Lesco CarbonPro G is an organic fertilizer / soil amendment that conditions the soil and provides many benefits for bermuda grass and zoysia grass lawn. It's a granular soil amendment that contains humic acid, biochar, compost and other microbial that conditions the soil to improve plant health. CarbonPro G is easier to apply than other granular carbon soil amendments. It's a granular organic soil amendment / fertilizer manufactured by Mirimichi Green for Lesco. Mirimichi Green is a leading producer of carbon soil amendment technology and is known for their great CarbonizPN
Carbon Pro is similar to other carbon fertilizers like Carbon X that promotes deeper, stronger roots through improved nutrient uptake. Stronger roots allow the grass to better take advantage of soil nutrients. This improved nutrient uptake makes your turf grass more efficient which allows you to have green grass using less water. One big it advantage Carbon Pro G has over Carbon X is it makes it possible to add carbon to your soil in the form of rich biochar WITHOUT adding NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium0 in the process.
The CarbonPro soil conditioner allows your turf grass to perform better in drought and other stressful conditions. For those either trying to seed new lawns or overseed established lawns, Carbon Pro is similar to Carbon Pro L in that it improves seed establishment. I'm applying it to my Bermuda grass lawn this season along with Carbon Pro L

I too use the Lesco Carbon pro G. I do 3 applications in my grass season in SC. I did my soil test last week and could see it in my samples. I also bought the Miramichi granular and it did clog last year. I had to hand spread it (like feeding chickens) Then I found Site One version.

Mr. Henry, Yet another great video .......BUT for a newbie like myself I have to admit that I am confused slightly. Here is what I mean. I have followed the feeding and maintenance calendar from your website religiously and have gotten awesome results in my first year. No joke, I have the best lawn in the entire community. People ride, walk, and drive by all the time to see it, compliment the lawn, and ask for tips. My issue is, I have seen you do a number of new videos this year such as the one above on CarbonPro G, you have mentioned bio char, plant growth regulator, and recently spot top dressing with sand only. I do not know where and when these things fit into the cycle of lawn care as spelled out by your calendar. It would be helpful to me if in your videos or on your website, you consider adding/updating these types of items to your program. I realize that some of it may be lawn specific and specific to geography. Sorry to be so long but I hope this helps others also...........Queron #coming@yaforbestlawn

Glad to hear that you're getting good results from the calendar on the website Queron. I need to update it later this year to reflect new knowledge and techniques. This year I've been doing a lot of testing to find out what works and what doesn't. I want to ensure that whatever I have on the website is safe and produces results with minimal financial outlay. Thanks for bringing this up. Made my evening to know that you have the best lawn in the neighborhood thanks to your consistent hard work. Glad that the tips on the website and video were helpful. 😎👍

Ron, this looks like a good alternative to the Carbon Earth XSoil (very similar) and the Andersons BioChar DG which is simply BioChar without the preloaded compost component. I love that the carbon products will promote the soil and the lawn health long term and actually reduce the fertilizer retirement over time. Keep up the good work Ron, I'm hooked to your videos.

Thanks so much JR Barden. I really appreciate you watching the content. I agree that CarbonPro is a great product at a more reasonable price. I'm with you on the use of carbon products. Nice SandW6384. Carbon Pro G doesn't contain any NPK which is great for your situation. In most cases, the lawn has plenty of nitrogen so being able to improve the soil without pushing a lot of extra growth is always a nice option in my book.

@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one to measure Richard. I can definitely say the color of my lawn this year has been much better since adding the carbon products. Now would I get the exact same results using just the Scott's products? I'm not sure. I've never really done that so I can't say. 3 - 4 fertilizer apps per year is unlikely to be enough for my lawn though. Given the low height of cut, I think the lawn would suffer without getting enough nitrogen.

Great video! You mention the benefits to bermuda and zoysia grass lawns. I am from the Midwest where residential lawns are typically Fine Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass, and Perennial Ryegrass. Does the product benefit these grass types in the same manner? Any differences I would need to consider? Also I typically aerate in the fall close to last cut for the season. Is this OK or is it better to do in the spring? THANKS!
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Hi T Richard. Yep! It absolutely will benefit cool season grass as well. CarbonPro G improves the health of the soil which is important regardless of your grass type. For cool season grass, aerating in the fall is more the right time since that's when your growth is really going to take off. You could do it in the spring, but that's usually when the grass is about to start seeing stress and summer heat comes in. Given the choice, I would aerate now. This is assuming a cool season grass. If you have a warm season grass like Bermuda or Zoysia, late spring to early summer is when you'd want to aerate. Hope this helps.

Hey Ron, I put down Carbon Pro G. at a rate of 10 lbs/1k, since it's my first application of Carbon. I was expecting to see a nice green up, like yours. A week later it has A LOT of yellow throughout the turf. It looks very stressed. Not sure what happened. It spread nicely ~ no clumping. A week prior to that I put down Weed Stop and a week before that, I put down PGR and Simple Lawn solutions. Could that have messed with the Carbon Pro G? It's not happy about something!! 🤷‍♀️ I'm trying to figure it out so I don't do that again! Thanks for another informative video. Your lawn couldn't look better.
@RonHenry
@RonHenry 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheril. I think the yellowing you're seeing is probably from the Weed Stop and the fact that the lawn also had PGR applied a few days prior to that. The yellowing isn't due to the Carbon Pro G. That's the herbicide in the Weed Stop product. The yellowing will be temporary. That's the thing with herbicides. Even though they're "safe" for your particular grass type, what that really means is they won't kill it. There's often slight temporary yellowing though. It will bounce back. The lawn bounce back. Keep me posted on how it's doing say a week from now?

Hi Jamey. It's unlikely that you'll apply too much at one time. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 lbs over 1000 square feet would be too much. Most people will never get there. You can back it down to 1 bag per 1k if you're really looking to stretch it out. @@RonHenry Do you have a contractor account? I called this morning and was quoted $35 a bag. Still cheaper that other options, but $25 would be a game changer.

Hi JBarden. Yes I do. That might be the slight price difference. Still it’s much cheaper than the 60 - 80+ that the competition is asking. I’ll go correct my previous replies. Thanks for the heads up. 👍

Thanks for your comment David. The CarbonPro has biochar, compost and other ingredients. I also like the fact that it’s not a fertilizer since I’d prefer that my carbon treatment not add NPK.

I got a echo RB-60 spreder. What setting I need to set it?

Hi Saul. I haven't been able to find a spreader conversion for the RB-60 as yet. Initially you'll want to apply it at 10lbs per 1000 square feet which will give you 4k feet of coverage per bag. On most spreaders you need to open it up pretty wide to get the product to flow well. Sorry I don't have a specific number for you.
