The passengers will prefer the i30 but the drivers will love the Mazda 3. Now it all depends who has the final say in the car purchase. Passenger(s) vs Driver.
@User-cb4jm Жыл бұрын
I think for a small car like this, that’s likely driven on a solo daily commute to work, that matters far more than what the occasional rear seat passenger thinks. This isn’t a taxi, in that case a Camry would come out on top 😂

Hyundai i30 for me simply because of the big improvements that they have made over the years, that German (previous Audi TT) designer sure has a lot going for the Korean cars. The ride is comfortable and easy which is perfect for everyday use. Yes the Mazda 3 is the best to drive but their styling hasn't changed since kingdom come. Toyota Corolla is a thing of the past no matter how they modify their styling is the same in every other car that they have. Like mobiles and every other electronics, it seems that the Koreans are on a roll.
@dandinofat8 жыл бұрын
"Mazda3/Their styling hasn't change since the kingdom come" Really..... do you really think that? Well in that case, the kingdom would have come just three years ago, in 2013 when the third generation of the model (with its brand new Kodo design) was launched; because the current car it's quite different from the one before, which came from the time when Ford owned this japanese company, and hence shared platforms among those two brands and Volvo, also owned by this USA company back then.

Failed to mention is the characteristic of direct injection engine on mazda and i30, which is fuel efficient and powerful, BUT will suffer from carbon build up issue inside intake manifold after a few years. The cost to remove and clean the carbon inside intake manifold will set owners back approx $800 to $1000.

Trust me, I've owned both and you made the best choice. Hyundais are amazing and mazda has lost it's reputation. Cheap quality, very troublesome and absolutely diabolical aftersales support. I made sure to tell them not only will never take my car to another service centre but I will never recommend mazda to anybody. If you want a mazda buy second hand and find an independent mechanic.I still have my 2006 Hyundai service at dearlership and it has been utterly reliable.

Personally, I'd pick the Mazda 3 from this lot. However, I would consider a VW Golf over this trio. Admittedly it is pricier but it has a lot going for it, and that is correlated in sales as it also features in the top 10 (just). The addition of Carplay /Android Auto in the MY2016 model only enhances the Golf's appeal. Does the i30 come with android auto? How does the caradvice team rate the Golf against these 3?

Dunno mate i hope you are wrong as my wife and i have an i30 and an i40 respectively and i always said i would never own a Hyundai. I have had many Toyotas from my first 78 Corona to 6 more toyotas after that and they have proven bullet proof. So why i ask are Toyota only offering a 3yr 10,000km warranty compared to 5yr unlimited??. They make undoubtedly good cars and i can vouch for that personally but their lack of confidence in their product lost them two customers in my wife and i and now that i have family members who have driven our cars they are going to lose more potential buyers. Toyotas are great cars its about time they backed up that reputation.
@djizzah8 жыл бұрын
They probably think their cars sell that well they dont need to offer longer warrantys but I agree with you, my missus' corolla just ran out of capped servicing and they wanted nearly twice what my neighborhood mechanic charges to change oil and filters once the warranty ran out at 60, 000 k's. I also have a '98 hilux ive owned since new with 400,000ks on it and in that time, not ONE issue!! :)

dji zzah agree, the reliability and service you get is really good! In my country, Norway, the only models selling well are hybrid versions of Yaris, Auris(Corolla) and Rav4. The former best seller, Avensis is completely out of the picture. But do have to say, that compared to Volkswagen, and almost everything else...the smaller Toyota models look sooooooo cheap, hard flimpsy plastic....😩

Its funny, that you call these "small cars" in Australia. Toyota has the Aygo (Europe) / Wigo (Asia) and the Yaris / Vios sitting below its Corolla. Hyundai has the i10 and i20 / Accent sitting below its i30 / Elantra. For developing markets Hyundai even has an even smaller car called the Eon with a 0,8 liter 3-cylinder engine. Mazda skips on a really small car but still has its 2 sitting below the 3. So "small cars"? Well not REALLY considering, that they are only the 2. to 4. smallest cars in the total lineup of their manufacturers. In fact for hatchbacks these cars are enormous. And in my opinion so big, that it spoils their looks. Smaller hatchbacks can look really good, like the new Mazda 2, the Ford Fiesta, the Suzuki Swift, the Kia Rio, the Alfa Romeo Mito, the Mini, the Peugeot 208, the Renault Clio and many others. Even the Toyota Yaris or the Hyundai i20. But to be honest, all these 3 cars just seem a bit wrong to me, especially in red, and I actually think all of them look much better as a traditional sedan. Which would therefore be my choise, if I was going to buy any of them. "But a sedan is not as practical as a hatchback" some might say. And that is true. But only if you ignore the fact, that its bigger boot can accomodate much more luggage for your vacation. And if you really want practicality, then why not get a stationcar? In Europe both the Corolla (called Auris here) and the i30 is available as stationcars. And even they look better than the hatchbacks in my opinion. And offer a lot more practicality than either the hatchback or the sedan versions. What I am getting at here, is, that for me, huge hatchbacks like these are just a completely pointless type of vehicle. If you need space for a whole family, then why not make the vehicle 20 cm longer and turn it into a stationcar with much more room for your luggage for a very small added cost? And if you dont need space for a whole family, then why not make the vehicle smaller, so that it looks a lot better, is cheaper to buy and run, more fun to drive, uses less fuel and is easier to park in town? This whole class of vehicle for me sits between two chairs.
@BomberFletch319 жыл бұрын
+fundiver198 Firstly, these are small cars. Granted, small cars have grow dimensionally since a decade or two ago, but they are still, relatively, small cars. In Australia, we have the 'light' car class - where the i20, Yaris, Fiesta and the like fits in, but we don't have anything in the smaller class. Frankly, I think cars smaller than that are completely pointless. But I see your point re wagons. We have the Golf wagon and the i30 wagon here, but no Corolla wagon or Focus wagon. I drive by myself on most days, and my car is a Ford Fairmont. It's a sedan, with a 4.0 litre in-line six engine, and it's about the size of an E-class / 5 Series. I like having the room to stretch out, and the effortless power from the engine. I'm personally looking to down-size to a Mondeo, but I probably wouldn't go much smaller than that. I strongly disagree that smaller cars are more fun to drive. This may be true of hot hatches like the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, 208 GTi etc., but most small cars are gutless. Parking in town isn't a problem here, most car bays are more than big enough.
