Sir I have problem with my Nissan Tiida CVT 2012 a Air Condition guy fixed my AC and did not rap a wire properly in the engine this result in a grounds that burnt the Ac wire to the fuse box and make the car turn over but not start I took it to a technician where he changed the engine harness however he said I had to get a new ECU for the vehicle what could be the most common issue caused to have the car not start also wat could be issue inside the ECU to be damage and is it fixable ?

The key for their repair is your knowledge then second is the ECU emulator. They are expensive but very useful. Also you will need other tools like Oscilloscope, multimeter, soldering iron, hot air station, screw drivers, hex torx and other tools etc. Also you need a database of information.

haha i think that is best thing my friend i have a question for you if you have the time to answer you seem very knowledgeable about ecu components if that is the right terminology i have a motorbike i don't ride much and the battery gets disconnected but i must enter a pin every time i re connect i was thinking if i erase the immobilizer eeprom programming will i have to bother with this security system anymore will my motorbike operate correctly just minus the security? or if i reprogram the eeprom i am just learning about this in my own time thank you very much please get back to me at your earliest convenience

You can get the pin identifications in the vehicle service manual. In my cars service manual I was able to find the voltages that should be at each pin..you could Google "name of your car", don't forget to add whether it's automatic or manual "ECU pinout" & you might get lucky. If not search for your cars service manual..there are physical books for purchase & electronic versions. I think mine had this info in the "relay and control modules info" section

+saaed ibrahim No dear friend there is no battery instead the information you are storing is stored on a flash memory. Unfortunately there are such problems occurred sometimes as you stated due to bad design of the equipment design. You can overcome them by using different techniques and options. Try to compensate your idle air by mechanical adjustment if the electronic calibration may not help. Regards,

Great to see your comment. Scope and volt meter are same in nature. You can use any. But using scope is better if you have one that it will show you waveform also. Wish you good luck with your troubleshooting.

Thanks for subscribing on my channel. Subscribe if not yet subscribed! Voltage may be fine but the throttle bodies are accumulating dust and debris. You should clean that for nice performance and good idle. You should watch a few of my throttle body cleaning videos on my channel to understand the subject. Also there is one or two videos focusing on drive by wire throttle body cleaning. You will know how to clean them and set up the idle to a nice value. Please don't hesitate to ask anything anytime. If you are repairing one ECU and that is giving you same problem repeatedly, it means the repair is not successful or the ECU circuit went overloaded. In such a situation a very perfect and extensive repair of the circuit is required or otherwise you can replace the whole ecu with another one. On the other hand if the problem is repeating with another replaced ecu, there seems to be some problem with your throttle body. Try replacing that one. Regards,

For accurate dc voltage measurement i tend to use a digital multimeter, oscilliscopes tend not to be too accurate, i seem to remember 3%. Also your multimeters resistance is typically 10million ohms so it would not affect delicate circuits, im waffling again ha ha :-))

Yes you are correct. Multimeter are great to test for DC voltages and rms ac quantities. But problem is sometimes you are checking waveforms and intermittent behaviors so you are using oscilloscope then it is handy to use oscilloscope as a multimeter to test both AC and DC.

Problem is that when my pathfinder 2003 is on last quarter of petrol it automatically turn off engine then i have to start it again .and it happen around 3 to 4 times untill i refill the petrol.i m not sure if its fuel pump prob. Dear friend this needs further investigation. Sometimes there is no problem with the ECU but some problem external to ECU like in wiring, relay or some control module which drives your fuel pump. All is needed to carefully check all the system before attempting to replace the ECU as it is an expensive part. Also if it is petrol car, ask your mechanic to put petrol from the outside or provide propane to the engine and let it start. If it starts and runs on external fuel source, they should make some arrangement for fuel pump external to ECU. In this way you will be saved from an expensive replacement or repair. Or on the other hand if car doesn't start and runs on external fuel and everything is ok outside the ECU, you will need to repair the unit or to replace it with another good ECU. Sometimes it could be due to immobilizer security problem if it is immobilizer equipped car. There are a few more videos on immobilizer and security on my channel. You may watch them and get some idea. Let me know when you may do the above with your car. Wish you good luck with your car repair.

thanx sir. I want to provide some more information that my car is having a diesel engine. Mechanic check fuel pump directly by giving power to it then it works and starts to eject fuel but car is not able to start because injectors are also not working at that time. But now mechanic is saying that injectors are now working there is a problem in the wiring which is now fixed but fuel pump is not working right now.

So then it should be easy. If the injectors are working and the car is start with external power to fuel pump, it is an easy task to make a keyed power to the pump then. It will save your big money compared to ECU repair or replacement. Regards,

Seems internal voltage regulator went bad. You can use some other arrangement to create such working voltage. Means use some external voltage regulator. Or the perfect solution could be the repair of the ECU if you have enough electronics knowledge. Wish you good luck with your repair. Regards,

+Ashok Singh it is needed to marry the new or replacement ECU to the car. Sometimes it need reprogramming or ECU refreshing and some tomes sure key and lock cylinder replacement. This depends on your auto lock smith abilities and facilities. Good lock smith can reprogram it for you. Soon I may add an article to my blogspot on this subject. Stay tuned.

You mean if you make any arrangement for fuel pump to run then it could cause any problem to ECU? Then the answer is there will be no problem to ECU at all if one may do it carefully and may not touch the ECU wiring in such modification. Such modification would a perfect solution in your case. It could be a defective ECU or could be problem somewhere outside the ECU. It needs proper investigation. Anyhow the external keyed power to the fuel pump should solve your problem. Regards,

It could be a bad fuse or wiring problem. Seems there will be some +12V supply rail missing to certain section. Check first for blown fuse and then check for wiring. For fuse testing refer my other videos on my channel. Thanks for linking and subscribing.

Hi! I'm also interested what that signals on that TP are for? Each TP is describen in a service diagram and the must have value are also described there. I respect this video and I'm not a hater. I just interested to figure out your technic how your are make a decision which signal on that TP is ok and which is not. Actually, a signal can have more parameters than voltage high. So, how you know if you get pwm signal or only a jumping 5v signal because something is wrong in the circuit and the signal looks like similar as a pwm type? I actually a bit confused with this explanation: here is 5v, here is 12v here is square wave or whatever, without to have the parameters of the exactly TP...

Don't worry some stupid loser's comment,....they are jealous of your knowledge, only freaking thing they can do, is a bad hangover =)) So, I am having a problem with my ECM/ infiniti FX45/2004, AC works sometimes, sometimes not, freon level is OK, and compressor works??, and engine smokes a lot, could have issue also with piston rings..., and valve stem gasgest,...BUT, could faulty ECM also change valve timing, and be a reason for extra smoke in engine??? I only have 120000 miles, power is not great, but is OK, and there is no noise in engine?? Drinks oil like crazy, 1/2 a quart/ day???? How could I test my ECM, before I buy a new one, they are so, so expensive =((( If I send it to you, how much you charge to test/ fix it??? Be reasonable, buddy;o) Well done, youtheman =)
