i get close to 40 mpg on highway (cruise control) and average combined of 30 mpg. best compact suv. they are not making solid vehicles like these anymore.

You are missing the point of diesels. HP is not what counts, torque is (and it's massive compared to the 3.5)...as Cooley has explained in this and many other videos.
