Beautifully stunning Fury! Now that she’s rockin’ a 413, it’s appropriate to crank up the Beach Boy’s tune - “Shut Down”! 😉

62 Dodges and Plymouths are one of my all time favorite cars. The downsized design that was criticized is what makes them so awesome today , the lightest B body ,unique wow styling . I want one .

Gorgeous car! Great job on the restoration. My first car was a 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury. Bought it in late 1981. My dad was a mechanic and he maintained the vehicle for a little ole lady who was meticulous. 318, though, but still fairly fast. It got me through college and my young dumb brain thought a 4x4 F250 would be better. Oh, hindsight!!

@leroy brown 413 had the cross ram too. The Beach boys song "Shut down" was about one racing a Stingray. A magazine did the actual race between a correct Vette and the Dodge and the Beach boys must have been on something when they wrote the song because the Vette got stomped lol

In 1968 or 69 (I was 15 or 16) I bought a 1962 (red) Plymouth Fury with a 361CI 4 barrel three speed (manual on the collum). It had wide ovals, keystone mag's, shakel's (California rake) glass pack's, and duel exhaust.

Of course they do. You can get Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers in muscle versions. And, if you can afford one, there's always Corvette. And, believe it or not, there are some turbo charged VWs, Porches and Audis out there that will knock your socks off!

Marten Trudeau thank God they don't make'em like that anymore! Heavy, slow, can't turn, can't brake, no heat, A/C sucked, winter driving is an lol. You can buy a Civic that's as fast or faster. I'm an old guy, retired mechanic, and I endorse this message.

@Jeremy Thompson cars were fun to drive in those days because you had to really drive them. High torque and terrible everything else! But I'm much much older now and i see there's a Mustang that goes 0-60mph just north of 3 seconds not to mention the monsters Dodge makes now. Yes the nostalgia is fun but today's cars are just what we old, experienced motoheads have wanted our entire lives. Take care and drive it like it's stolen and keep the shiny side up my friend.

I Love old Chrysler B bodies! The one I raced was 1962 Sort Fury which was basically a beaten, clapped out street car. I bought it with a manual shift pushbutton 727, 3,91 gear and a forged crank 440 ,running and driving for $300.00! I gutted the car, welded in sheet metal in the qtrs. & wheel wells, put in plexiglass side windows, lexan' windshield, 6 point roll cage. Fun car to build! I came to absolutely LOVE that body style and I'd love to have another one.... If I could find the same deal for the same money...

To increase the value of the car I would at least replace the intake manifold with a stock 413 cross-ram manifold with two Carter 650 cfm carbs. In 1962 Plymouth named the engine the" Super Stock 413". It should be noted that the 413 ramcharger engine is exactly the same and was used in the Dodge Dart vehicles.

The answer, is driving it until it's so hot with low coolant in the radiator, until it cracks the cylinder walls (low coolant in the block). Then the only option, is to sleeve the cylinder that's cracked, & "O" ring the sleeves, to prevent any coolant to leak past the sleeve & cylinder. I've seen many 383's had this repair done.

When cast metals experience heat extremes, they warp or crack. I would imagine said coolant leak caused the engine to overheat and the block cracked as a result.

1962 was the year that Chrysler, for some unknown reason, decided to drop a few of their "heavy duty" engines in some mid-size cars. The 361 was originally designed as a high torque engine for trucks. I had one in a 66 Dodge Polara. Everyone thought it was a 383. It actually had more torque that the 383.
