I like the twist ending. I initially thought the lady in waiting with the burns on her hands was the culprit in the death of Concubine Jin. Wow.

This isn't meant as a negative comment and more of a funny observation. I like how you managed to not mention the details from last episode that were relevant in this episode and instead focused on the larger stuff during the recap. They mentioned Jin dying and the unusual smell on the North side last time and both turned out to be important clues this episode.

i don't know why but whenever i see this shoujo anime, it always reminds me of 2 old popular shoujo animes: Yona of the Dawn /Akatsuki no Yona (manga 2009 & anime 2014) & Fushigi Yûgi /Mysterious Game (manga 1991 & anime 1995)... they have similar vibe with chinese storyline

Never been this early wow. don't worry about being suspicious about everyone!!! totally normal with any mystery genre work I'd say 😂 Love how this episode was foreshadowed in s2 ep2 when the new girl mentioned a "weird smell coming from the north side". The first few slow episodes are actually sprinkled with so many details that become relevant later in the story. God I love this show haha

12:36 Mao Mao said she doesn't know many details, so even though this is Mao Mao and she has higher chance that it may be true, I'll keep this open as this is conjecture, Mao Mao didn't really see what happened starts from 12:43 like how Concubine Jin truly died and if it's accident or incident or what really happened 🤔

I really like Shisui. She is bright friendly and has peculiar fascination with insects that match Maomao’s. My only concern is Maomao’s wonder how she able to move around in Rear Palace more than a maid of her rank. I hope she becomes an ally of Maomao. She can be added as a friend like Xioalan (Maomao’s little sister).
