Bought a 2015 a few days ago and it has been the most fun used commuter car I've ever had. It's tiny but mighty.

I bought 2015 Fiat 500e 2 weeks back and since then my MDX is relaxing in garage, while this baby is my daily commuter :D. How much did you spend to buy yours, I couldn't find it anywhere cheaper than 13k and that's what I spent :(. Though I've seen this car going for about 8k in 2019

+danny41499 that bad? wow... I had mine for around 1.5 years. So far so good. Just 2~3 software update taht's all. nothing dramatic. What happened to yours?
@daniels78628 жыл бұрын
+william31518 your very lucky then. the first time it went in it refused to charge. it was there over a week because parts were on backorder. it had 300 miles on it. second time it refused to go into drive. I was backing out of a parking spot and when I tried to go from reverse to drive, nothing happened. then a service propulsion light came on and non matter how many times I restarted the car, nothing. I had to push it back in the parking space. didn't even have license plates. then the third time I was driving down the road and the power completely turned off when I was going 75 down the hwy. barely made it to the shoulder. now it's been to the dealer for the 4th time in 6 months. abs light is on, then service esc on, service propulsion system light, service charging system. I can't take it. it is an amazing car when it works. but I can't afford to rely on a vehicle that is so DANGEROUSLY unreliable.
@williamlai315188 жыл бұрын
+danny41499 Glad that you made it to the shoulder safely, that sounds really dangerous. How does the lemon law works? how long is it going to take? If let's say they give you a total refund. What car do you want to get next? the Leaf?
@daniels78628 жыл бұрын
+william31518 I originally bought the car for 16 year my son because he wanted one, but he let's me drive it mostly since he doesn't need a car all the time, and I really thought it was a blast to drive. after the lemon law is finished he already has a car lined up he wants. A hummer H2. so I'm gonna get that for him. and the way I'm doing the lemon law is simpler because it's leased, and I'm not asking for money back since the payments so far have been made by the 2500 dollar rebate. I just want then to simply take it back. it was as simple as calling corporate and telling them the issues. I'm just waiting for them to finish reviewing my case. also to be able to file lemon law your car has to be in the shop 3 times in the first year or in the shop over 30 days. and believe me I don't care how much gas it's going to take to get fill that hummer. it's going to be worth it when I don't have to deal with this car anymore.

@rp96742 жыл бұрын
If you can't charge at work, not 1st gen leaf. If it's mostly fwy, round trip that's max range for 500e & Spark EV. Spark MIGHT have optional DC fast charge, if you can find a charger near. Spark charges slower on level 2 220v, 1 of the reasons I went w/ 500e.
@WhoThisGuy5152 жыл бұрын
I'd stear clear of the leafs, lots of issues with their air cooled battery packs that degrades them pretty quick. If the Spark has FC i'd definently go with that as it makes the car way more usable. My round trip to work and home was 3.5 miles and now 12 miles so i went with the 500e because i just can't stand the sparks interior.

You want 100 miles. Make the car just that much bigger for battery. Btw, does these kinds of systems utilize using the breaks to to get power back? You do a lot of slowing down in city traffic. I only drive 50 miles round trip to work. Get in the carpool lane by myself, save time driving to and from work. Yeah - only an idiot would want to make a deal like that.

mrfunkington You are renting your car. Why not just buy a cheap gas car and run it for longer than 2 years? Then you get to keep your car and it hasn't lost any value.
@mrfunkington8 жыл бұрын
Gary - for arguments sake, let's not factor in that I had a car to sell. let's say I just "rented" my vehicle. $3888 for 3 years minus $2500 for my state rebate. I just "rented" a brand new car, for $40 a month, a car that requires zero maintenance and that's covered under a warranty for the entire time I'm renting it. In 3 years, that cars technology will be obsolete and I can go rent another latest technology car. In your scenario I put cash out of my pocket, make $300 a month payments, have to have maintenance done $$ (oil change, transmission flush, coolant change...) for what? A cheap car that I've spent $$$ on in maintenance fees and monthly payments- $20k for a $15k car that when I own it is worth $2k? Maybe you feel good about own8ng a cheap car that has zero value, I'd prefer to drive something that is new, and made a HELL of a lot of financial sense to "rent".

It would be more than $8K, but battery warranty is 8yr / 100K miles. When prices go back down it would be cheaper to buy a low mile used 1.

Get one that has a liquid thermal management system for the batter pack, don't fast charge unless necessary (if available) and you'll never have to replace it. My 2015 500e has 64,000 miles and around town it still gives me an average 109 miles of range. It certainly doing better than my GF dad's truck, he paid 125,000 for it and with 18,000 miles it's getting the engine replaced. So don't think that the life will be short because Someone said so because it's just not true unless it's an air cooled pack and it's being constantly fast charged

+Carl Lafleur so true. I love the car and was able to lease for 229 a month with 0 down for 36 months. my only issue is that with sc Edison rates being so high, it would be cheaper to run a gas power car. my electric bill skyrocketed. now I have to charge at a public station meaning that we drop it off, and then pick it up later. it is a huge inconvenience. not to mention the car is sooooo unreliable. it's been in the shop 4 times in less than 6 months. one day it refused to go in drive and I had to push the car out of traffic. all in a 31k dollar car that didn't even have license plates yet. when I actually get to drive the car it's the best thing ever, but unfortunately it's making life miserable and I'm filing lemon law.
