As for me, I want to be totally out for any medical procedures, I actually woke up during a colonoscopy. I was stretching my head trying to view the camera tv thing when they noticed and dosed me back to sleep. lol. it wasn't painful but I did experience a twinge of pain when they clipped for a biopsy. It was just about that point when they realized I was alert and sent me back to la-la land. Turned out it was cancer but here I am 10 years later telling the tale. God is good. It is a beautiful thing you and Ron are doing to help your friend!

I was awake for both eyes, no it's, and they gave me a pill that calmed me to where I didn't care what they were doing.

I had cataract surgery three years ago, and I was out like a light, it seemed for the first one, but the second one I was awake. However, the difference for me was they told me when we were discussing the surgeries prior to either one that that was gonna happen because the anesthesia doesn’t work as good the second time as it does the first due to the surgeries being so close together.

I had my cataracts removed this year and I was awake for both. They gave me a double squirt of meds,the put numbing drops in my eyes that hurt badly I was wide awake and saw everything. I have 20/20 distant vision in both eyes but I have to wear reading glasses to read. 😊

Oh good grief. Those shots! I had one without anesthesia. Never again! They put me out now. Same for when they go in and cut the nerve with a radio wave. I had 3 kids without anesthesia or spinal block. But not those shots! Glad u getting help with ur back and eyes. Hugs.

Carolyn thank you for the update. The sad part about getting older is spending your time going to doctors. Not a fun thing that's for sure. I had both cataract surgeries last September/October a month apart. I was awake for both. Second surgery he scatched my cornea on my right eye. Had to use special ointment for a few days. Couldn't see very well. Scary. That's alot of back injections! I've two sets of two for lower back pain. Next step a piece can be scraped of. Good luck with healing. Thank you for video update. Hi Caroline, I need to have my eyes checked again, as I was told I have mild cataracts over a year ago. Hope everything goes well after your eye surgery. My husband & I are thinking of a move to Arizona, but not sure where to go. We are looking into 55+ senior parks, and possibly the Apache Junction area. Any thoughts? I would appreciate it. Husband retired after 22 years in the Navy. We are up north in California, wanting to leave. We are used to the heat. Hot summers here, near Redding. Anyway, have a great rest of your day. 😊

RE: helping your kiddo. I helped my son thru his first year of his fed job as he was on the lowest TSA tier pay-wise, got him through his probation period of one year. Lots of $$$ and groceries every month etc. He received a big pay raise and bonus after his 1 yr, so now he is ok. Haters be gone! At least he is safe in his job and NOT OTR trucking now. I'd do anything for my kid. From trucker to TSA certified officer go figure. Tell you son that this is a great job with LOTS of benefits. Makes this retired fed so proud. Just passing the word. Maybe your boy can check it out.

Thanks a bunch for describing your cataract surgery. I was diagnosed with cataract on my last eye exam and will be evaluated by an ophthalmologist next month for possible surgery. I was nervous, but knowing from you that it's not too invasive, I'm feeling much better about it. Take care of your eyes. That's what we get for being seniors, right? 😄

I had cataract surgery and lens implant 10+ years ago on both eyes. They put me under for that surgery. 3 months ago, I had to have addition cataracts removed. I was wide awake for this latest cataract clean up and it was done with Lazer. It took a few minutes for each eye, they put drops in each eye before they started, and no pain was experienced. I can see great again with 20/20 vision. Ray

When I got my eyes done they just numbed the eye no anesthesia for either eye. The whole thing just took about 10 minutes no pain at all and all I saw was a bright light.

I was awake for my first cornea transplant. Not a fan. The last 2, out like a light. I LOVE seeing after not seeing. I hope you heal so well you feel like doing cartwheels, but don't do it. Dance, just dance. ❤

I had both eyes done at the same time in 2020. I was awake. It took the doctor about six minutes per eye, sat for about 1/2 hour and went home.

It was so good to see you Carolyn your hair looks great don't worry about it Paradise is going to clear up you're going to see things that you didn't see before and you're going to feel the need to clean clean clean clean clean. That surgery done because that's exactly what I would be doing seeing everything I should have seen before but I didn't. But everybody else did. Kicks and giggles. Are you going to do another TENA showing? Off the top of my head I got one light left in the bathroom that I basically plugged up so it's on 24/7.

Glad things are going well for you Caroline. I had cataract surgery in both of my eyes and I was awake for both and coherent as to what was going on during the procedure. I will say my experience was great and I am so happy that I had it done, as I needed it done ! And each procedure only took maybe 15 minutes ( ?? ) and afterward the nurse helper who wheeled me back into the prep room asked me if I could stand up, to which I replied YES........LET ME THE HELL OUTTA HERE !!! Uh, just kidding there....:-} :-}. Anyway, I have a life long friend who needs ' it ' but he is deafly afraid of having anything done to his eyes ( we're both 72 ) and I emphatically told him Rob......it is a walk in the park, easy peasy !! I'm sure at some point he will do it, and the sooner the better ! For me, before I had it done, driving at night was scary as cars coming at you, and especially cars with LED headlights, created this blinding, huge starburst effect that I literally had to pull over to the side of the road, because of loosing track where the damn road was. You would be somewhat awake for both proceedurs. Midazolam is used but they didnt give you enough meds. I had this happen when I had a endoscopy. 1st time I didnt remember anything but second time I remembered everything. This drug makes you dopey but your not right out. It makes you forget the proceedure. Make sure to tell dr this happened if you ever have a colonoscopy they use the same meds.
