You make a difficult/complicated install look so easy, not to mention clean and tidy, too. I can see where it'll be a very valuable piece of equipment for your travels. Thanks, Mr. Van . . . hugs for you and Joey

Hi Tsuki, Most things are easy, when you take the time to do it and when you know what you're doing. I often lack the latter, but time makes up for it :) I'm starting to see some progress now. Van & Joey Williams

Another fun video. That's quite the head unit. I really like how shallow/light it looks. The GPS/camera with no extra stuff cluttering your window will prove invaluable. I also appreciate that you are spending based on what you want...not the most expensive everything...save that money for beautiful woodwork:)

Hi stgreen78, I've always been somewhat of a cheapskate, but lately I'm more and more embracing minimalism. As I said in the video, I never use a car radio, just wanted a display screen for the DVR and was able to incorporate a GPS instead of a standalone unit. It fits my needs and was fairly affordable. I will add three more (mini) cameras to the front unit. Unfortunately only 720p; would have liked 1080p, but couldn't find anything small, unobtrusive and affordable. That will be a future upgrade. This is great... Thank you! I just bought a Transit but I'm not happy with the bare bones dashboard. This is very cool. One question... The van has a backup camera but it displays in the rear view mirror and it's really too small. Can I still use that camera with a new touch screen radio? Will it still show my projected path? Do the steering wheel controls still control the radio and Bluetooth? Thanks again!
@cargovanconversion6 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, I have the same setup with the camera (and radio) and I like the small screen, but I get what you mean. I assume that if you could find and reroute the video input to the screen, you should be able to connect that wire to a new touch screen radio. However, generally I stayed away from any and all of the built-in features. All Ford electronics are wired and connected to the same computer system and changing/removing or adding can have unexpected consequences. I did add a rear bumper parking sensor (also one at the front) with audible alarm, but completely separate except for the 12V backup signal, which I tapped into at the trailer harness, that was included with my build. You could do the same with a second rear view camera. BTW, I would stay away from wireless cameras as they don't perform as well. Hope that helps. Wish you a happy New Year! Van Williams

Mine is a 2016 Ford Transit 250 Medium High Long vehicle. I had the same issue. Bought a cheap Chinese radio/GPS, didn't work, no readable manual. After a long struggle I found that the power wire in the connector of the Chinese radio was at the wrong location. Matched it up with the power connector of the van and it has been working since. Otherwise check all the wires with a simple volt meter first. And/or use a separate power station first. 12V in a Ford Transit switches off automatically after 20-30min. These appliances are usually tested before they leave the factory. Hope that helps, let me know. _Van Williams_

Very nice install, unlike the dashboards in the 60's and 70's today there's little room for getting your fingers let alone your arm into the dash to pull wires. I do have to ask you, Was there a face plate for the monitor/Radio that you trimmed for the opening?. I will be installing a similar system in my van and experience is the best teacher. So when time permits it would be a great help if you are able to send me a quick message on the unit you installed. Thanks again for a great video and as always. An informational video. Pat Joey for me! Thanks.
@cargovanconversion6 жыл бұрын
Hi Beeps, You're right, there is absolutely no room to pull wires. The van came with a standard radio, that's one din high. I got a Metris Double Din kit, that allowed me to install the taller radio. The radio fits in there perfectly (although I needed to remove a sliver on each side). The radio has it's own gray/black, narrow bezel. Also needed an antenna adapter and wiring harness. The radio came with its own GPS antenna. Links to the specific radio and DDin kit are in the description of the video. I'm working on a new video with some extra footage about the DDIN kit only and one about the radio installation. More or less a compilation of several older videos. If you need more info, post a comment here or send me an email at van@cargovanconversion.com Van & Joey Williams

Hey there, I have a question on a different topic I’m wondering I have 2 6v 200ah batteries and thinking of buying a small microwave am I able to do so?
@cargovanconversion6 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward, I assume you have lead-acid batteries (with Lithium things are a bit different). 2 x 6V = 12V/200Ah. Max. usable is 100Ah. Using a 120V inverter at most 9Ah is available (100Ah / 11). I don't know how much your microwave uses, but certainly much more. In reality a microwave places more demands on your system. So the answer is no. Usually a microwave is one of the few things you cannot use on battery/solar power. It is possible, but in general you would need much more in batteries and solar panels. 300Ah Lithium @ 12V would likely do the job also because they can charge and release power much faster. Mooi werk, Nico!
@petermastenbroek52646 жыл бұрын
@cargovanconversion6 жыл бұрын

Groetjes, Peter.
@cargovanconversion6 жыл бұрын
