This is a great tutorial! I did about 15” for my 12 month old. I traced the hood on her coat for that part of the pattern but I forgot to account for seam allowance so the hood is a little shallow, maybe I’ll add in a trim... just wanted to put that out there to maybe save someone else the trouble

Great video and looks easy enough! Wondering if you could help me figure out how to make it longer to cover his feet when carried to the car. He's a big 14 months, but my daughter wants it to be more of a removable hooded blanket instead of a poncho. For now she just wants something to keep him warm while she gets him in and out of the car...and I think this would be perfect and easy enough to keep it out the way for buckling him in. Thanks for the tutorial!

Hey Whitney. I have searched and searched for the "hood" part of this pattern. I don't have a coat for a little one. I wanted to make this for a friend's little girl. Can you give me the dimensions for the hood. I love this pattern and I really want to make it. Thanks

Could you give the measurements for the hood? I don't have a jacket with a hood to go by. It's for my granddaughters who live 8 hrs away from us.

I made the poncho almost 7 years ago...long gone and nothing even close to that size left in my house to measure. I'm sure you can search online and find a free hood pattern to help you.

Hi Mrs Whitney, I really your child poncho and your daughter is so adorable. I also checked out your face mask tutorial months ago and love 💘 your design. You should be a designer. I have some tips to share with you after your response.

Good morning Whitney! I have a question i hope you, or someone, can answer. I’m a fairly new sewist and ive made three carseat ponchos that came out pretty nice. Well i just bought the cutest fabric for a fourth poncho, but i need the fabric to be 25 inches from neck to knee, but when i fold the fabric selvedge to selvedge , then fold one more time, my fabric isnt long (wide?) enough to measure 25 inches. This particular fabric only goes to about 19-20 inches. What am i doing wrong? I just saw at Joannes some fabric labeled “wide” fabric, but the selection was minimal. Can someone help me please? 😳 thank you for any advice or suggestions❤(I purchased two yards of this fabric.)

You can cut it as long as the fabric allows then cut some strips of fabric to gather and add as a ruffle to the bottom to extend it. Hope that helps.

WHERE do I find the pattern for the hood as well as the body of the poncho ?????? Kind of annoying not being able to find this.. Thank you Whitney...
@Whitney_Sews4 жыл бұрын
As I mentioned in the video, the body of the poncho is a basic circle skirt pattern that you draft to suit the size of the person you are making it for. Then trace a hood from an existing garment and add seam allowance.

I found website but "access denied" when i tried to send you my email address to get the pattern

There isn't a printable pattern for this project. You use the child's measurements to make your own pattern.
