I'm happy with it Russell. I've been applying it monthly this year to really build it up in the soil. I'm already seeing benefits with how the lawn is doing well in all this heat. 95% of the lawn is still a vibrant green. It's not too expensive either. Love the product. 😎👍

Ron, this looks like a good alternative to the Carbon Earth XSoil (very similar) and the Andersons BioChar DG which is simply BioChar without the preloaded compost component. I love that the carbon products will promote the soil and the lawn health long term and actually reduce the fertilizer retirement over time. Keep up the good work Ron, I'm hooked to your videos.

Mr. Henry, Yet another great video .......BUT for a newbie like myself I have to admit that I am confused slightly. Here is what I mean. I have followed the feeding and maintenance calendar from your website religiously and have gotten awesome results in my first year. No joke, I have the best lawn in the entire community. People ride, walk, and drive by all the time to see it, compliment the lawn, and ask for tips. My issue is, I have seen you do a number of new videos this year such as the one above on CarbonPro G, you have mentioned bio char, plant growth regulator, and recently spot top dressing with sand only. I do not know where and when these things fit into the cycle of lawn care as spelled out by your calendar. It would be helpful to me if in your videos or on your website, you consider adding/updating these types of items to your program. I realize that some of it may be lawn specific and specific to geography. Sorry to be so long but I hope this helps others also...........Queron #coming@yaforbestlawn

Glad to hear that you're getting good results from the calendar on the website Queron. I need to update it later this year to reflect new knowledge and techniques. This year I've been doing a lot of testing to find out what works and what doesn't. I want to ensure that whatever I have on the website is safe and produces results with minimal financial outlay. Thanks for bringing this up. Made my evening to know that you have the best lawn in the neighborhood thanks to your consistent hard work. Glad that the tips on the website and video were helpful. 😎👍

Hi na1du. In a subsequent video (on Alex's lawn) we did get a tad bit of clumping in on bag of the product that we left in the spreader for a while when we were figuring out how to film. @RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one to measure Richard. I can definitely say the color of my lawn this year has been much better since adding the carbon products. Now would I get the exact same results using just the Scott's products? I'm not sure. I've never really done that so I can't say. 3 - 4 fertilizer apps per year is unlikely to be enough for my lawn though. Given the low height of cut, I think the lawn would suffer without getting enough nitrogen.

Great video! You mention the benefits to bermuda and zoysia grass lawns. I am from the Midwest where residential lawns are typically Fine Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass, and Perennial Ryegrass. Does the product benefit these grass types in the same manner? Any differences I would need to consider? Also I typically aerate in the fall close to last cut for the season. Is this OK or is it better to do in the spring? THANKS!
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
Hi T Richard. Yep! It absolutely will benefit cool season grass as well. CarbonPro G improves the health of the soil which is important regardless of your grass type. For cool season grass, aerating in the fall is more the right time since that's when your growth is really going to take off. You could do it in the spring, but that's usually when the grass is about to start seeing stress and summer heat comes in. Given the choice, I would aerate now. This is assuming a cool season grass. If you have a warm season grass like Bermuda or Zoysia, late spring to early summer is when you'd want to aerate. Hope this helps.

Nice IMOWLOW. Glad to hear you're getting good results with it. Yep. Absolutely it's a good idea to apply it before the sod is installed. Talking to the guys at Site One, that's how a lot of landscapers use the product.

Hey Ron, I put down Carbon Pro G. at a rate of 10 lbs/1k, since it's my first application of Carbon. I was expecting to see a nice green up, like yours. A week later it has A LOT of yellow throughout the turf. It looks very stressed. Not sure what happened. It spread nicely ~ no clumping. A week prior to that I put down Weed Stop and a week before that, I put down PGR and Simple Lawn solutions. Could that have messed with the Carbon Pro G? It's not happy about something!! 🤷♀️ I'm trying to figure it out so I don't do that again! Thanks for another informative video. Your lawn couldn't look better.
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheril. I think the yellowing you're seeing is probably from the Weed Stop and the fact that the lawn also had PGR applied a few days prior to that. The yellowing isn't due to the Carbon Pro G. That's the herbicide in the Weed Stop product. The yellowing will be temporary. That's the thing with herbicides. Even though they're "safe" for your particular grass type, what that really means is they won't kill it. There's often slight temporary yellowing though. It will bounce back. The lawn bounce back. Keep me posted on how it's doing say a week from now?
@sbender95184 жыл бұрын
@@RonHenry Will do, Ron. Thank you! I didn't think it was from the Carbon Pro G. Lol.

I'm thinking the Weed Stop is the culprit :-)

@@RonHenry Could be. That did not happen the last time I put it down over 2 months ago, but maybe it has built up. I have those stubborn weeds that look like St. Augustine, they are still just as happy as can be. Ugh!! So frustrating. I noticed Site One sells Tenacity. I asked them why they sell that in GA, since that works for Cool Season turfs. He said you can use on warm season dormant turf. I'm thinking maybe that might be what it will take to kill them. What do you think? It's a little scary.
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын

@RonHenry3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamey. It's unlikely that you'll apply too much at one time. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 lbs over 1000 square feet would be too much. Most people will never get there. If you're trying to really build up compost and biochar in the lawn, apply 3 bags over 6000 square feet the first time. You can back it down to 1 bag per 1k if you're really looking to stretch it out. As an aside, the new version of the product is available online here: golfcourselawn.store/products/essential-g%E2%84%A2-granular-carbon-free-shipping. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

@RonHenry3 жыл бұрын
Hi Saul. I haven't been able to find a spreader conversion for the RB-60 as yet. Initially you'll want to apply it at 10lbs per 1000 square feet which will give you 4k feet of coverage per bag. On most spreaders you need to open it up pretty wide to get the product to flow well. Sorry I don't have a specific number for you.

Hey Ron! Any idea what the average cost per bag of the.CarbonPro G is? I have been using the Anderson’s HumiChar since late February. It’s a granular mixture of Humic Acid and Biochar. Curious to see how the price of CarbonPro G compares to that of HumiChar. I am paying about $85 for a 40 lb. bag and that seems to last me for a few applications as I only have around 6700 sq. feet to cover.
@RonHenry4 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam. Figure $35 per back for Carbon Pro G. The product is half compost and half biochar with a splash of humic acid thrown in. You could more than double the amount of product you're buying for the price you're paying for the Anderson's product. Not saying it's not good, but $85 for a 40lb bag seems a bit steep?
