A 2017 Porsche Macan GTS with a faulty thermostat. The Porsche repair manual calls for the entire front clip to be removed to access the components for replacement.
Jonny doesn't have time for that and leaves the front clip in place and completes the job faster and easier his way.

Hey Johnny. You can make your life a lot easier, buy yourself a roll of .060" lock wire, use it to secure anything, so if you drop it, you can easily get it back. The pulley you just removed, lock wire around it, secure the ends to a water pipe, rubber hose, etc., and never worry about dropping searching for anything again!

One thing about working at home, you have things that just aren't at the shop. I have a couple of extra pool noodles just for working on cars that I don't care if grease gets on them, that I stuff down into tight areas below things I'm taking off that might break if they fall all the way down and hit the ground. Also helps to keep them from getting down to an area that they might get jammed in and take a lot of extra time to get back up and out.

The Factory way and the Jonny way :-) Good tools make a big difference and quality tool makers that answer the needs of their clients are awesome, I have collected Mercedes and Volvo service tools over the years for 70's and 80's models and many of them are now long redundant compliments of newer tool designs, Nice to know its still occurring.

I like watching videos like this and reminds me of why I don’t really want to work on other peoples cars. There’s so much that has to be removed to get to one part and things can break like tabs or snapping a bolt. Shoot while you are filming a KZbin video you should watch some to help you with the belt. I watch a lot of videos and it helps a lot.

Nice to see another video, thought the Ninja went to rehab due to working on these cars!! haha. German cars are so fun to drive but such a PITA to work on. If the Germans could just make things easier to work on they would have the perfect cars. With everything going EV guess it won't matter down the road. Bummer.

The Car Ninja saying “stubby” reminds me of a mechanic friend who had a trainee back in the 80s. He was working on a car and the trainee, let’s call him Tyler, was ‘assisting’. The mechanic asked for a stubby Phillips, Tyler pretended to look for the screwdriver, he was taking too long a time. The mechanic was getting impatient and started shouting “pass the stubby Phillips! Have you found it, it was right there!!??” Tyler was getting upset that he couldn’t find it, and at being shouted at. The mechanic didn’t know that Tyler didn’t know what a stubby Phillips was, Tyler was too proud/scared to fess up. (Mechanics DID THINGS to trainees in the 1980s) The whole scene ended with Tyler screaming “WHO THE F**K IS STUBBY PHILLIPS, I HAVEN’T SEEN HIM, WHO IS HE, DOES HE WORK HERE?” 😮😂😢

Missed you, but i can see how you've been buisy, seems like the more emissions garbage covering the engine bay like octopus tentacles, hiding common failure parts that usually require maintenance, like the thermostat, belts, alternator, starter, and the many plastic components that become brittle and break due to the heat produced by the engine and exhaust, less people want to work on the stuff, which kinda gives a good shop like yours a llot more work. G-d bless y'all, looking forward to more video's.
