Wrong. I have the Maxim and the " Gentle Recoil" system. I used the tungsten weights instead of two lighter weights which requires a longer buffer tube. I run a $1 5.56 carbine spring. No need for a flat wire spring. I shoot much heavier bullets. Shot a MP5 today using 115 grain factory ammo vs my Maxi system with my 150 power factor 147 yr bullets. Recoil was identical. You must not reload. Btw you need to spend some time in the gym to build up some muscle. I have no problem cocking the Maxim with a regular charging handle. You should do your tests with the same length barrels.

No flatwire spring isn't needed. It's smoother and doesn't twang like a round wire spring. It's a review so letting people know the maxim is harder to charge than a regular Ar15/ Ar9 is part of a good review. Yes heavier bullets have less felt recoil. But 115gr range ammo is still what most people use and is a fair standard across the board. Did you really claim the maxim with your handloads is as soft as the mp5 with factory ammo?? I mean no duh.

So I actually talked to maxim defense on how to setup the RDB, they said to put it in the tube and tighten it up (with no plunger or spring) until it touches the bolt. It should be in contact with the bolt. So it kinda has a tiny bit of preload. Other than that I found it didn't really change much versus installing it with a gap and using the plunger and spring to lock it in.

Yeah I dont remember seeing anything on installing it so eventually I just called and asked. it makes sense though because you don't want any sort of gap if you want to prevent bolt bounce. Essentially this way it acts as one continuous system.

Excellent video. I recommend comparing these with a good heavy buffer regular blowback option as well
@newyoutube6282
@newyoutube6282 3 күн бұрын
The options tested already included the best blowback buffer recipe: the gentle recoil system. A heavy buffer might be the same weight as the GRS but will often bounce (unless it's a heavy buffer with a sliding weight that counters the bounce). The hydrolic dampener in the GRS does this and prevents bolt bounce.
@ZChaosFactor
@ZChaosFactor 3 күн бұрын
Its already been tested before. All these setups blow the good old heavy blowback out of the water. We there's nothing to be gained from comparing them. Like was mentioned the GRS is an extra heavy direct blowback except with a hydraulic buffer.

What everyone else said! The GRS is the step-up improvement I came up with over just a heavy 10-11oz. buffer. A heavy buffer definitely helps, but adding the hydraulic impact cushion component and a flatwire spring makes a big difference.

What is the total weight of reciprocating mass(bolt & buffer)? I’ve been using the KynShot RB5015 (21.5 oz) with a Wilson Combat spring in my SA Saint Victor 9mm with great results. No jams and perfect ejection.
@Blowback9
@Blowback9 3 күн бұрын
14.7 bolt + 11.5oz. with the 5.5oz. K-SPEC and tungsten weights, similar to the original Gentle Recoil System. The K-SPEC doesn't have as good impact cushioning as the hydraulic buffers and doesn't perform well with this much mass. BTW, mass and springing in a blowback has little to do with jams and ejection. Those are due to the mag feed angle/height and the ejector position relative to the bolt.

For the EPC, are you using an EPC upper/lower set or just the EPC LRBHO Upper? I switched to a Ballistic Advantage 8" and the feed cone have executed flawlessly with the G17 magazines. Current setup is a 10oz KVP tungsten buffer, standard spring, Foxtrot Mike Products BCG, and a very slightly touched pin from the LRBHO EPC upper (crimped less than a mm). Have not had issues with feeding yet but will comment if I get something weird or the jams come back. As always, LOVE, your videos. Such a fun hobby man, wish there were more dudes around like you to brainstorm with and try stuff out!

I have the EPC upper/lower set and a bunch of different non-enhanced feed cone barrels just for experimentation, but I think I found the problem. The LRBHO lever was pressing on the follower 1 round early, causing the follower to dip the nose of the last cartridge.

Would you say the kynshot 5000hp in a carbine tube with those weights would feel similar to the traditional GRS? After finding your site and the GRS a friend added it to his ar9 that he always hated shooting and it immediately changed his mind and also has lead me to building my own. I just would like a shorter buffer tube if possible.

This is a really awesome product. I wonder how it would work with the Mean Arms bearing delay upper, basically a double delay. 😂 I have to admit I am kind of curious, especially if you’re suppressing it. Having that extra back pressure and having two delays might really help with the gas to my face. Although I don’t know if it would work having two delays.

It probably wouldn't cycle. Each mechanical delay is designed to dissipate a large part of the recoil energy. There wouln't be enough left over to operate the 2nd mechanical system.
