Great video Harry! 😁 I'm so glad you're loving the palette. It is a handy little tool that saves the wood of your wc pencils so that they don't crack or warp. Definitely worth the money. OMG Harry!! I did not expect this shout out. Thank you so very much, I'm humbled. 🤗 You made me blush,which is hard to do... Lol 😉 I hope you are doing well my friend and again thank you so very much. 🤗

I have one, and I really like it. I use it all the time. Yes, the smooth side works great for watercolor markers, and the textured side works great for watercolor crayons and watercolor pencils 👍. I’ve looked at the dollar store for something similar, and yes they have little cutting boards. However, they are thicker and bulkier to carrying around and don’t have a thumbhole. So, I would only be able to use it at home. I can put this in my handbag with a set of Neocolor II or Museum Aquarelle and I’m all set for sketching on location. I’ve have found that a Mr. Clean Eraser (white cleaning sponge), or a simple white eraser, removes all stains (as well as on plastic watercolor palettes).

Omg! I can't believe I didn't know about this product. I have never seen it or heard about it. I definitely need one for my Inktense. Thanks Val for telling Harry about it. And thank you Harry for telling the rest of us and, of course, for reviewing it!

Funnily enough I recently bought this and it's made such a difference to how I use my watercoloured pencils. I've also found that I use less pencil.

I invented this in my head, then came here, to see it's already been made! It's exactly what I need. Thanks for another great review 😊

This seems a more practical and conservative option to Derwents grater box and more versatile - really like it, Thanks for the review!

The texture is a lot smoother than a cutting board, it will save your pencils and brushes in the long run. The smaller size and thickness is also better.

You can substitute a piece of frosted duralar, a kind of thin plastic sheet with a slight texture for a similar effect. The duralar can be wiped clean and has enough texture. You could cut a piece down to the size of your sketchbook and have a travel mixing palette.

Thanks Harry! I use water soluble media and have to do cartwheels sometimes to use them in all of the various ways. This is ONE piece that does it all and it's in my cart with Spectrum Noir WC Pencils. Primaries as well as Tone and Shadow. Great reviews.

Great review. Thank you :D And yes, Valarie is awesome. Such a skilled artist. I don't burn wood, but I still enjoy her videos. It is amazing to see the magic she creates with fire :D

I know you are reviewing this product specifically but this might be relevant as a comparison I suppose. I bought a block of 40 pages (A4) Royal & Langnickel disposable paper palettes last year. It's a very shiny surfaced waterproof paper of some kind and is cut to the palette shape with thumb hole and shaping etc. I though I would use a page per project and throw it away. But I'm still using page one! It just keeps on going with my beloved Neocolor II's and also with Tombow waterbased markers. It's shiny and so no use for Derwent's Inktense (I don't have any watercolour pencils but it probably wouldn't work for them either). But it's great for the crayons, for acrylic too.

Sue Wilkinson I have the disposable ones like you too. But I splashed out a while back for the Caran D'Ache palette and haven't looked back. The disposable ones are too smooth and shiny to use with neocolor and watercolour; you need the textured side for this which the disposable ones don't have. It would work with the intense too.

capyboppy my disposable sheets work well with Neocolor. But wouldn’t work with pencils. I’m impressed with them to be honest. I know the palette would be better for some things. But these work well in certain situations and staining isn’t an issue.

So many art supplies are increasing in price, I have seen some Derwent products that used to sell for £25 selling now for almost £50. The Colored Pencil medium has flourished and so the companies seem to be cashing in while they can.

Thanks for the review 🙂 Try an eraser on the staining. Re: chopping block from Ikea, I have no clue why someone would pay out £x amount for a chopping block when this item can be bought for £7.99, it doesn’t make sense and is false economy as I doubt a chopping block would have the appropriate thumb hole in and would probably be heavier. Weight is an important factor for me given my limitations due to pain etc and I doubt I am alone in that.

I wonder how a butchers tray would do with these...? Porcelain and worth the $$$ as it will last forever.

It doesn't look like it does any better than my cheap plastic 3 palette set for about $1 at Walmart. It's a shame they couldn't come up with a more stain resistant solution.
@capyboppy6 жыл бұрын
selbarton if washed straight away it does come off. Does your cheap one have the textured side as well?
