Carbon Ceramic brakes on my 964 Turbo RWB Porsche 911 - Part 3

I finally get back onto the rather complex engineering exercise of fitting a combination of 991 GT3 & 997 GT3 carbon ceramic brakes to my 964 Turbo Porsche 911. Martin has done an awesome job of machining the brackets from billet aluminium, and there are just a few more little engineering issues to overcome which you'll see in this video.

That brake disk is just stunning. For a mere 2 million (less than an F40) you can get a printer that prints several types of metal including aluminum and I believe titanium. Fascinating how they work, but for myself I'll be waiting until they get into the thousand dollar range. 🙂

I'm left with a dumb smile on my face after every video. Awesome work! I do have a question though: I saw you have a radio in your Porsche, and it looks fairly modern for the car. They look the part and I'm sure they have more than enough performance for a lightweight car like that. Are you going to change the rear brakes to carbon ceramic too? The higher friction coefficient at the front will move the brake bias further towards the front, unless you change the master cylinder to adjust the pressure towards the rear more. Just a thought, I'm sure you don't want another brake headache just yet lol
@driftworks
@driftworks 4 жыл бұрын
That's the plan, although the PCCB are a lot more balanced than what was on there before. The bite & ratio on the old calipers was way out of balance.

Phil, please save the native CAD files of the adapters for when I sell my house and my wife leaves me for buying a 964 turbo. This way I can buy adapters from you and do this swap in the new parking lot where I will live. So much drool on the bits that are on this car! So, with the American 5 lb drop in the brake setup and the ??? lb drop in the BBI knuckle and coilover setup how much weight do you think you lost in the front corners compared to a stock 964? Curious to see your track impressions.
