I saw an electric a/c kit being installed in a 911 by Jeff (from Australia) on his KZbin channel: Home Built Jeff. It looks like at least a part of this kit also works for your car. Also the Wosp alternator, which seems an excellent choice.
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
Strong chance it's the same kit. I think it's used on Singers etc. I'll check the video out if I get a mo. Cheers.

It is the same system that Jeff is using from Jonny Hart of Classic Retrofit. Jonny has been working on electric heating as well which he setup for his EV build however as of June 2021, any 12V heating which is built into the HVAC "suitcase" is "a long way off - perhaps years". Fingers crossed there has been some development here. I am sure Phil would love some proper heating in his part of the world! 🥶😁

Someone has on my IG. I wondered if it would get any questions 😂. We've made the tins around it perfectly to allow us to clip the plug onto the coilpack, then spin the coilpack to bolt it to the new boss on the rocker cover. It works perfectly and means once mounted everything looks uniform.

Great and beautiful build, but what are the benefits of going to an epas system? Seems that it would be detrimental to the driving experience since the hydraulic steering is one of the best things an air cooled 911 is known for

Thanks. It's not possible to use sequential ignition / coil on plug with the hydraulic power steering. Plus there's a weight distribution advantage, although that is slight.

Sorry if I'm being abit dense but why a cheaper oil for running in .
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
A couple of reasons. The new rings need running in, the assembly lube gets diluted into the oil, and even with the cleanest engine build in the world, there's still going to be some dirt, that this essentially allows me to wash out using cheap oil. It does no damage to bearings etc as I'm not going to be running to redline on full boost.

Is there any truth to longevity using titanium retainers that they don't last as long for a road going daily compared to standard retainers. Or Is it just the usual online myths. Absolutely love this video.
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
I've never had a problem with them, but if I'm fitting ti retainers the car's not likely to be doing 20,000 miles a year, so I'm possibly not the guy to ask.

Rather than cut up the power steering console, just sell it. and have a cap made for the end of the cam. it would be a simple cap with a O ring groove. When the motor was being built they also could have just put a cam in it without the output drive on it and solved that problem.
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
