Great tip at the beginning. I used a black plastic cutting board from Target for the under seat amp rack of my 2nd gen Tacoma. 17x14 was the perfect fit, no additional cutting required!

I went with the CS series. From Kicker. Replaced my stock 6x9s and added some dome tweeters that came with the package and used the crossover that came with the package. For my budget I consider it a nice upgrade. Yours probably sounds nicer but I’m pretty happy over the dried out stock speakers.

Nice video sir. NVX has many of their products, which are rebadged, from other companies. That isn't a bad thing, as many companies do the same. NVX is a good all around product. Some of their subs and so forth, are just Soundstream..(same build house). But, for the price of this component set, they should Def include tweeter mounting option configuration hardware. Loved the video!

Man you have so much space to make a 3 way set. You might want to consider it. Would be a cool install to see. I would even look at the 5.25" set if the FS is close. Mount all 3 in the door. Probably not enough space to mount a 3" or 2" mid and tweet in dash but if you could would you? Nice video showing off HDPE.

What I really like to do is make some pods up in the corners of the dash. Those dash speakers are so far away that imaging/staging is pretty easy to pull off. In any case, stay tuned there's more to come.

Quick tip for tweeters with no hardware. If you make your tweeters mount too big, or just right and want them to stay and not fall out, wrap them with some Scotch 30lb double sided tape behind the mount, and zip tie to the double sided tape close as you can to the flush underside of the mount you make.

I have been looking at 6-6.5 inch speakers lately. I think the ORION XTRPRO are a great option at 139.00 a pair and they are rated at 400 watts rms. They seem to be sold out everywhere...
@DIYAudioGuy2 жыл бұрын
Wonder why they're sold out everywhere.
@davidbrennan52 жыл бұрын
I am guessing supply chain issues. The Orion speakers have great specs for the price, very efficient, high power handling and good sound quality from the research I have done. I think for pure sound quality the nvx in this video would be a good option or the blam signature series, if you didn't want to spend crazy money. I was looking for something that would play loud without being stressed too much, the full range PRV AUDIO 6.5 6MR500-NDY-4 and Orion XPM654MBF XTR Pro was what I was looking at.

I made my own nvx mid-bass speaker adapters with ABS plastic since I had some left over from making fuse holders and whatnot. but I wonder if that HDPE is better.. I don't know.. is HDPE a bit softer( less dense) than ABS?? do you know? Just curious..

HDPEis a lot denser and harder than abs. With abs should work fine. Most of the ones that you can buy pre-made are abs.

Mostly because I got bored and I was looking for a change. I've been eyeballing a new component set for about 6 months now, then NVX reached out to me so I figured why not. Edit:. These things sound great by the way. Definitely an improvement over the three-way set up, but the 3 way set up was a budget setup. I would consider this nvx set to be premium. It is their top of the line product.

So there is a online shop that sells bass blockers and I’ve called and talked to several different people there and they say I can run a tweeter wired in parallel with a mid door speaker with there bass blocker even though the mid speaker is rated at 200rms and the tweeter is 45rms, curious what your take is on this. I find it hard to believe that’s not going to blow the tweeter and I keep going between that setup and a set of components like these you just reviewed.
@beerman98072 жыл бұрын
I have the 80 PRS by Pioneer and it has a switch on the bottom to separate all the rca inputs to only put out highs , mids and lows
@DIYAudioGuy2 жыл бұрын
A bass blocker is just a capacitor, just like you would use in a passive crossover. Once you filter out the low frequencies the Tweeter does not have to move very much to make sound because the sound waves that is playing are very small. Finally, there's just not that much energy and those upper frequencies. You could hook your Tweeter up to a 200 watt amplifier, connect to proper crossover, and it would take the power all day.
@DIYAudioGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's a built-in digital signal processor. Back when that radio was launched it was groundbreaking. Now pretty much every one of pioneers touch screen head units has the same feature.

I am having a heck of a time finding some 6.5" component speakers that run at 40-50w peak. if anyone has any solid recommendations on a full range id appreciate it, but I think everyone is just ok/resigned to adding another amp. I can do it if i get a 4" but will have to custom fab an adapter. edit: the fact you start your video off by fabbing your own does not fill me with confidence i will find what I am looking for lmao
@DIYAudioGuy2 жыл бұрын
Just because a component set can handle 200 Watts doesn't mean you need to throw 200 Watts at them. I'm only throwing 50 watts per channel at these. I recommend hitting the link to Crutchfield down in the video description, if you order from them they will usually throw in the mounting brackets that you need to get the speakers to fit in your car. Making my own rings is just something that I wanted to do because I like doing that kind of thing

@@DIYAudioGuy word i just hear and have even experienced a long time ago hooking up a "premium" component speaker to a stock head unit and people getting half the volume or worse. I'm already pushing the stock system hard enough to distort on some songs while looking for more volume to match bass output; thought I may have even damaged a speaker. however just stepped back inside after chasing down some rattles and everything sounds way better.. ive resigned to needing another amp for ddoors, and ill throw on a crossover so i can be ocd about EQ on the way to work. have a bunch of sound deadening stuff on order to get any remaining rattles and hopefully solve my missing 70hz frequencies. wish me luck!
