Well I went ahead and bought this kit based on your recommendation and I have to admit it's so much neater than that clumsy contraption I had before. I followed your instructions to the book, how to measure up etc and then put it together and hey presto a perfect fit on my van. Well pleased with it. Great video Dan and thank you. Keep up your good work.

Hi Dan we were new t caravanning last year and have been using this kit from the beginning, its a great piece of kit and fits so well on our basecamp I've driven over 150 mile with it still in the waste outlet when i forgot to take it out when we packed up and was surprised to see it still in place when we got home
@grahamjessop45415 жыл бұрын
Hi, used this kit before I found your video. You missed the use of the other 90* bend. Rather than using the unstable flexi tubing, measure (100mm) out of the straight tube cut and fit this from the T to the bend, fit the remaining length of straight tube to the other end and adjust length as required to go straight into waste container on a level surface, allowing about 30-50mm to go into tank. Much more secure and tidier. As shown on the picture of the kit. If on a slope/elevated or uneven site, flexi tube may needed to ensure no leakages. If you want I can photograph and upload my system if this will clarify. If necessary use a small amount of silicon spray to ease assembly.

Hi Dan, Ive been using thst set up for two years and it works well. Wr were on a fully serviced pitch at Chertsey so I just slid my white pipes onto the grey and adjusted for length. But glad you gave a warning, as I did split one join when I originally put it togethet, but its still working well. Just needed to adjust the distance between the two outlet pipes when we bought the Buccaneer.

Great vid as always, Dan! 👍🏻 I finally invested in one at the end of 2017 and am well chuffed with it, much neater job than the flexi and 2-1 we were using before. Also, you can obviously buy all the joints separately, so I got another 90° to drop into the wastemaster. I use that kit Dan. The only thing I would add is that the kit comes with a two right angles. I use the second to secure the pipe down into the wastemaster. The size of the straight grey pipe is sufficient enough to cut three pieces in total and therefore no need for flexi hose.
@TheTrudgians5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, we were thinking of doing the same, but in the end i chose not to do this as the flexi pipe acts as a trombone slider : pull back to remove WasteMaster, push forward to insert etc. We did this over Christmas and it works really well. it also means it will work with my serviced pitch kit etc. Take care

@philgaukrodger36055 жыл бұрын
I have the same kit on our van but found that if connected directly to waste outlets as you have done then when you release a full sink of washing up water then the waste water can reappear in the shower tray due to the sharp angles and not much run off. I found that if the outlets are extended with a bit of flexi hose then this seems to then work OK!
@TheTrudgians5 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil, Just so I understand correctly - the water coming from the sink is pushing back up this connection kit and into the shower? I have heard this happening to others too - and I think there is a spacer that you can buy to lower one of the outlets to prevent the "back wash" Thanks for the heads up - i will look out for this, but so far so good. its been working really well. Seems a lot of faffing about to me? I just bought a standard flexible waste pipe Y piece and pushed the flexible hose on all 3 ends. As it’s flexible it opens out or closes up to accommodate any spacing of outlet connectors and the third end that goes into your waste tank can be replaced with a longer section if you wish to run it into a drain or whatever. Cost pennies years ago when I bought it, it’s been on a couple of different vans since then. Enjoying your videos though 👍

Why do caravans have a twin waste outlet and motorhomes just have one, what is the extra outlet for? Thanks
@TranceElbow5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, Thank you for another great and importantly, useful video. I have a different issue with my Bailey waste pipes. Ours is a side kitchen/end washroom and the kitchen sink and washroom basin both feed into one outlet on the side of the van. Annoyingly, the shower had a separate outlet at the back of the van. Not wanting to carry another waste hog, I have to keep moving it about. However, I would prefer to move the shower outlet so they are both together. I did consider joining the basin and shower waste pipes together but I think that would give me water level and capacity issues. In the video you mention the the stanard waste pipe is probably 28mm. Is this easy to get hold of in longer lengths? Keep up the good work. Regards Chris

This maybe a dumb question but Bailey just build it with one waste pipe, it would be cheaper and easier for them?
@conifer80265 жыл бұрын
Justin Grunwald If there were a blockage or, even just an airlock, the waste water could back up. The effect of this may be that your washing up water, complete with soggy toast crumbs, might regurgitate into the lowest point in the caravan drainage system, namely the shower tray! Ugh!
@gbwildlifeuk82695 жыл бұрын
@@conifer8026 I disagree on the grounds the two systems would yield the same circumstance. At present you will have 2 outlets from the bathroom, 1 shower, 2 sink. These will join below the van via a Y piece and then run as a single pipe to one of the two outlets at the side, (or rear) of the van. Dan's method, (along with numerous alternative designs) now has these two outlets merging, via this waste pipe, into one pipe which goes into the waste master. Now lets suppose we remove the two brackets from the van, merge the pipes into one below the van and fix this now single pipe to a single outlet on the side of the van. Both methods are using only one single pipe in the final outlet, so whats the difference that Dans method will be ok, but if a manufacturer uses only one outlet, it might flood the shower? Further I doubt there would be enough volume of water from the kitchen sink after washing breakfast dishes, (toast crumb soaked or otherwise) to travel as far back as the shower tray. Although you might secure a blockage if you soaked the actual toast, but you would notice the water wasnt going down in the sink long before it reached the shower tray!

@TheTrudgians5 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are standard 28mm parts, you can easily purchase these from DIY centres such as B&Q or Wicks etc.
@scotiajinker83925 жыл бұрын
If the van is level how will all the water drain ? Obviously the force of the water will force most to drain but I think you will get standing water, if the van is slightly nose down it won’t drain.
@TheTrudgians5 жыл бұрын
Morning, the waste outlets are set slightly lower than the floor of the caravan, so all pipework will have a small decline to allow water to drain away, etc. If the van is nose down then waste water would struggle to get to the outlets, hence why its quite important to make sure the caravan is as level as it can be. Of course, there are other reasons why a level caravan is important, but this is one good example. Using it over Christmas, we suffered no standing water issues - in fact when it was time to remove it, it was drier and less mucky than the previous version. I hope this helps

Hi Dan. I wonder why caravans made in UK have different drains for sink, shower etc. Here in Europe we have all conected in one exit pipe.
@TheTrudgians5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thats a good question. The only reason I can think of is if the kitchen sink gets blocked, and in that case (if a single outlet was used) waste would bubble back and start to rise into the lowest point - in most cases, this being the shower. So separating the various outlets hopefully mitigates this issue. Maybe thats why European vans don't do it, as generally they don't have showers like the UK style caravans? It's a good thought though, and now has me pondering....... Hope that helps.
