@@ThatDudeinBlue Maybe consider a second channel for the videos that get lower views, such as the story ones and keep the reviewing of cars on this one, it really impacts your channel overall. Apparently that's how the algorithm works. The videos that get 20-30k views will mess up your 100k+ videos and won't push them out to be recommended. I don't get recommended any of your videos anymore which sucks, I always have to check in every now and then.

The thing I run into a lot is I have more trivia-grade car knowledge than I do mechanical. I know models, makes, etc but I am absolutely NOT the kind of guy that can walk up to a muscle car, and go "Is that the [model] with the [shorthand for the particular engine] or the [shorthand for another particular engine that car came with]?" and get into a convo with someone about the gearing, significant parts to the build and what components the car either had from factory, components that were aftermarket but period-correct, other components that were only available on specific models or trims of that car that they may have sourced and installed on the car to improve performance, etc. My hat goes off to people that just have that kind of mental encyclopedia to be able to leave me sitting there acting like I'm listening to Martian, and absolutely humble me as far as car-enthusiasm goes. And, while I do despise gate-keeping from people who then take that knowledge and use it to be condescending, those that don't, and instead like to be open about their knowledge to someone that doesn't know it, thats awesome.

I've got one. One of the biggest misconceptions in the automotive world, posted everywhere, ad naseum: "VW owns Porsche." The Volkswagen Group owns a controlling interest in Porsche AG (the manufacturer), but Porsche SE (a holding company) owns a controlling interest in the VW group. VW and all its brands are under the Porsche-Piëch family.

My first instructor/basic engine course 20yrs ago was an engineer on the Yamaha SHO Taurus. Old man was smart as shit but taught like Ben Stein in Farris Bullers lol. All he talked about was that Yamaha motor. He’s probably gone now but the pride he had for that car is something I’m still looking for as a car guy. Anytime I hear about the old Taurus SHO it kinda takes me back to this.

Great video! Here are some comments/corrections: - Ford did not invent the assembly line, he "stole" it from the DeSoto Bros. - You forgot the 3000gt/Stealth for DSM - Rear end: in some contexts, this does encompass the housing as well (like a Ford 9 inch) - Engine size as designation is common nomenclature among most Japanese engines, as well as older American Engines. In the 80's, American engine designations started to get extremely arbitrary. - John DeLorean started the muscle car wars with the 1964 GTO, where he took a full size car engine (the 389) and put it in a smaller mid sized platform. The Mustang was not a direct competitor to the GTO, at least not initially, and like the Camaro, was a smaller pony car. The Camaro was a direct competitor to the Mustang, but it was the Chevelle that is considered the main Muscle car for Chevrolet. - Ironically, VW owns half of those German brands. - Top Fuel dragsters use to do the 1/4 but because they got so fast, Top fuel no longer does it. It was AWESOME when they did. - Audi logo is also... 4 wheels - BMW's legacy building planes is why the BMW logo is a spinning propeller - Many Car manufactures either originally, or at some point, made plane engines, including Rolls Royce - Flat fours (like the VW Type II and Subaru engines) are common enough to not assume a 4 cylinder is always inline - When talking left or right on cars, it is ALWAYS from the perspective driver, in the driver's seat, so you got that backwards: Nissan is left (Driver's), Toyota is right (passengers). - Lamborghini's gripe actually was about creature comforts, that Ferrari's race cars lacked, as they were "pure." This difference is still somewhat true today. - BMW's notoriously underrate their engines, and most of the time, the advertised power is actually closer to the wheel horsepower - Mopar is not, nor ever was a performance arm of dodge. It is an all encompassing arm that provides parts for all Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler cars, somewhat similar to what motorcraft is to Ford. Dodge's performance branch was SRT, until they spun that off to it's own thing. Now, Dodge does not technically have a named performance branch.

3:41 something important to add here is that *not every Mitsubishi / Dodge shared vehicle is a DSM car*. A lot of people are quick to think of stuff like the 3000GT/Stealth, or the Starion / Conquest, but these AREN’T DSM CARS, they’re grey imports engineered, built, and assembled 100% by Mitsubishi. A lot of people make this mistake and it makes them look dumb when they do.

On Mopar it is just the service parts division of the Chrysler corporation. They are the equivalent to AC Delco for GM and Motorcraft for Ford. Its name comes from the 2 words MOtor and PARts. Direct Connection was the division of Mopar where you can buy performance parts at the dealer parts counter. Also when someone says they are a Mopar person that means they prefer vehicles from the Chrysler corporation

@10:30... And if you look at the gauges in a lot of 80's cars, there's an indicator on the speedo at 55mph, like a red or yellow line. This is because the maximum speed limit in every state was 55mph. @10:55... Volvo invented the 3-point belt. 2 point belts had been in use before then. @12:30... Here's a fact that pisses off some people... A "Supercharger" is any device that forces air into an engine at higher than atmospheric pressure. There are three types, positive displacement, centrifugal, and exhaust driven. Yes, exhaust driven. This means a "turbocharger" is just another name for an exhaust driven supercharger. I always get a few people after saying this that will insist that a turbo is not a supercharger, but it is. @13:30... The term "LS engine" also refers to several engines used in the trucks, based on the LS architecture but don't use "LS" in their names. "LS" really just refers to almost any GM V8 made after 1997. @16:20... Ferrari's are Spiders, other car makers use Spyder. This is because there is no "y" in Italian. @17:30... Lots of cars use 4G based engines, which makes swapping in a turbo 4G63 pretty easy. Cars like the Dodge Colt.
