I asked Extar about switching from a .308 spring to a carbine spring and got a general non-answer about it being best and safest as designed. Heh The only thing holding me back is all the polymer. (I just want to make it easier to run the changing handle.) The bolt and solid buffer at 24oz, so that's good.

I have the TACCOM 3 stage buffer for an AR15 in my .300 blackout SBR paired with a David Tubbs .308 flat wire spring. I like how the combo feels…flatter and faster shooting.

What about the 3-stage, the cushion buffer spacer, in an A5 buffer tube, plus one of the spacer weights from your GRS, and the short stroke bolt? Would the added weight help with recoil?

Personally, I think that multiple stage buffers with springs have just one "big" advantage, that is it's typically easier to chamber the first round because the spring rate at the beginning of the stroke is lower. But other than that, what seems more effective to me is that instead of using a complicated system of multiple springs, just use one properly dimensioned heavy spring. It might be harder to rack, but will slow down bolt and buffer towards the end of the travel similarly, will also have the same return energy (closing impact) and will even have a little more tension upon the closed bolt which is not a bad thing on a blowback action. A heavier spring will also start to decelerate the moving mass harder sooner, creating a more gentle impulse (upon bottoming out on rearward travel) that a very progressive setup will have. Progressive setups to me only make sense when energy is converted, like in a shock absorber (like a kynshot buffer). With just springs the bolt returns with (practically) the same amount of energy as it's blown open, with shock absorbers energy is converted by oil or air beeing forced trhough valves and closing energy can be quite different, making the impact upon closing a lot less disturbing to the sight picture.
