Ha ha! It's too warm for Fray's finest at the moment. In fact, I've only had one since moving back in to the caravan!

Great to see you guys back. Your timing was a bit off with this repair, as you may remember we have the exact same caravan and before our last outing in May I had to replace our bathroom tap. As you said in your vlog, the plastic must have gone brittle but oddly ours broke across the base between the spout and cold tap. I purchased the tap you looked at with the longer spout, we found it a bit better because your hands are not up against the back if the sink. Hope you have a great summer 👍🏻 Mark
@TheMcNeillsonWheels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, sorry for the timing! I almost didn't film this, as I didn't think it would have been interesting enough. Interesting that you find the longer spout better. I know that there wasn't a huge difference in length. Had Tracey not shown me the single knobs, I would have bought that one. Wishing you a great summer, too. J

great Video again. Not a fan of microswitch controlled taps, the pump in the aquaroll is working its little guts off all the time. The guy who stores his van next to mine was only asking the other day if I knew of a good replacement whale pump, he had been quoted £85 for a replacement. His caravan is only 2 years old. If I were living in it full time I would be looking at putting an onboard diaphragm pump much better pressure and flow with the added advantage of using any type of taps you like. I have recently changed the tap in my bathroom too, even got one off the shelf at wickes. Great that you have tackled this job though. keep up with the good work.

Thanks for your kind words. I've just had a Google for 'onboard diaphragm pump' and I have to agree that they seem a more robust choice, if nothing else. We're on our 2nd whale pump, but the first came with the caravan when we bought it. I've been surprised at how long this one has lasted, actually. I thought it was going wrong in the spring, but a clean out, and it's been fine since. We have noticed a pressure drop - this is probably the impeller fins wearing out. I'll definitely consider an onboard diaphragm pump in the future! Thanks for putting it in my direction.

Thanks for the video, sound was great, watched it till the end, I put some soap on the rubber O ring when I connect the water pump, seals every time, less stress on the plastic lugs, had a hard to reach micro switch fail on the shower tap, end up fitting a pressure switch to the water system, thanks again

Thanks for commenting. Really appreciate your feedback on the sound, too. This was the first time I'd captured the audio separately and although it's more work in the edit, I think that the finished product is better. Interesting tip about soaping the rubber o-ring. I'll be sure to give it a go next time we disconnect!

Everyday's a school day. I had no idea there were electrical connections under those taps. Yup - I would have definitely been a bit friggin' sprigin' trying to do that. 😆

Ha! Yea, they're called microswitches and it's always worth having at least one spare one in your caravan repair kit. At least they're fairly inexpensive at around £5, but they do fail with age.

Hi we’re looking into starting our caravan life, but I don’t understand, do you have to have solar panels or is just a battery ok just for me and my girlfriend, let me know. Thankyou
@TheMcNeillsonWheels3 жыл бұрын
Most sites have an option for electric. However, some smaller or more remote sites don't offer electric. Provided that your leisure battery is fully charged and in good working order, you should find that it lasts you the weekend easily.

Ha ha! The problem is, the UK isn't set up for these sorts of temps. We didn't even own a fan - we had to beg one from Stacey's mum and dad! We've also not got any A/C in the vehicles we run, so we do feel it a bit. It's good though, I'm not complaining. We've been swimming in the sea every night after work, which is a wonderful novelty to us Brits. Funnily enough, my mate from NSW has even been complaining about the heat this week! She's obviously been in the UK for too long!
