Carbine full weight/full stroke Gentle Recoil System

This is experimental. Proof of concept. Do not try this. A carbine buffer tube version of the Gentle Recoil System: flat wire buffer spring, Kynshot RB5000HP hydraulic buffer, and two TUNGSTEN mini-spacer weights fit it all in a carbine buffer tube with functional last round bolt hold open.

When I first read your blog it immediately occurred to me “why not tungsten weights so that it would fit in a standard carbine tube?” Now I know it’s because nobody makes such a niche product. Maybe now somebody will. Kynshot? (Hint, hint, nudge, wink) 😅

A bolt carrier with the KAK tungsten weight, Kynshot RB5015HD, and 1 Kynshot spacer gets the weight to 25.33 and works perfectly in the A5 Tube. Same components as the original GRS minus 1 spacer and the JRC tube.

Had an expensive Doublestar stock and proprietary tube, basically a carbine length rifle tube, I didn’t want to have to replace with the just right carbine tube. It looks like this is my solution, thanks.

I have tested several versions of recoil reduction devices. The MAXIM works best in my 9mm. I have been using the KynSHOT 5015 with one weight and a $1 5.56 carbine spring for several years now in my .45ACP AR. The .45 shoots the softest and makes big holes, which helps with scoring. I use a 200gr LSWC in it. The 9mm uses a 160 gr Blue Bullet. I use WST in all of my reloads. Both are at a 140-145PF. 16" barrels in both. I was not impressed with the KAK K-Spec.

So... hypothetically in the extended buffer tube you could get 2x the mass with these tungsten weights. I'm curious how much extra that would tame recoil. Great video!

You could, but there seems to be a "diminishing returns" issue after about 10-11oz. in my experience. I'll need to check with more mass again just to be sure.

Thanks Doug, I put an A2 buffer tube on an Aero Precesion lower, much lower felt recoil. Look forward to hearing where to get the tungsten weights. Thanks.

Essentially the same. I'm working with a manufacturer to start making and selling tungsten weights just for this setup.

I'm going to ask a random question that has nothing to do with this video, mainly because I respect your opinions so much. I have an AR9 with a PSA EPT trigger. Is it ok to put anti walk pins in this non fancy trigger, or will it affect the hammer release or something else?

Anti-walk pins should be fine with just about any trigger.
