Hello Bex. The small pockets on the Dutch Army poncho hood are to prevent water to enter the grommets. These grommets are there to improve hearing while wearing the hood. Greetings from a Dutch Veteran!🤘🏻

Sandbags are great as garbage bags. You can also carry stuff in them and use them for camouflage to remove shine and shape. Just remember to turn them inside out before use or filling.

I believe that bivvy looks like it was made by Mountain Range (a company that was based in Cumbria). Both the mesh and the outer skin look identical in colour to the ones I've seen before. They also did a double hoop version (a small hoop at the foot end) as well.

Bivvy looks like the phoenix phoxhole,there was a few knocking about in the late 90s early 2000s with this design,it's a very effective design,but a bit of a pain to get in and out,a steal at £3,I sold one of mine a couple of years ago for £150
@bexbugoutsurvivor2 жыл бұрын
Mine has a similar look to the Phoxhole, Mesh colour is different, so seems I have the clone, and a good 125 grams lighter than the Phoxhole (body only) but really comfy and warm.....Love it....b

Hi Bex I'm after some cleaning advice if you don't mind. I recently bought a 100ltr PLCE Bergen from an online army surplus retailer, and it's a tad whiffy. I've tried all of the cleaning solution I've found online, distilled white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and nothing seems to shift the smell, No obvious signs of mould anywhere on it so any suggestions that work would be really appreciated.

Most surplus army kit has a very unique odour. The odour and dirt tends to dissipate with regular use. Air dry it on a washing line for a few days, always stow in a well ventilated area. (old soldiers trick) a spray with aftershave disguises the smell of moth balls....

Heyup Bex, great video and some good bit of kit. Much of my gear is ex army and it's always top draw, bashers, bivvys, clothing etc. Especially a bergen I bought from my ex army mate. However, I;m looking for an ex-services parachute to use as a communal shelter. One where you can get a good few under it with a camp fire going in the middle. Every time I look for this i get no-where. Can you point me in the right direction?

Ex chutes are slashed up with a blade before resale for legal reasons. You would need to do a lot of sewing and seem sealing. Try this place down the road from me.... dasoutdoors.co.uk/collections/2nd-hand-army-parachutes-for-sale

you lucky bugger 🙂 the bivi bag ... i suspect is dutch government issue, used by civilian contractors working for the army, (engineers, technicians, maintenance crews etc)

Surprisingly cosy, for trekking long distance and pitch up 1 minute before sleep time, as apposed to short trek wild camp where the shelter is erected hours before sleep time. It work well without the hoop too. Thanx for watching....bex

I may start growing crops in them. I already have potatoes planted at the base every electric pylon, mapped along my bug out destination so far.

I like these vids of treasure at car booties. 👍🏾 I have had a couple of bargains myself this year. Not as cheap as yours but I was well pleased with a 68 pattern jacket in very nice nick with hood tailored on. Also a TRU-SPEC 4829 Backpack,MultiCam,Holds 2196 cu. in. Both cost me a £10. 👍🏾
