As a long time user of the infotainment system; the rotary dial operation becomes the better experience over the touchscreen. After a while it becomes so intuitive that you can use the audio system without taking your eyes off the road. Optimal usage of 'haptic memory'

@@jetplume Definitely... my other complaint about Mazdas... hard to see out of them in the back, and its a cramp interior considering the size of the vehicle. Otherwise a nice car if you don't need it for utility or doing much more than transporting yourself and maybe a couple of people short term.

Yeah Mazdas are nice if you don't need to use them for utility or if you are a DINK (Dual Income No Kids). Once they make one with adequate interior space (including cargo area) then I'll consider one. You literally have to go up a class size ($$$$) for it to be comparable with other manufacturers at a lower level.

Same here! Ever since the first review on YT of this cx50 hybrid caught my eye about 1 month ago, I was basically waiting for precisely this review, because on paper I believe this car ticks most of my boxes for what I'm looking for! 2 things though: I've learned from a different car care nut video, that sunroofs that open are actively leaking too. Since I definitely won't be getting the base trim, I am not sure how I can avoid getting the opening roof as a package deal. The other thing is availability of this car in Europe. But I am hopeful that they will, eventually, import it. And the last thing is that added width, it looks super cool on the sides, but it adds too much extra width, which will likely cause issues where I live. 😢

@@giorginho7mobile i’ve had my CX 50 nonturbo for two years now. Everything has been solid. The only issue I’m having that I’ve tried to address with Mazda and they haven’t been able to fix it yet Is when I open the sunroof it makes a noise when I go over bumps in the road. But there’s no leakage when the sunroof is closed or opened. It’s perfectly sound and no creaks and rattles, so I’m hoping to address the creaking noise when it’s open as soon as I can

The reason this was able to be implemented the way that it was is because of the partnership between Mazda and Toyota. They have a joint venture company in Huntsville, Alabama (Mazda Toyota Manufacturing) where this model and the Toyota Corolla Cross are made. I work on the Toyota line. They've been working together on this hybrid CX-50 for a few years now trying to make sure they got everything implemented right. Another little thing about this partnership, The 2025 Corolla Cross has a new color option this year: Soul Red, a Mazda color. And it looks great in person! Love your channel! I wouldn’t say I am automative guru, but I am an enthusiastic owner. I extensively drove Opel, Renault, Toyota, VW in Europe and drove Hyundai, Toyota, VW, Mazda and Tesla in US. Hands down, the best-built car I have ever had was the Mazda. The way the doors felt, the way the car was built from the gaps to door seals, buttons, touch points etc. It was exceptional. 2014 Japan built Mazda was better than the 2021 German-built VW I had. These CX-50s are built in US, but good to see they still have exceptional quality.

I drive a 2022 CX-5 turbo. Two things AMD didn’t like were the rear wheel speed sensors and the ECVT droning and squishy response. My biggest issue with the CX-50 is the lack of headroom. I’m 6’-0” and like to drive sitting upright. I can’t do it in a CX-50, but my CX-5 has headroom to spare. I drove a friend’s new RAV4 before buying my Mazda. The cockpit was noisy, cramped, visually too busy, and overall it felt cheap. For someone shorter or more laid back when driving, this hybrid seems like an amazing improvement over the RAV4 for all the reasons he mentioned.

One mor thing. Toyota is a major share holder of Mazda. Technology transfer between these 2 OEMs is more easier & natural. Also, one of the reasons why there are so many Mazda parts in this hybrid vehicle is that it still costs a lot of money to transfer to Toyota (per car sales). The more original Mazda parts in this vehicle, the better the bottom line to Mazda. But this car is super amazing. Only this channel can convey so much valuable info to the audiences. Great job.

Mr. CCN. i have a 2024 cx5 non turbo no CD OR ISTOP. I love this car is so many ways. But i just have to comment on how well this vehicle is assembled. I could go on about inside and out. But just this comment on attention to detail is sooo impressive...u look under the hood... every connection be it electrical or mechanical, have color coded stripes, dots or some matching color coding that is like shadow boxing a tool box with your tools. One glance and you can see every hose, every part is connected to what it should be. Red, green, orange. Matches a clamp and a hose and how far that clamp should be on that hose. It is fascinating to me and I am so impressed at this type of QA system and engineering. I have owned 4runners and still have a '15 tacoma. But no way do those compare to the attention to detail that my Mazda CX5 select model displays. I love it and i think this CX50 hybrid is going to quickly be the standard to which others will be judged. Love your show and you commitment to the industry.

@ I got the Select trim because I wanted a basic vehicle with less things to repair as the vehicle got older. It has everything I want in a new vehicle, a proven Japanese engine and a non-CVT transmission.

since 1992 I've owned (also currently own) 9 mazdas, with all previous (6) achieving over 250k miles. my current 3 (2002 tribute, 2018 6, & 2020 CX5) are at 187k, 55k, and 105k miles. kinda funny to think that my mazda ownership is approaching 2 million miles of driving.... great vehicles.......

I ordered one of these last week. I wanted something reliable, good fuel economy, and a nice cabin. A proven engine and hybrid combined with a model that's been in production for a few years seemed like a safe bet. I drove one, and it was nice. Not quick, and that eCVT drone was a thing, but overall pretty good - a reasonable trade-off for something that's going to be cheap to operate for years. BTW, it looks like it might be possible to 3D print covers for those rear speed sensors, maybe in something flexible like TPU.

Thank you for providing a concise video of the collaboration between MAZDA and TOYOTA...the BEST of BOTH companies. I had a HR-V, I got used to the CVT sound. I currently have the CX-50 Preferred. I LOVE the feel of the interior, the Rotary dial option (no fingerprints on the Info screen). Looking forward to 2025 for more of your reviews.

There was one main reason we went with the CX-5 instead of the CX-50. The wife and I both hate the black plastic that ALWAYS fades and looks horrible after 10 years. The higher trims of the CX-5 does not have any of the cheap black plastic.

I love seeing someone appreciate Mazda's engineering and packaging prowess. I've owned 4 Mazdas over the years and in every single one I've found details that no one will ever see, but Mazda addressed it so it would be correct. Even when working with Ford and Volvo parts, they managed to elevate them. I see the same thing here with the Toyota parts. Love it.

As a previous, current and future Mazda owner this makes me extremely proud of Mazda. Yes the CX90(I have a mild hybrid) has its issues which I know are and will keep being improved in the future models. That's kind of expected from a first model with a completely new platform. But still drives and handles impressively for a vehicle of that size.

AMD, Here in Canada, it may be easier to find a RAV4 Hybrid powertrain at the Mazda dealership than it is to find one at a Toyota dealer. I can only imagine Toyota dealers and sales staff will be saying bah humbug!! 🤨 Getting back to the CX-50, the rear seat headroom 31:10 is worst in class by some distance.

thanks for this review. I just bought this car bc it's like 3 in 1, I hate the RAV4 and Subaru bc they're ugly, but love how Mazda looks and how it handles in the mtns. Glad I got mine in preferred trim ❤ Coming from a 2015 Audi Q5 3T, I feel the Mazda interiors quality is similar. I like the infotainment dial cuz the Q5 had it too. Some observations: 1. The screen is touchscreen only when connected to CarPlay. 2. iPhone 14 Pro Max wireless charging only works when placed with the camera side away from the driver side. 3. Remote start requires the Mazda app and $10/month sub after one free year. 4. The noise is also loud compared to my old Q5. 5. No parking sonar on any trim.

The partnership between Mazda and Toyota on this model reminds me of the Lotus partnership of the old days where Lotus used the Toyota 2ZZ engine on their Elise and Exige models. I just love when companies are sensible and practical in their approaches.

I am so glad Mazda went with Toyota this time around. I had a Mazda cx9 that was pleasure to drive but the poor decision to join Ford was the worst mistake they ever made. The long list of parts failure and recalls until one day it decided to blow the engine at 120k miles. I still get shivers down the spine when I see a Mazda logo.

Mr. Care Nut is a great man, I love the guy, but he is 5 foot 7 inches tall.. One BIG problem if you are over 5 foot 7 is the low roofline on the CX-50.. As good as Mazda made this CX-50.. I only wish they would have raised the roofline about 3 inches. That would have made this CX-50 much MUCH better for anyone taller than 5 foot 7.. Look at Mr. CarNut at 29:00 ... you can see he barely has enough headroom at his 5 foot 7 height.. Anyone over 5 foor 7 and you run into serious problems with interior room, lack of comfort, and you have serious outward visibility in all directions.. And bad outward visibility makes this vehicle UNSAFE to drive.. That is unfortunate.. I am about 6 foor 2 and really like the rest of the CX-50.. I think Mazda made a big mistake because they made the roofline way too low..

I've been a fan of Mazda's design for quite a while now, and I love that they still have good options available for those who want a naturally aspirated engine and a transmission with actual gears. But the direct injection has been my only concern. This looks like everything I'd want in a nice little crossover. I've never gone with a hybrid, but this is one I'd have no problems considering! Toyota powertrain and Mazda design truly make for the best of both worlds!

Here is why Rav4 will still sell more than this version of CX50 1. Toyota Brand value is more. 2. SPACE - Biggest issue, Rav4 comes with 37.6 Cubic Feet Vs CX50 comes with 31.4 Cubic Feet. (CRV is in different league) Even if Mazda is trying to target premium audience (may be german car customers) but it is still being compared with a regular Commuter. (because it is a commuter car) Regular customer wants more space and reliability. (two biggest needs of a family of 2 to 4 people) (PS: I am a Mazda owner)
