The thing with finance is that when you get that new thing, whatever it might be, you're full of excitement for the new thing. A few years later, the 'new thing' excitement has gone and you've got a constant bill every month. It's just pain you don't need. Great video mate.

Definitely agree with you on the uncertainty aspect. I have owned a car outright for the last 10 years. Now I'm 28 and got my first car on finance because I only now feel secure enough to do so having got into a career which is in demand so even if I'm made redundant I'd be able to get another job quick, and I also have a good amount of savings which adds to the feeling of security.

Bro! Love the message you are getting across! Ppl need to know cz it just aint talked about enough! There ain't no bigger flex than than owning ur car outright. Period! Basically anyone can finance a car. But it goes way deeper than all your points still! U need another 15 min video! PCP finance, offers cheaper monthly payments, because there is a balloon payment at the end, you don't even own the car, u agree a set amount of miles you drive it a year and if you go over you pay extra for each mile you exceed. If you pay the balloon at the end, you own the car at that point, or you can even finance the balloon 😂 HP u pay crazy interest over 4 or 5 years! My opinion is its so dumb to pay interest on a depreciating asset. At the end of the day, your disposable income is your biggest wealth builder, you pay opportunity cost having to many monthly outgoings, you can't pull the trigger on an opportunity like ppl that have the disposable income left over every month. I can guarantee you in a 5 year period most ppl will come across an opportunity that is a bargain, be ready for it. If your in the car scene it might even be buying a car at a steal from some guy desperate to get out a shitty finance deal! Ironic! Keep talking bout this man! Keep going deeper. I learnt from a shitty finance deal on my 1st ever car when I was a teen and never will do it again.

Nice video, totally agree with your points most people don't consider how unpredictable life can be and how a long-term financial commitment can be devastating. A lot of my mates shafted themselves and can't get a big enough mortgage because they're still paying off their car finances from when they were 18/19. I'm 22y/o and still daily my first car (2007 corsa D). I've put 70k miles on it now as it approaches 140k but I have no interest in replacing it as it has been unbelievably reliable. I do own some older cars: an mr2 turbo, e30, e39 donor (for e30 m52 swap) and an NA MR2. By not having a finance I've been in the position to get cars that need a bit of work, stay on the road with a dinger and be able to put money back into the cars (obviously, this is a different situation to buying a newer vehicle).

Maybe having a luxury / high performance car when like you said it's not "your lane" isn't a good move, which I agree with. However from personal experience. I once wish I had financed a car as I had purchased the car for cash. Within a week it went wrong with an intermittent electric fault. The dealer was a cowboy and refused to take the car back (yes I could have gone taken them to court but I didn't want the stress of trying to take someone to court over an 10k car). If I had financed the car I could've simply told them I'm not paying for a broken car and I could've dropped it off with the finance company and told them to sort it all out. My overall point is there's always two sides to a coin. Be smart, don't live above your means for social hierarchy.
