I want to get into mechanics, but I lack the tools and spare car, so these videos are absolutely helpful. There’s a lot of new information to me, so I’ll be revisiting this video!

Great that you said to not use a ratchet when putting in plugs. One trick I find useful is to turn the bolt backwards until you feel the thread ends meet.

Excellent tutorial and presentation. It's unfortunate that much of the detailed important instructions on servicing the fuel filter are lost due to sloppy and obstructed camera angle shots, however. For instructional videos, the video production team should take the time and with the help of a mirror, two cameras or unobstructed work-bench views to rehearse, show and capture the critical points and images on the proper technique covered when disconnecting and replacing the fuel filter.

Dan I do enjoy your segments and I know it must be difficult to talk to a camera while you are working, and I thank you for them. I know I am being picky, but, you had the fuel running out of the back of the fuel filter all over the chassis and engine. Should you also have taken the precaution of placing a shop rag over the filter while you loosened the banjo bolt, in case of residual line pressure.? Shouldn't you also have shaken the contents of the old filter into a white plastic container to check for the fuel pump condition etc?

How is that 20,000 volts its running on a 12v battery or a 14v alternator???
@brettknoss4869 жыл бұрын
The coil ups the volts at the expense of amps. Sort of like how an overdrive make the wheels turn faster at the expense of torque.

+i am Viking because as he said, they're really special bolts lol
@Baerchenization8 жыл бұрын
I know that e.g. the bolts for my ignition coil packs are special in that they kinda stretch a little; so once used, they are pre-stretched and you cannot use them a second time. So these are not your ordinary Walmart bolts, 100 pieces a dollar...

"Your car uses about 14 times as much air as it does fuel. If your air filter is plugged your car will use more fuel than it does air." No. If your engine is getting more fuel than air it isn't going to run. At all. I know what you meant to say, but it isn't what you said. It wouldn't be a big deal, but people come here to learn, then many will repeat this nonsense verbatim. This is how stupidity spreads. We have an epidemic of nonsense in this country.

I would of just took my god damn air compressor to that air filter and blown that dust and dirt out.
@walt46708 жыл бұрын
+Norfolk Southern Lehigh Valley Railfan To anyone taking that advice: You have to be REALLY careful about the pressure if you do that, it's easy to blow very tiny holes in the filter (paper or fiber-type) and consequently let a lot more dirt into the engine. If the car were newer and under warranty, go with a new filter and don't risk it, but if it's an older car, it could save you money and some manufacturers would say it's OK. Again, just be wary about damaging the filter - the damage may not be obvious.
