I'm much happier finding good used cars and doing the needed repairs on my own. You really don't have any info on the new cars and how long they will last but it exists for ones that have been out there 5 to 10 years at least. The worst part of buying new is that the depreciation is so large. So buying used seems smart, but you have to worry if the original owners took care of them or not, so there is a risk there. Great channel, thanks for the content.

Too much "technology" packed into the new vehicles. Offers little in long term benefit, creates near and far term problems, and drives the price to the moon. We need a manufacturer who will just deliver a basic, reliable vehicle. This is why you see the 2024 4runner flying off the lots - quality at a good price. You can keep the 14 inch info screens and give me real knobs and buttons.

Well stated. I would love an updated 1993 Tacoma RWD or AWD with a simple diesel and a stick. The info screen is not really expensive for car makers. Simple knobs and simple features, an actual key, hand brake (simple no electronics), designed along the lines of the old Toyota. Remember the Toyota pickup that Top Gear tried to destroy. That should be the goal. I bet a solid vehicle without chips and the potential to repair yourself would be very popular.

When my car started requiring new parts, I opted to fix myself rather than get another. My 99 Mirage cost $1,100 in 2015, it's currently at 237K miles, still going strong as my daily driver, and probably the smartest investment I've made. Even better, the value appreciated 28% since buying it in 2015. I'll drive 90s manual cars for the rest of my life.

You can get a Maverick for A LOT less than $50k, it’s still an affordable little pickup as long as you don’t check every single option box. It’s the same way with cars like the Civic, Corolla, and Sentra… you can get them over $30k where they hardly make sense but they’re available for a lot less.

I agree with this man's opinion. These car manufacturers having been badly ripping off consumers for a few years now. They are JUNK! Plastic door hinges on FORDS, doesn't surprise me. Toyota with its garbage V6 engines in the Tundras, crappy 4-cylinder engines in the Tacomas with turbos....LOL! Garbage transmissions on the Tacomas too! I hope these trucks that these dealers are sitting on in their lots will turn to biodegradable planters! No government bail-outs either! You shall reap what you sew! KARMA-TOYOTA!

Most of these brands were not selling in 2019. Yup before Covid and just sitting in parking lotos of new high rise buildings without tenants. The pandemic created an excuse to say it was chips or inventory shortages. Same time rentals or condos were not selling. I worked on building these new high rises. Dealers took advantage of those who would buy at higher prices. Saw a used 2022 RAV4 for $50k no thank you. This market needs a correction to level out costs.

I just bought a 2015 Lexus RC and I am really happy with it, but it is a niche car as a coupe that leans more toward really nice daily driver than performance sport car. Busying new, both the LC and RC are a bit pricey for what you get, which I think is necessary for Lexus to recoup the cost on such low sales volume. Used, they are hard to come buy. I am told the people who buy them never get rid of them. I don't intend to get rid of mine.

These automotive companies need to stop having California CARB dictating how they should build their cars that don't sale. The Guardian has reported on new research showing that in one year, a single large container ship can emit cancer and asthma-causing pollutants equivalent to that of 50 million cars. California only has approximately 35.7 million registered vehicles. Now think about how many tankers and container ships deliver just to California. We have the California air Resources board ( CARB or ARB ) makes rules about how much pollutants vehicles can emit, but compared to what big ships emit is a joke. These ships have no smog test and generate no revenue for California. With forest fires, volcanos and everything else dumping tons of toxins in the air, you would think we would all be dead.

Yes, it was both sides of the aisle in Washington that allowed Globalism to take root and now it's a cancer on the entire world. Just remember, the US Navy was built to protect America, but to simply protect American interests and the globalists that keep American politicians (demons) in power. That is, if you can believe it, it protects the shipping lanes just so that China can ship huge ships to Long Beach, CA and dump all of the stuff in America. Yes, that is correct...

Not long ago 10 yrs ago car manufactures and dealers were still happy at the big 3 with making $10k per truck and slicing up that profit between the two. The average buyer felt good about getting $2500 or so off MSRP and affordable rates. No more, they are all greedy in EVERY element within the supply chain. White/Blue collar workers make WAY too much for what they contribute in the manufacturing process and dealers with their insane markups and "processing" fees. Also to dealers, we don't need popcorn and doughnuts or tripping over 4+ layers of "staff" to buy a vehicle in 2500 - 3000 sq foot sales floor space.

Witnessing the benefits of "sanctions". V. Orban of Hungary said in 2022 March that: Careful, "Sanctions are a double edged sword." Well, for the German manufacturers it was a quadruple edge, and ALL 4 edges chopped into EU/Germany's car industry - drawing rivers of blood... 1. They lost the huge used car market (Russia), so used cars are not as valuable in Germany as before, hindering trade-is. They can no longer export them to the East. Most people are/were unaware of this. BTW: BMW built a business plan on this. 2. NEW German cars are no longer exported to Russia; the Russians love(d) German cars. 3. Much higher fuel cost in the EU, therefore less driving, less wear, less new buys, and trade ins are not as valuable as before, due to the lost export market of Russia.. 4. Recession in Germany already, and deepening rapidly. Hence, no car buying by a public that is getting unemployed, or is in fear of the same. They have really screwed themselves - big time...

What cost of living crisis? The inflation rate in the US is 2.7%. The long term historic average rate is 3.3%. Only YOY in 2022 was it 6.5% (not even high, ask the Lebanese :)). Any “living crisis” people are feeling is almost solely self induced with things like paying an average monthly car payment of $737. Restaurants are filled and every Starbucks drive thru is 5 deep nearly all day. People may be hurting but most don’t seem to be cutting back. I don’t think it’s a crisis when the average Joe isn’t able to spend 80k on a truck or on a Mercedes. This seems more like reality and the way it should be. It’s no secret MB lack quality and are expensive to repair…these cars should be leased. Automakers are selling over priced, tech laden, poor quality vehicles. People are either getting wise or financial reality is setting in?
