Say im going with a 1400 watt system, single 12 inch sub in a ported box. What do you recommend?
@dabigmack25 жыл бұрын
So what about a vid explaing picking best subs and enclosures for internal car volume. Id like the cheapest (while still being reliable ) setup to almost have the potential to blow a window in my 2005 pontiac sunfire. Atm i have 2 jbl 1000s in parallel in a ported box in my trunk hooked to a low wattage amp prob putting out 350 rms and 2 planet audio 12 inch dual 4 ohm coil subs hooked to a boss riot 2400d at 1 ohm in reverse polarity to the jbl's. Found out that thats the best mix that that system could do, but my mom has 2 jl audio w3v3-4 12 inch subs in a ported box running at 200 watts rms total in her toyota celica 2004 and she still has twice as much bass as me

Hey caraudiofabrication I've been watching your videos and I think they are great! I'm now gonna add a more custom touch to my original subwoofer enclosure design.I have 2 15inch ssa audio evils and I plan to build my first custom box for them. I designed an 8.5 cu.ft box. But I'm also going to add a plexiglass window custom trim panels and custom lettering. Your videos have inspired me to take it further!

@proshadowgamer71188 жыл бұрын
+CarAudioFabrication Mark 2 8"s or 2 10"s for a quad cab dakota..
@russetpotato1238 жыл бұрын
+Joe Gotti In the Ford Fusion, they have a huge trunk, so youd be safe with a single 15, 2 12's or 10's. If you arent to worried about loosing space, if you a space conservative, run a single 12 or 10 and call it good man! (Girlfriend has a Fusion I put a 12" P3 Fosgate in there on 600 rms. Great great set up, I recomend it, but there is also other brands! Do some research and pick what best would best suit your budget and music style!)

Absolutely agree with getting a smaller size to fit the space better. I had two 10" JBL W7s in my truck and never really liked the sound of them. My friend explained that they were too big for the box I had and build me a box for two 8" Rockford Fosgate subs. The damn things rattled my truck with the amount of low end bass they put out. Couldn't get the 10s to do what the 8s were doing. I learned a lot that day that's for sure.

Calm down man. Hiding behind a keyboard while using the internet to vent your personal frustrations really does nothing for anyone. You had a good point with the geometry proving your point that it is fairly simple for people to figure out and do themselves. But then the rest just makes you look as ignorant as you preach others are being. It's unnecessary and to reiterate, it does not make you sound any more educated. Plus, the rest of us are so damn tired of seeing comments like this. It really ruins any good conversation that is actually taking place here.

+Adam Drake Well "said", it really does get tiring seeing all the hate that spills from the comment section of KZbin. I do my best on here to be helpful and honest. Then you get the occasional "troll" that just wants to spit expletives at you. I have been directing those "keyboard warriors" to my Facebook page, letting them know they are more then welcome to "friend" me and we can have an intelligent and civil conversation, via Skype or any other VoIP service. Funny thing is they never respond let alone "man up" and show their true identity.

I made this mistake! I had a 12" Sony Xplod P5 in a 2.5 cu ft L-ported box tuned to 30Hz (which I originally thought was 3.0 cu ft as I didn't realise how much volume the port took up) and it slammed lows hard. I already had to cut the hole bigger because the previous owner had a JL Audio 12w7 in it. I then cut the hole even bigger and put a 15" Xplod P5 in it. It was louder at higher bass frequencies but the lows went to shit. Was using a Soundstream XTA480.2 bridged on both. Now I have a 15" to 10" reducer in it with a 10" Alpine Type R off an LW Audio 1.1600 and it sounds better than ever!

+Russ Lyman I'm dealing with this now. I worked in car audio for about 6 years and got a great new job that is also in the automotive industry. I'm wondering if i can offset the cost of a nice router by doing side jobs. I should just buy one and make picture frames, they cost a ton lol.
@RussLyman8 жыл бұрын
+riothero313 thats great that you get to work with car audio and cars for a living. I'm just doing it in my spare time. I bought a Ok router a while ago and only have done a few things with it. I manly bought it and a circle cutting jig so I could cut speaker rings and make them flush mount. I would def benefit from having a router table I just need the room. It would either have to stay at my Moms house or wait till we get a house with more room ha

Great video the magic number had me like this 😲 I had no idea it was reduced by so much.
@CarAudioFabrication8 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Edwards This is the point I was trying to make. :) Now of course you could always get rid of bracing, or reduce the port size and get a little bit more air volume... but then your box may not be as sturdy and may have port air noise issues. It's all a balancing act, hopefully the guideline in the video can help with having a better idea of a true starting point for the airspace so folks can make a good subwoofer decision. Thanks for watching!

Great videos, they are beneficial. What do you recommend when trying to use a free-air subwoofer setup? I have a 2017 Toyota Camry SE. I just changed the factory head unit to an Android using the factory speakers which will also be altered. I want a moderate to aggressive sound with deep bass.
@GazChamber8 жыл бұрын
As always, solid video and great info. Have you ever considered doing a series of videos on OEM integration with head units that can't realistically be replaced? For example, Ford's Sync Touch system which is more along the lines of an "infotainment" system, which has functions that control climate in addition to media and navigation. JL Audio and Audison both make units to integrate OEM head units with aftermarket amps as I'm sure you're aware. Perhaps a series on taking a vehicle from stock to fully custom system while retaining the factory head unit would be a good idea. It occurs to me that the automakers around the globe are not slowing down with adding capability to their head units, which means that this sort of installation might become more ubiquitous as time marches on. Thanks for all of your work and expertise!

Excellent information right there. Thanks again for a fantastic guide. Can you talk about mid-range speaker selection sometime? Some of the questions I had were: Do I need to build a box for mids? Do this foam baffles work in place of a box? Should I worry about porting a mid, or build a sealed enclosure? How much power do I need for my mids to work with that new subwoofer so that I have the right balance in sound and not too little or to much bass from the subwoofer? Should I worry about placement and the angle to the listeners ear?

@CarAudioFabrication8 жыл бұрын
+Afistnu Yes.... the point is that you need to take into account the size of the mounting face. Say you are installing in a Chevy Sonic, the dimensions might be 32 wide by 14 tall by 14 deep, sorry but there is no (easy) way to install an 18 in there... (without doing some sort of modification) This may seem obvious but you would be surprised how many people just buy the sub anyway without a plan and then are disappointed later.
