I feel like a lot of people overlook Jinshi's intelligence because of his obsession with Maomao. Lol. If you notice, a lot of the cases that Jinshi hands over to Maomao, he already has speculations and just needs evidence. He just doesn't have the time or the subtlety to investigate. He also purposely omit some of the details to see if she comes up with a different solution than him. He also knows a lot of what's happening, yet he pretends he doesn't notice things. He uses the information whenever he needs to manipulate someone to do something for him. Like what he does to Maomao a lot of times. Maomao even points it out in the later novel, telling Jinshi to use his beauty, his power, his people, and use her as he did in the rear palace. Also, yeah, "Jinshi" has a very different personality than his "real identity". He's not really glittery. Lol. I think you can see a glimpse of it in Season 1 when he was taking the suppressant.

14:41 I do think that to some extent she might be intentionally not thinking about Jinshi’s situation. In S1, she correctly hypothesized about the baby switch, but I think she decided not to pursue the line of thinking since she deemed it “not her place to stick her nose into their business” as it could cause her more trouble than she’d want to take on.

Yup. A lot of clues have been in her face for quite a while, and I do remember her thinking to herself once or twice that it's just better to ignore it and stop herself from reaching the final conclusion of Jinshi's true situation.

The higher ups line was kind of sad for me. It made me think about the conversation from season 1 where Maomao talks to Jinshi about how she's just a low-born commoner and the nobles/higher ups can do whatever they want to her and others like her. Just "make up" a motive. Reinforced the divide that Maomao sees between herself and Jinshi.
