Bodily injury liability coverage - to cover you went you hurt someone else (your fault) Property damage liability- to pay for someone else’s repairs (your fault) Recommend minimum of 50 K Collision - covers me if accident my fault and will cover repairs to my car Deductible: Comprehensive- covers a thief, flood, a tree falling Deductible: Uninsured/underinsured coverage - cover your medical costs when someone else hits you and they don’t have enough insurance to cover your bills or don’t have any insurance. Can result in only 10 to 15 k in payment and covering car repairs yourself 😮 Bodily injury: choose same limit as bodily injury liability Property damage : slightly more than car value Personal injury protection - if you’re injured, the insurance company will pay for your medical injuries Comes before health insurance. Doesn’t require meeting deductible. Quick pay out Avoids going to court to get money What’s deductible? What you have to pay out of pocket (deducted from claim payment) Lower deductible, higher policies Do some deductible math to confirm you can get low deductible for an affordable monthly cost Gap coverage : leased or financing a car? Your fancy new car gets wrecked and your insurance write you a check for less that what you still owe on it. But gap coverage will take care of the difference. Rental car coverage : save you on rental car costs Road side assistance: to get roadside help . Super cheap .

Also so auto insurance doesn't even help covering regular car maintenance stuff like tires, fluids, etc? Idk seems like a rip off to me

You must be new to insurance. Lol. Learning about insurance is part of adulting. Everyone knows it's a rip off. Insurance is a business. They're number one priority is to make money. However a lot of people do take advantage of insurance companies and insurance companies take advantage of people. We're all screwed. With car prices only going up insurance isn't coming down any time soon. Welcome to the club. My advice is to buy some lube or don't drive a car.

I'm 26 I will keep it short If tou get a ticket, pay a lawyer to take it off tour record #2 take a defense driving course helps to lower your payments #3 don't let anybody drive your car if somebody needs a lift and if you can take that person #4 look for discount look for the cheapest insurance you can find #5 if somebody hits you. Don't say you are okay and call your lawyer and ALWAYS CALL THE POLICE

In NH I didnt need car insurance and never got it until I moved until VA. Very stupid. I never really feared having to pay for a car, it was always the risk of hurting someone. Thanks for sharing Andrew!

If I had the option I wouldnt have insurance. With as little as I drive and also with as much attention I use while driving it would be someone else who hits me and me not them. Also when you know you are on the hook and dont have insurance you would drive a lot more cautious I believe. With as much rates have gone up under Biden I need to save as much money as I can.

How does an insurance complany know how much to pay? For example, property damage. If you barely hit someones car on accident, and their car was already a piece of shit, that person is obviously going to try and squeeze every last dime out of you and more by lying and saying you did more damage than you really did, possibly going over your maximum.
