense and seems like just straight up greed. Have the inflation of prices for everything in the states coincided with yearly pay raises compensating the Mexican labor force building these vehicles? I wonder? I'd buy one if they offered a small cab 6' bed option for solo drivers. I'll never need rear seating and a long bed would be of much more use. It would be similar to appartment complexes only offering 3 and 4 bedroom units. Single people/drivers are still here. Thanks again. I always look forward to your content.

Thank you David, for explaining some of the benefits and drawbacks of body on frame versus unibody.

The review sold me! Everything this man had said are FACTS! I plan on following through with my order of a 2024 Ford Maverick Tremor.. most especially, since it was an chinamen that reviewed this truck. He says, “it so awesome; I buy”.

I’m wondering that in retrospect, Honda should’ve based the Ridgeline on a CRV rather than a Pilot/Odyssey? You certainly can’t argue with the success of the Maverick. Ridgeline turned out to be as or more expensive than your typical mid-size pickup, not as capable while getting as poor or worse fuel economy. Not to mention the first iteration was butt-ugly. Imagine a CRV-based Ridgeline which would have been cheaper with excellent fuel economy and at least as capable as the current Maverick. Maybe the world wasn’t ready for a compact pickup when the Ridgeline was introduced but i’m thinking it would have done well, especially if Honda had sweated the details like Ford did with the Maverick.

Thanks for the overview but personally I can’t get past the lower seating position that you like. I’ve come to appreciate the visibility that the higher point of view allows me when driving. I don’t really “need” more truck but I do “want” at least a little more from one. A contrast between this and the Honda Redgeline would be welcomed. Even with it’s limitations I think it would be a better choice unless you’re guided strictly by cost.

Nice review David, I was considering factory ordering a Maverick last fall , looking for the Hybrid model XLT the mid level , it was everything i needed and few add on options, pricing from Ford Canada online was ok, then when ,I enquired in person and was told i couldn't get one and that the allot for the entire 2024 model year was already taken up by customers who did not get a 2023 Hybrid, so was ok with waiting for i guess would be a 2025 model and was told i needed another $10k over MSRP, NO WAY, i was in the industry working for GM Canada at a local dealer in Winnipeg, so i know its greed, not product in demand and found a dealer who will when they are more readily available will sell it for MSRP, it is still pricey right at $44,900.00 still lots of cash , just my thoughts 👍

Good review. I was a ford guy from 1974-2016. The quality of the vehicles and many recalls was just too much. Dodge and government motors wasn’t even a consideration

Curious. Do you have any stats on how many vehicles are taken offroad? Without doing an research, I'm betting most of these owners never even consider off-roading?

I got the tremor trim just because I want the 4WD, lift, better suspension and skid plates so I don’t get stuck in winter, and a stronger build for our crappy, roads

@@lordrayden3045 I've wondered if the crappy roads were a reason that favored pickups/off-road vehicles in general. How has your purchase worked out for you?

Got to finally say it. I ordered my Maverick in November of 2021 and didn’t take delivery until March of 2023. First couple of months I was happy with the ride and feel of truck. Early May, warmer temps, I rolled down the window and at 40 mph I couldn’t hear the radio. Terrible wind noise, poor engineering and crap radio. Bed is too small for basic hauling of construction materials without hanging out the back. I finally started to take a serious look at the interior, since I was never able to test drive or even see a Maverick until it was delivered. I had a 2023 XLT trim with luxury package. The inside is like sitting in a plastic factory, cheap plastic that easily scratches. I have not seen one review that takes notice of how cheap the interior looks and feels. And Ford, please do away with the orange accents, ugly. The seats in the XLT are comfortable, but that’s about it. I’ve had great Ford cars and been very happy until this vehicle. Because they are in such high demand I traded it in for another Ford vehicle. Just wanted to give a different perspective from someone who owned one.

I like them all but the truck here is over $50,000 Canadian. Since Ford has raised the price over $8000 on a base model since they were new in 2022 the Maverick is no longer appealing.

It's not a custom hand made truck. It's a production vehicle! Every little body line is not going to be straight or align perfect. I have seen luxury cars costing over 100k that have body line flaws. What in the world are you show casing the hood or fender creases like it's a flaw or something wrong?? You got to be kidding me.

I would always worry about Ford's terrible quality, hoping Toyota brings out the Stout. The Mazda BT-50 would be a great option for the USA too. Let's hope...
