I believe you’ve done a rather superficial job of reporting on the situation, Joe. There’s much more happening there than meets the eye, and diving into it without proper study and reporting only scratches the surface, making things worse. I truly think you’ve missed an opportunity to both make friends and contribute in a meaningful, productive way that could improve people’s lives and the world at large. Perhaps you could reach out to someone there, get to know the situation better, and possibly collaborate on another video with them?

@@meggysaurusrex UM...that's exactly what he's done, better job than the mass media bs
@meggysaurusrex7 ай бұрын
@@OCbloke I appreciate your input and respectfully maintain my perspective. It's crucial to delve deeper into complex issues to truly understand them. For instance, did you know that the majority of the caravans shown were owned by a single individual? This kind of detail can drastically alter understanding of the situation. Joe's approach, while perhaps well-intentioned, fell short of even coming slightly close to capturing the complexity of the issue at that location. Rushing into commentary without a thorough understanding can inadvertently harm those involved, many of whom are already struggling. Regarding mainstream media, I believe it's important to acknowledge that it sets a very low bar these days. Instead of comparing one’s work to others, striving for excellence on one’s own terms is essential. Joe whilst clearly not lacking talent could be putting his skills to much better use by taking a less superficial position and finding out more about the dynamics of the site before making a piece on it. Even the Sun covered it better because they just did a public interest piece wandering round and complaining about the rubbish without finding out anything about why it’s there or what’s going on presents an extremely superficial take, which, judging by the comments many have run with. In this case, it's evident that more research was needed before making any public statements. Ultimately, spreading incomplete or inaccurate information can have serious consequences, perpetuating misunderstandings and false assumptions. It's essential to approach these matters with care and a willingness to explore all facets of the issue, there are probably people who have lived at the site for years whose perspectives might have radically altered Joe’s perspective. And if you're still having trouble understanding, consider the difference between long form and short form conversation. Sometimes, delving deeper is necessary to fully grasp the complexities at play.

i work full time and last summer me and my college age son became homeless when my landlord gave us a no fault eviction notice. We looked at a number of flats but were not accepted for any of them (due to being a single income family and my income was not over the minimum £30,000 requirement ) I had to sleep on my old mums livingroom floor and my son stayed with other family. Most of us are one paycheque away from poverty. One landlord took a chance on us and now we rent a lovely 2 bed little house with a little garden area and my own parking space ! Local authorities just cant cope with the shear number of people needing decent quality homes.

I lived in a caravan on a farm for 10 years. There was around 15 other vans there too. We payed council tax , had our rubbish collected and it was clean and friendly. the pitch rent was reasonable too. Everyone was happy.When the farm’s lease ran out, the wealthy Christian land owner wanted the farm shut down as he didn’t need the money or care for the people living there.where it remains uninhabited 7 years later. Another local farmer wanted to diversify his farm and allow us ,a limited number of residential caravans to live there and supplement his struggling farming business. The local council flatly refused and so we were left to find alternative places to live under the radar. The government and councils have brought all these problems on themselves and let thousands of people struggle and suffer. There are easy solutions to a lot of the housing problems like what I mentioned but they just don’t care or have any intellectual foresight . A roof over your head should be a basic right.We need better people in power before Britain becomes irreparable

The grass root christians are dominated by them. They originate from nicky dumbells south London alpha church. Full of bankers barristers and other wealthy groups. Its sinister. Seems to lead back to other wealthy cult groups whose scaffolding they climb on. Say no more. Meanwhile Nero fiddles whilst Rome burns. I would like to do b n b in my annexe. Its been vandalised twice. I repeatedly get requests to sell my home and land...to the cabal...who are monopolising my area. Any individual trying to think outside the box say like the farmer you worked for...gets shut down..frozen out...its sinister. Creepy and downright evil. From what I've seen it has its roots in paganism and satanism more than chrjstianity. If you say that...they send the thought police after you. Nothing wrong with caravan life. The rubbish is piling up in that specific location because it’s part of a covert drug operation by the police. The council won’t do anything about it because they’re hoping it will bring the homeless that they don’t control into disrepute whilst the police get rich off of selling drugs out of the lock up even those doing it are also just victims being used by the system because they would otherwise would end up in jail for things, they wouldn’t deserve like petty drug use… Operations like that require oversight unfortunately such oversight is only answerable to The Home Secretary and so, without members of the public doing very specific freedom of information requests that information never becomes public. That’s a pretty enormous loophole in the system that the police can freely exploit for criminal purposes so why wouldn’t they? ..since there’s nothing stopping them.. It’s no good, taking a surface value perspective on things and thinking that you’re contributing anything useful to the conversation, I broadly agree with your comments so I’m sorry if that seems harsh. It’s worth bearing in mind that there is always more going on than meets the eyes!

They dump their rubbish because they are fully aware that they cannot be prosecuted since they are working on behalf of the authorities in a ‘covert’ capacity. -that’s more the point… Such operations are supposed to have oversight, but since they are also supposed to be secret who is going to be able to monitor if they do or don’t comply with the law … If you want to know more about why this kind of covert operation should be banned or at least publicly scrutinised. You will have to do a freedom of information request for more data. In the video, Joe even mentioned cars coming and going all night I’m sure you can put two and two together

I can see this becoming the norm in the UK. Probably the cheapest way of living in an up-market area! To deal with any mess that arises from people living outside the public systems, the council should provide bins and encourage them to be as tidy as possible. I am sure people who own property in the Clifton area pay huge council tax bills so the council should keep it clean. The people of this country are being failed at every level by the government and our public services. Bristol is no exception. How did the UK ever get into this sorry state?
@UncalBertExcretes7 ай бұрын
The problem is the government and their attitude towards the british public, especially the working man. They have made it illegal to be homeless.. Yes, believe it or not. Rough sleeping, wild camping, van life, boat life the lot is totally illegal to live full time. They expect every single person to live at an address with a postcode so you are all paying council tax. For this reason they will never provide a site for homeless people to pitch their caravan for free, if they do provide a site it will have a postal code which means each caravan will be required to pay council tax if living there more than 4 nights in a 7 day week.

I imagine there are similar minded people across the whole of Britain and wouldn’t be surprised if Bristol is becoming an attractive choice due to Bristol City Council’s soft approach (+ Bristol’s liberal approach to life)!? I’d say there’s a fair few of the residents that are quite happy living the way they do (I’ve met and spoke with a few of the residents when working nearby, I also used to live and grew up around the corner from a similar setup in Bristol in the 80’s/90’s)! The areas that are tidy are people who value the fact they are there because they have nowhere else to be. The specific caravans with the garbage outside are part of a undercover police operation, which is basically taxpayer, funded drug dealing the police allow them to dump the rubbish everywhere probably hoping to make the actual homeless look bad, they also deal drugs with impunity. The council know exactly what’s going on and allow it to happen as long as people are blaming the innocent members of the public who have fallen on hard times that suits the whole establishment quite nicely .. More than meets the eye in every case, and one should always be careful not to cast judgement …

That must be a statistic of something like how many individual caravans park up there per year. The people on the roads in the first 5 mins are the main real caravan location and there are 30 there maximum. Still could tidy their rubbish up, not disagreeing with that. However, the gypsies that roam around the Downs and just park their new caravans and new cars on open fields and drive their cars along the fields where people are walking their dogs and walking to work are the people who are the real problem.

The people around them in their expensive homes getting angry might be upset, but how do they know it won't happen to them also at some point? There are people who have lost everything they once had through no fault of their own and been left to live such a life. It's absolutely disgraceful how hard-hearted some people become when they are sitting back in their lush lifestyles doing nothing about helping these people to get up out of the troubles they are facing. There are few people who really enjoy living like this long term. It is fine as an adventure for short term, but it is no way to live. I don't blame the people for wanting a safe, affordable place to live, but the rubbish needs to attended to, and the exterior should be clean and tidy with no encroachment on other peoples spaces. We are not sardines, so we should not be packed into small spaces. The local city council should be providing services to keep this area clean, even if they have to charge a small fee for rubbish collection. A skip bin service big enough to cater to needs would surely make a difference. You can say that is only enabling them, but you have to ask yourself, if not there, then where else are they to go? This is a situation created by mismanagement for a reason. With some depth of thought, you may be able to ascertain what that is.

The problem is mass immigration, very few council homes, totally unaffordable private homes and rentals, and many hundreds if not thousands of properties decaying or derelict. The Government do provide Councils with money for homes, but they spend it on office blocks for investment - and they can stay empty for years. People are waiting ten years or more for Council housing.

No the problem began in the 80's when Thatcher let people buy their council house now there is no council housing left. Nothing to do with immigration

Immigration is not the problem. Stop reading right wing press. It's the 1% keeping all the wealth and peddling hate talk as subterfuge

I live in Bristol. It's crazy expensive to live . City center now ruined by student accommodation. No affordable housing. Traveller sites are tiny and in out of town places . Many of these caravan dwellers work gig economy jobs and cannot afford the rents . 😢

Totally agree, really tough times! Thanks for watching and the comment 👍🙏

Oh well, I suppose it was inevitable you'd have to go back to the squalor eventually Joe! It needs to be seen though, otherwise people wouldn't believe it. Well done for staying overnight mate, but you should try it for a few weeks next time!. Keep up the good work mate. Show the UK how it really is.

@Suscida3 ай бұрын
Would you like to pay for that or are you expecting local residents who already pay the highest council tax band to cater for this?

It’s shocking, I live in Bristol and didn’t realise this was here. Something should be done about the rubbish otherwise rats will be spreading disease and that will be a bigger problem for everyone. So sad

The council can’t move them as they’ll make them homeless and be responsible. The dwellers already don’t have a proper home.

What is happening in the West now?? Australia is the same. Many people living in camper vans and tents because rents are sky high and there is a shortage of housing. Mortgages also very high. These are working people too who cannot afford the rents or mortgage prices. Something going on when it's happening in Britain USA and Australia

I work full time I'm a single parent.Have two son's one is taking his GCSEs this year the other is at college. I've been renting a property for five years here in Essex and I've just had notification that the landlord is not renewing the contract (selling up) I have a few months but trying to find a property they all say the same your not earning enough I'm sick with worry trying to put a roof over my family head im 60 and have no immediate family to help out the number of properties to rent have decreased in numbers this country has a housing problem big time I've been told to let the tendency run out and let them take me to court to remove me then go to the council has being homeless I've never broken the law in my life and I don't want the start now. And the council would probably put us in a hostel full of druggies sometimes I think to myself what is the point of working and paying taxes for this country it's a joke

I’m feeling your pain. I’ve spent my entire life struggling to keep a roof over our head ms, myself and two children, then two grandchildren. About ten years ago I bought an old place with an outhouse and no electricity or running water, no interior walls or insulation, light showing through the cracks and water literally pouring in when it rained. We crammed ourselves into it and but slowly we managed to get a new roof, insulation, water catchment and solar system to run water for flushing a toilet. Incredible. It would be interesting to see how many homeless were defrauded, robbed or tricked out of their homes, as the root cause. So much criminal fraud going completely unpunished for so long, I expect an explosive backlash at some point. I’m praying that you find a roof. I saw an old church and graveyard being sold in England somewhere. I think it’s shameful that this has been allowed to happen, abandoning the ancient church of and a very sane religion and replacing it with the present madness.
