Carbon Fibre Mod Stock Exhaust KTM Duke 390 125 200 250

People asked if it was possible to stubby the exhaust on the KTM Duke 390 without removing the baffle so here I'm showing how easy it is to do. At the same time I've made a cosmetic mod which testing has so far proven to work well. It's also possible to trim down the baffle inside the exhaust to make it louder but retaining the stock look.

Hello david, will there be any issues if i wrap my stock ktm duke 390’s exhaust with vinyl carbon wrap?

Hi, I didn't have any issues - but it will depend what the wrap is made from. One recommendation I would have is to use a sealant with the rivets since you can get a leak if it doesn't seal which lifts the wrap.

hello, what if you just drilled that stubby ? does it sound any better? can you show us what the sound is with a drilled stubby? drilled on the exhaust end

If you remove the baffle then it is louder. I don't show sound because it will never sound the same in real life to a video - never trust videos which show sound because it will NOT sound like that in real life.

Anyone having problems with the abs auto switching off while riding?

Not me. Do you get the 'Not Legal' warning come up?

Moto Mirius It just suddenly shows ‘can abs failure’. The abs indicator becomes solid and abs stops working. The error remains until I turn off the ignition and start it back.

Hi, yes, the more of the exhaust you remove, the deeper and louder the sound will be.

It's just carbon fibre vinyl wrap. Not ideal for this, I need to source a more heat proof one, but it held up better than expected, and I know how to improve it next time!

The Akra is my usual exhaust yes. But I will admit that I bought it second hand so at a much reduced price. Next video I’m putting the official Akra DB killer back into it. But this is much cheaper 😂. Skäl David

If you don’t have a decat then yes I agree. Once I’d decatted then it was ridiculously loud, to the point where I’d have to roll past police cars with the clutch in and the bike at idle. Now I have louder bikes even so, but this type of bike plus loud exhaust, here is a police magnet.

Not normally no. KTM state that fitting the Akra slip on does not affect the engine - this is very similar

What size rivets did you use?

My advice on this is to measure your own and try and find something that looks the same. It's short rivet.

Yes - except where the rivets are - would need to use better fitting rivets as the wrap pulled away a little at the rivets. I think with some more work and a better quality wrap this would be a viable option

Mostly water vapour, but there is some leak from the valve stems.
