I like the GT100+ but from what I have seen, the included A/C adapter does not provide full battery voltage. It provides 11.9V to 11.8V which is low if you are programming some module that require close to 13V. Have you experienced that? Or should I purchase the older GT100 model which does not have this issue. By the way.... I'm loving the GT101 I got thanks to your review.
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Next Level Auto Diagnostics! ahh good question, I have not tested the GT100 but It's very likely it shares the same AC adapter with the GT100+ (it's cheaper to share components across models) what you probably saw was an adapter that was on the high side of the design tolerances (typically I see +/- 5-10% in the industry) assuming it's 5%, voltage can be as low as 11.4 and as high as 12.6 and the AC adapter will pass QA inspection. The AC adapter included on the GT100+ is model number 12200 if it helps. But yeah here is my follow up video where I cover why in some cases it makes sense to use a regulated power supply instead of the included adapter (both for voltage requirements but also to control amperage) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqaqmWqsdrdkd68 Hope this helps, Cheers Bud!

Hi thanks for the video.I wanted to learn how to use BOBs. I found the video good. If the immo feature of the GT105 is taken off how different are the GT100+ and GT105?
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 2 жыл бұрын
Hi PartOEMS! Ah good question here is the full review of the GT105 kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6K0gmqoesp7i8U The GT105 is a low cost IMMO access tool with a couple of additional features. The GT100+ is a full breakout box so it's a different product all together. Here is more in depth video where I show how to use the GT100+ kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqaqmWqsdrdkd68 Now at one point they had planned to introduce an Add On harness for the GT105 to add breakout box capabilities but I think the expected cost of the harness plus the GT105 just brought the product too close if not same as the cost of the GT100+ so it didn't make much sense to continue developing the Add On (again this is just my opinion, not sure what GoDiag decided internally) Hope this helps, Cheers!

@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun Жыл бұрын
Hi Nestor! That is strange, mine has a tight fit, but then again OBD2 connectors do have tolerances so it's possible the OBD2 connector on the OBD2 scan tool is on the larger end of the dimensional tolerance making it feel loose (I also review OBD2 tools and this is something that I always noticed how each tool feels either looser or tighter when connected to the car's OBD2 port) It's also possible the OBD2 connector on the OBD2 tool may be wearing out (the do wear from use since they are just plastic) leading to the connector feeling loose when mated to an OBD2 port. Cheers!

So for this to work as a breakout box do I have to have a odb2 to scan tool hooked up to it also?
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 8 ай бұрын
Hi Kampy! Yes this is a breakout box. As explained in the video, it can be used in many ways, it can be used to check for OBD2 port functionality, to check for communication, to protect a scanner from a suspected defective OBD2 port, it can be used to access each OBD2 pin individually, to check for current draw, to check for correct voltage, to bring the OBD2 port closer to a scan tool by acting as an extension cable, to power an ECU outside a vehicle, to access the IMMO function in some vehicles and more (just really depends on the skill of the mechanic using it). And yes, you could also connect a scanner to the box pass thru cable to check for DTC's or to access other advanced functions your vehicle may support (assuming your scanner also supports it) and for programming. Cheers!

Could this tool be used to scan a TCU ?
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 3 ай бұрын
Hi D! This system is meant to power an ECU / PCM, while it may be possible to power a TCM, it may not be possible to communicate directly to it unless tapping the individual pins on the TCM (since ECU PCMs have OBD communications and TCMs likely talk thru the ECU PCM for OBD). I would imagine daisy chaining the matching ECU to TCM would likely be the easiest way to interface to it but I personally have not tried it. Cheers!

@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertmccully2792 Thank you Robert! Ah yes, I haven't reviewed any programming software yet, it's definitely a whole other lever of knowledge which I honestly would leave to a dedicated tuner (unless your modifying your car's tune constantly I think it may be cheaper to leave programming to a tuning shop, which also has the advantage of being able to put the car on the dyno to confirm results) but would will keep an eye out for software for programming, may even look into the HP Tuners products at some point (the good thing is that most of these style of software communicates via OBD2 so there is high likely hood you won't need the GT100+ unless your are doing something that is specific to the module. Cheers!

Hi Loren Natonie! that sounds correct, if the PCM is being replaced with another one the SKIM will not match and the anti-theft system will prevent the car from working, I cover this in more detail in this other video kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKm8gYWaqc6rfdU There are two work arounds, the first one is to swap out all other components to match the SKIM (typically the cluster, PCM and ignition switch) however the preferred way is to send the PCM in for programming so it can correctly match the rest of the vehicle, I put links to the resources that can be used for programming in the video description of the PCM swap video I linked in this comment.
