I really like this layout, but has to be a twin axle. The bed has to be side on though looking through the offside window and 8ft wide, sited overlooking the sea 🤣. I'm not asking for much am I?

Agree. The idea of guests coughing and then tip toe-ing through from the front of the c'van to the loo at the back at 2am fills me with dread...🤣

I agree with your wife on it feeling claustrophobic with the mid washroom. Also if you have people sleeping at the front of the van and they use the bathroom whilst you are still in the back bedroom, you have to wait until they have finished. A trapped feeling.

Rear island bed, so one of us doesn't have to get out of bed in the middle of the night when theother needs the loo!

Prices will drop, just like the buying a dog nonsense. Customers got long memories if they feel they didn’t get a deal. I personally agree splitting the van makes it cramped. Love the island bed at rear but open plan. Ps great vids

We changed from the Swift Challenger 580 to the 560. Much better and with the 2 sliding doors seems to give you more room in the bathroom compared to the Bailey.

Swift Challenger X 835 - Rear side island bed, large mid bathroom. Side island beds are best suited to 8ft wide caravans which give you plenty of room without needing a 'day-mode' bed. Also, open plan layout use concertina doors. If you have dogs, solid doors are much better. Why have manufacturers not come up with something better than concertina doors. They're so flimsy and old fashioned these days - surely there's a better alternative for open-plan layout caravans by now.

The front and toilet/shower area is exactly the same, as our Cadiz black edition. One of my fav things was the large fridge. Just out twin single beds that are difference.

We currently have a Bailey Unicorn Pamplona ( series 4) and much prefer it to a transverse island bed like you get in the vigo. We hated squeezing past the transverse bed in the middle of the night . In the Pamplona we can leave the bed fully extended and still easily get past the bed in the daytime. Love the big bathroom too and the front area never feels claustrophobic, just similar to being in a 2 berth . We feel its the best layout.

Whenever a couple buy a caravan there is always what you want and what the partner whats so great to hear different opinions. On a separate note we have a senator arizona 2008. Children now grown up and i would like a fixed bed. Wife still wants a large washroom but it seems the senators are the biggest. What is your opinion on the biggest end washroom?

Must say that I like the look of the 550's layout. We have side mounted single beds with rear washroom that suits our needs. 2016 Q7 tow car that is by far the best TC we've ever had.

I'm fortunate enough to have a Tesla Model 3, and I'm shortly taking delivery of a Bailey Discovery D4-2, which is one of the few proper caravans which the Tesla can tow. Despite the car weighing more than 1800Kg, it can only tow 1000Kg, according to the V5, and the handbook. I'm hoping that this will make a good combination, but only time will tell.

Let us know what sort of range you get when towing and how you get on charging while towing as that seems to be the biggest issue. I would have loved to go electric, im keeping a close eye on this market as I think its the way forward.

The energy usage nearly doubled whilst towing, but that was mostly at the maximum permissible speed of 50 or 60mph. I think I'll try knocking 5mph off, and see what that does. Not had to charge yet, as the first trip out was fairly local. Towing with the Tesla is dead easy. So much instant torque.

I think a lot of scaremongering is going on with this. I really cant see them stopping pre 2011 cars running on petrol. I think we are so far away from going fully electric. I will try to do some proper research.👍

Just got a swift vogue what I'm finding is when i turn the motormover on the mains trip in the van is tripping is that normal

No that shouldnt be happening, it should be 2 separate systems so may be worth having it checked out. The mover is 12v so shouldnt have any affect on the 230v system, so its very strange.

@@thecaravanplace Usually the manual states you should not have the mains connected while operating the mover. The isolation switch is usually place near the mains input to try to prevent both being connected at the same time. Might be for safety reasons rather than operational reasons though.
